You look up constantly because you want to see all the pretty visuals overhead. I look up constantly because I'm terrified of slimes. We are not the same.
@@sacknutgaming2428 yeah I really don't like them suddenly dropping on my head. When it does happen, cos it's a fairly slow falling animation and grab animation I usually actually get over it pretty quickly and sigh with a mix of exasperation and humour, but the anticipation is the worst part. Honestly fine when they're on the ground, too, perfectly cool. I don't look at every ceiling, mind, just the ceilings where I think it's a relevant concern. Did make the DLC pretty bothersome at times cos one slime room, I get, but there's more than I think is particularly engaging and you've just gotta sit back and play powerwash simulator on them when they come up.
@@sacknutgaming2428 oh I'm not even in first person, I haven't tried that, I just mean under normal gameplay circumstances. My initial comment was me joking about my paranoia despite not being in first person. First person I'd presume would mean less ability to angle the camera to see what's tucked in the ceilings at the openings of rooms as behind those ceiling corners are the slimes so often to be found in. Now that would certainly be a really disgruntling experience.
Except that 90% of games would not look good at all. Its been this unique and recurring feature of FromSoftware's 3rd person soulsborne games to have assets placements, map designs and textures which look unusually good in 1st person mode, which isnt even in those games. Its been discussed among the fans for years now. Just so you understand the difference try and load GTA: San Andreas and play it in 1st person. Its a 100% cursed experience which is a common thing for 3rd person games to have worlds which look absolutely crooked with most stuff looking completely out of place in 1st person.
@@phillystevesteak6982 There is not a fisheye effect, and no, fisheye effects are not common in anything first person. The field of view is just really high in this video, but it's view mode is normal and non distorted, which you can tell by straight lines in the architecture actually being straight. Maybe the extreme FoV makes you think it's fisheye but that's literally how 3D exists on a screen for us, but warping. But the lense mode is non distorted, while fisheye effects are a distortion of the perspective. Most if not all FPS games do not use any lens distortion.
When we inevitably get to the point where vr graphics surpass today’s PC graphical standards, i want to play a vr elden ring port or mod. The artstyle and setting of the game is already astounding in 3rd person pc, i can only imagine it in reshaded vr
@@avysbb I'm just overcoming the motion sickness that I get playing in VR. I really don't want to imagine the view going crazy when rolling in elden ring
Won't happen from FromSoft, best we can hope for is an indie comes and does it right. Yes I know about Lunacid and I didn't like it, barely plays like KF and is really amateur in a lot of aspects.
@@Da_maul I did like Lunacid, but it's definetely different from King's Field. Feels way faster and free, which is not entirely something good because of the results in combat. Still, it was an interesting attempt. I really wished that a new KF or ST by FromSoftware could be possible, but it doesn't look that it will ever happen, yeah, it's up to waiting if someone else wants to do their indie-tribute game. The only thing left I can do is replay the King's Field games
@@Da_maul Why not? Do you expect them making 3rd person RPGs for the rest of their history? A few years ago many would have doubted From would ever made another AC game, yet they did. They wouldn't have even imagined them making a VR game, yet they did. And now a spiritual succesor to King's Field is impossible?
@@Noizzedyeah but the problem is Miyazaki himself doesn’t want to make one because he feels it’s disrespectful to its creator since he isn’t on the project to be the creative vision. also I don’t know if they have the rights anymore I lowkey don’t rmbr. They could mama a kingsfield style game but it wouldn’t be called kingsfield. Also rmbr the reason Miyazaki was ok with making ac6 is cuz he actually directed ac4 and 4 answer so he has a hand in it previously.
@@calluxdoaron1903it's so disheartening to see this 😢 imagine if 10 years later people started disrespecting elden ring just like you did. Skyrim was my childhood, it was amazing, maybe not as much as elden ring but it's not some mobile joke game
@@raccoon-p9h No one's disrespecting skyrim here, wtf? :D Quite the opposite, the original comment especially thought it was a skyrim video (as well as I did), goes to show how much people STILL care about that game.
@@raccoon-p9hhe was just talking about how some mods turn skyrim into smth entirely different and skyrim was one of the greatest games of all time ever since it was released
it's amazing how much detail is just lost when playing in the default 3rd person perspective, this game was already very beautiful, but this just takes it up an entire notch...incredible art work and world/level design
It's all due to the LOD setting, the optimization is a bit bad from fromsoftware, just a few mods to improve it and you'll see everything is sharp even from the 3rd perspective.
