The E.N.D, for better or worse, is one of the most important albums of the 2000s. It's a cornerstone of the following decade's production style and general sound - well, at least the first half. People shat on it hard when it was new, but that sound and sounds like it were EVERYWHERE following its release.

Not to mention it was inspired by one of my favourite electro albums of all time Apocalypso by The Presets (more specifically My People, I think Will has stated)

@@darko1295 I think the first song i remember hearing to usher in that era was "Give It To Me" by Timbaland. Blackout by Britney Spears also probably plays a popular role into it as well. And then you have all the stuff that predates and influences like Loose, FutureSex/LoveSounds, Graduation, The Fame and the whole blog/house electroclash movements.

i’m gonna admit to something i’m not very proud of: this was the first album i listened to in it’s entirety. i was 10 years old when this came out, and my pea brain was so blown away by I Gotta Feeling that i begged my mom to buy me an itunes gift card so i could buy the whole project. and i loved it. even today, although my adult brain knows that it is nothing special, i go crazy when i hear any song off this album. it reminds me of playing tether ball in the elementary school playground, my dad picking me up from the pool after work, my cousins and i trespassing on neighbors farms. during all these memories, the Black Eyed Peas provided the soundtrack to my life. 4/10

if you want a track for that "best of the worst" playlist you described, may I recommend "I Just Wanna F" by David Guetta, from the same guy who produced I Gotta Feeling and a whole lot of other tracks from the same era which are also crap (but mostly boring). the way you reacted to Ring-A-Ling and all its progressively trash lines that get worse and worse and worse to a level that you can't even imagine and comes around into being entertaining as a result makes me wonder whether that track will do the same. not sure if it'll end up in "so bad it's good" territory or "so bad it surpasses 'so bad it's good' and circles back around to just being bad again" territory for you, kind of in the latter camp myself but hey might at least be worth the experience lmao

They adapt to the time period miraculously. 2008-2011 top hits were like really bad but like good bad. Black Eyed Peas adapted well. It was a time full of electronic party music and that's what they did. They almost did it better though in my opinion by adding the disco vibes (which the 2020-2022 charts love) Now they are producing Spanglish bops that are doing pretty good numbers in Spanish countries.

Discovery: The perfect mix of hypnotic repetition and genuine musical prowess and deep knowledge and respect for their influences. Really the pinnacle of this era of European house. Justice: Sound design was nutty. Excellent detail and attention to song structure, where most lesser producers would simply use a build-drop loop, the songs really have a depth to them that is hard to find in traditional EDM these days. Really it was just a much more emotionally connected set of tracks I feel, that felt grounded in their own world sonically, while still providing strong variety. Also mixing was fucking stellar. The END: Literally just discovery if everything good about it was surgically removed. Imma Bee slaps, stay mad.

Rock that body is kind of a guilty pleasure for me, I like it despite its issues also why do people call so many things a "Daft Punk ripoff". I feel like they were very influential and so it makes sense that other people would make stuff in their style

Didn't daft punk admit they were influenced by older musicians and artists too?

Some songs, like I gotta feeling, you just gotta be able to feel and not overanalyse it. I can also kinda understand the hate if you dont have the nostalgia many people like me at my age have with this song. It really captures a timepiece.

Have you ever done a video reacting to sorry for party rocking front to back? If not I think it would be entertaining - I'd argue it has a similar energy to this album (but with less bangers)

I like Seeing Sounds by N.E.R.D. which has a similar mid 2000s feel to it.

5:49 funny how he said listen to Daft Punk as homework because Daft Punk actually have an album called Homework.

Oh man Justice was the shit back in university, just tabbing out and jamming to those hard crunchy electro synth jams from 2007-2010. Soulwax’s Phantom Pt 2 remix still kills it’s.

If you're tipsy with friends while on aux, putting on 'I Gotta Feeling' is a guaranteed good move. It's near impossible not to sing along

My childhood appreciated this video. Loved majority of the songs as a kid, still do now. It's so weird how I thought my Nostolgia clouded my judgement of it, but then it surprised me and I enjoy it.

Haven't watched the video yet but my boy Brad better put some respect on Meet Me Halfway cause that song owns Edit: aight I'll take that, hook is definitely the best part of it lol

I love how boom boom pow was so obviously originally meant to drop in 2008 and they had to switch it to 3008 last minute because 2008 was 2000-late when it dropped in 2009

You have to react to THE BEGINNING, the album the Peas followed up THE E.N.D. with and the album that truly killed their careers (yes, they still make music, but it killed the Black Eyed Peas as the group that they were at the time)
