i’m gonna admit to something i’m not very proud of: this was the first album i listened to in it’s entirety. i was 10 years old when this came out, and my pea brain was so blown away by I Gotta Feeling that i begged my mom to buy me an itunes gift card so i could buy the whole project. and i loved it. even today, although my adult brain knows that it is nothing special, i go crazy when i hear any song off this album. it reminds me of playing tether ball in the elementary school playground, my dad picking me up from the pool after work, my cousins and i trespassing on neighbors farms. during all these memories, the Black Eyed Peas provided the soundtrack to my life. 4/10

The E.N.D, for better or worse, is one of the most important albums of the 2000s. It's a cornerstone of the following decade's production style and general sound - well, at least the first half. People shat on it hard when it was new, but that sound and sounds like it were EVERYWHERE following its release.

@@darko1295 I think the first song i remember hearing to usher in that era was "Give It To Me" by Timbaland. Blackout by Britney Spears also probably plays a popular role into it as well. This video reminds me that they played an edit of Boom Boom Pow on the radio that removed the word "satellite" from "satellite radio". Haven't found an official reason for it, so best guess is that local radio stations were doing it out of spiteful jealousy lol

they probably just did it to make it a ‘special radio edit’ or something dumb like that. like how “cheap thrills” changed the radio line into mentioning the specific radio station that was playing it

if you want a track for that "best of the worst" playlist you described, may I recommend "I Just Wanna F" by David Guetta, from the same guy who produced I Gotta Feeling and a whole lot of other tracks from the same era which are also crap (but mostly boring). the way you reacted to Ring-A-Ling and all its progressively trash lines that get worse and worse and worse to a level that you can't even imagine and comes around into being entertaining as a result makes me wonder whether that track will do the same. not sure if it'll end up in "so bad it's good" territory or "so bad it surpasses 'so bad it's good' and circles back around to just being bad again" territory for you, kind of in the latter camp myself but hey might at least be worth the experience lmao

It was a time full of electronic party music and that's what they did. They almost did it better though in my opinion by adding the disco vibes (which the 2020-2022 charts love) Now they are producing Spanglish bops that are doing pretty good numbers in Spanish countries.

You was asking for punk recommendations. A lot of people listed PUP as some good pop punk and they’re great but if you wanna check out some more traditional 90’s style street punk, Clowns and PEARS are doing great modern versions of that. I’d recommend Nature/Nurture and Green Star respectively

God this album is so nostalgic regardless of quality. Some of the first pop music I was aware of since I didn’t listen to the radio until middle school.

Worked in a nightclub for three years. "I Gotta Feeling" was one of the staple tracks. I physically recoil whenever I hear it in the wild. Also, I learned that David Guetta co-wrote it, and it made me want to petition the PM to declare war on France. We're behind Sweden and Denmark for most wars fought between two countries. Guetta is as good a reason as any to get our numbers up.

Some songs, like I gotta feeling, you just gotta be able to feel and not overanalyse it. I can also kinda understand the hate if you dont have the nostalgia many people like me at my age have with this song. It really captures a timepiece.

I loved this album as a kid, lmao. I was a massive Avril Lavigne and Kesha fan too, looking back a lot of this stuff aged poorly, except Avril's older stuff, and some Kesha songs that are still fun, but none of those aged as bad as Black Eyed Peas. Pump It and Meet My Halfway are the only solid songs they made

Don't forget Where's the love? This is probably the best song they had with Fergie mainly because she barely sings a thing there lol

Electric city was always my favorite song when I was younger. I used to unironically love this album and was a huge peas fan. Mainly because of the movie flushed away....

Discovery: The perfect mix of hypnotic repetition and genuine musical prowess and deep knowledge and respect for their influences. Really the pinnacle of this era of European house. Justice: Sound design was nutty. Excellent detail and attention to song structure, where most lesser producers would simply use a build-drop loop, the songs really have a depth to them that is hard to find in traditional EDM these days. Really it was just a much more emotionally connected set of tracks I feel, that felt grounded in their own world sonically, while still providing strong variety. Also mixing was fucking stellar. The END: Literally just discovery if everything good about it was surgically removed. Imma Bee slaps, stay mad.