This is so immersive it truly brings the environment to life and makes the magical art design shine to its fullest. Every casual step in the world becomes so personal,I just want to ponder the view and wonder who mighg have read a book or drank some tea on the balcony in Raya Lucaria, or what kind of ceremonial events and festivities were held in the streets of Leyndell in the great past and how glorious they must have been. The swords and shields coming in and out of focus as they clash made fighting a hollow look like the most epic movie scene ever. I saw this a year later, but it's still beyond inspiring, keep adding your touche sir ,you are onto something P.S. A version of this in the shadow realm would be an experience for sure.
Thank you so much for the kind words, that means a lot. I've been seeing a lot of people reporting issues with the first person mod with the release of the dlc so I'm hoping the mod devs get an update out soon.
A perspective like this really makes you appreciate the world’s design a looooot more. If they could fix the jank that comes with the first person camera and animations, I would buy a pc just to play this
Yeah I found myself just admiring the game more often than playing it. But there is a good bit of jank to the gameplay but it's honestly not terrible once you play for a bit
Jank? My brutha, Elden Ring itself is already pretty jank by modern action games standard. First person or not, isn’t that a big deal. Best fantasy virtual tourism right here.
Miyazaki needs to see this holy sh!t!!! I remember people complaining about Elden Ring graphics lol. Everything looks so detailed in first person. Would love to see it in a bit lower fov though.
@jonathanfaif4346 ah, I was going crazy looking for this place in my new playthrough. I knew I would've remembered seeing that before so I thought I missed a ancestor boss
For those interested in the ReShade I have updated it to not include MXAO as it was causing weird issues in caves. The update is now available on Nexus
man this first person mod is getting better and better looking as im guessing it gets updated :D honestly if there was just a fov slider and maybe something done about what seems to be like a bit of that fish eye lens, honestly i would probably give this a shot!
This looks amazing. Are there other examples of you rolling in this video aside from at 0:40? The big thing with the first person stuff I’ve seen is that rolling is so disorienting. It looked smoother at that time stamp so I’m wondering if you changed it up
Wow this is phenomenal it really goes to show just how great FromSoft is at world design. I know you'd really need to tone down the difficulty significantly, but it would still absolutely be worth playing through at least once this way. I wonder how boss fights are, even if they're toned down.
it’s very easy to just have a disconnect with the player character in third person, which does have it’s toll on how you view places this gives such a huge boost in atmosphere even in the most forgettable of places
Yeah it really gives you an appreciation for the design and scale of everything. I never realized how large everything was until I played in first person
Elden ring is honestly the perfect evolution of Fromsoft's Souls-series games for me. It's beautiful, has an amazing and engaging game feel, and there's so much content that it makes the previous games almost feel sparse by comparison. I only wish the Elder Scrolls series could get a similar treatment but unfortunately, Bethesda is entirely incapable of doing so based on Fallout 76 and Starfield. Such a shame. Awesome video. I really wish FS gave us a freecam photo mode like so many other modern games are nowadays.
It's the only game from FS that summons a sense of gravity to me. Been a while since I went 😍 at a video game engine. Especially after modders take a swing at the contents.
@@nnnnnnnnn8888 What? Siofra River and Nokron are locations of the regular Elden Ring map. Nokron is not available to explore before you have defeated Radahn though.
Wow this entire video was breathtaking! It totally reminds me of how it felt to play Skyrim for the first time. Plus, the 1st person view version might fix the issue when fighting large enemies with the 3rd person camera.
You're breathtaking! But thank you so much. Fighting big enemies in first person is awesome and terrifying. One thing that first person really lets you appreciate is scale and spacing between enemies. Without the lock on doing a lot of the work you have to be more precise with positioning.
@@SnugglytheCrowDS1 You're welcome and I wish more people had this option to play the game. It feels like we should be able to look directly up but the 3rd person camera is pretty limited. It is also cool to hear that the 1st person camera makes the fights more engaging too!
On that note, what does dodge rolling look like with this mod? I've got a feeling it's not very well implemented since they completely avoided showing it 😅
Woah so beautiful. Feels like a new Kingsfield. But the head bobbing and that fov make me feel sick. Usually I like it when the camera stablize and not bobbing, as well as camera fov not too close, like in skyrim for example.
@@SnugglytheCrowDS1 So if I bought the game on pc, would I be able to use these mods to play like this? Or is this just showcase of what it can look like and is not really playable this way?
This is gameplay with it, you can play just like you see me playing. Everything I'm using is listed in the description! However, right now is a bit of an awkward time for mods. Each update to Elden Ring causes issues with most mods and the dlc was pretty major in that regard. Mod creators usually get their mods up and running again in a timely manner but I've seen people still reporting issues with first person souls. So it may be a bit longer til we see a working update for it! Sorry for the paragraph just wanted you to have all the info
Crazy how just a little perspective change and some high res textures can completely reimagine some of these areas. Now whose gonna be the first to kill the final boss of the DLC with this mod.
@@SnugglytheCrowDS1 of course. You just turned one of my favorite games into a 1st person game. If I had a PC, this mod would be downloaded immediately Maybe one day consoles will catch on to this stuff lol
I used to imagine there would be games like this made from the ground up for VR where the sheer size, spectacle, and immersion would win people over, and force them to upgrade. Sadly, it seems there's nothing even close to that, with even things like Skyrim VR just being halfassed ports.
Half life alyx is probably the best VR game I've played to date. I'm really excited about the UEVR ports coming (a lot are out but terribly optimized) and being able to play basically any Unreal Engine game in VR is going to be incredible
@@SnugglytheCrowDS1 id still rather native ports as those fully use vr unlike the UEVR one. Maybe by quest 10 we will get genuine big, real full sized games coming to VR
@@thedoomslayer5863 oh I would definitely love to see a game like this natively ported but I don't think FS has any intentions with VR. Maybe I will be wrong however and that next spell game IP will be VR
Hey what’s the mod who make the leyndell guard react when you block their attack with your sword ? It almost look like a parry. The shaders goes incredibly well with the first person, great video !
Yeah, it is just how he behaved. Only mods I used are listed in the description, playing with the carian knights sword with it's heavy attack block is a lot of fun
The carian knight sword has a unique heavy attack with block frames at the start. What you saw was him accidently blocking the knight in the most cinimatic way possible.
You can adjust the Fov I just have it setup nicely for my taste and monitor!

The camera movement and body movement is key here... It feels like VR without being VR... loving it. I hate how games normally move your arms and weapons as you look up and down... so... unnatural and dumb. But it's for the gameplay,. So understandable. This is just... really good to watch! Immersive!
Darn, lil' crow. We used to brink you "smooth and silky". But now it is YOU who brought us those - smooth and silky textures. Like hoooly crap. This is some really noice job.
Iirc, it has two modes for dodging: accurate movement and stable camera. Accurate movement pretty much makes the camera roll with you as you roll. Very vomit inducing imo. Stable camera makes it much more tolerable and focuses the camera infront of you instead of rolling with you.
It is aesthetically my favorite modded weapon for ER. Looks good, really cool skill, magic based, couldn't ask for more. You guys really went all out with your weapon models.
This is the coolest damn thing I've ever seen for a game!! I could practically FEEL the spear and sword in my hand! I absolutely love this, well f@#$ing done!!
You could just set the effect toggle key to the same key as the one you use to bring up the map ingame, just make sure you press that key again to close the map and it'll always disable it when you're using the map and reenable it automatically when you leave the map. Overall I'm really surprised how well this works, it doesn't look as ridiculously hard as I imagined the first person mod would be (though I'm sure it gets up there, I can't imagine fighting large bosses is particularly easy lol), and the 3rd person animations fit with a first person view surprisingly well. The reshade also looks quite nice, good job.
I swear Elden Ring will rival even Skyrim as far as longevity with mods and re-releases (you can be SURE there will be Elden Ring release for Switch 2 for example). This mod looks absolutely beautiful, literally every frame a painting. It really makes the art direction pop up. Well done Snuggly, have some homeward bones.
Crazy. First person view really puts the emphasis on how grand and terrifying a world we run around. How scary it must have been when fortissax launched his assault on lyndell, or watching empyreans wage war against on another. The incomprehensible size of the fire giants, the burying of an entire race to an underground prison, even just feeling the presence of the giant golden tree at any given place. To he human in a place for giants and gods. Fills me with terror and amazement.
