First Ride: 2018 Honda CBR1000RR SP Fireblade

My first upload for a little while!
I test ride a 2018 Honda CBR1000RR SP Fireblade. This is my first ride of this model and I try it out across motorways, A and B roads and some urban town riding.
See my thoughts on the changes from the previous model, what is similar, what is new and whether Honda have managed to catch up with the rest of the litre bike offerings.
I love the new electronics package especially the Ohlins semi active suspension and the bi-directional quickshifter. This bike is lighter, sharper and faster and is a lot of fun to ride.

Best *road* super bike ever. I get so sick of people whinging about it being down on power like they have the skill to use it. The perfect super bike for the road

Lol! So true. You'd have to be a very tasty rider to notice the difference between 190bhp and 200bhp on the road. The new S1000RR is meant to be an amazing road bike too. Thanks for watching

I’ve had my SP for a few months now and it’s the best bike I’ve ridden and owned , it’s hard to describe how this thing rides its unbelievable, great review .my 500 two strokes have been made redundant 😳

I had a honda cbr1000rr 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and now I have a 2030 model it's called the honda cbr1000rrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr fireblade, it has ABS, brakes are absolutely phenomenal, the acceleration is from 0-60mph in around 2.3-2.5 seconds and it has a top speed of 230mph, and I would of course know this, as well, I am from the year 2040

Great review mate, I'm picking the new cbr sp up tomorrow having rode an 1198 Ducati for two years and tbh having watched your review I can't wait , just hoping it's as much fun as the duke was , but yea great honest overview of the bike , coming from a current blade rider it means allot , thank you and ride safe pal

Buy one you won’t be disappointed and for those who say false neutral- nope don’t occur - was an ecu tt alternate that caused this. The blade rocks

I really enjoyed my ride. Amazing machine. Would love to have a go on one and be able to give it the full beans but didn't want to cause issues with Honda UK!!

You've got to remember you're paying for the suspension here over the base model, as well as some other things. Also the base has Tokiko brakes not Nissins. Good review though.

Indeed and in my latest 1k mile update I make this point. And you are of course right it has Tokico brakes up front just like the previous generation Blade...my mistake there!

Love your videos, you mentioned that you had suspension work done on your 2015 for more compliant road use, I have a 2013, could you advise what work you had done and if you were happy. Also do you find the SP as compliant as your 2015 when set to soft mode. Would really appreciate your thoughts. Ken

Thanks for watching. I had a expert (www.mhracing.com) twiddle with the suspension. I don't understand exactly what he did but he twirled screws on the forks top and bottom and stuff on the back too. It was adjusting the rebound and compression i think but can't tell you precisely which way, sorry. What I do know is the front forks were balanced up as the left was set up differently from the right. Not by much mind. If *felt* afterwards like it was more compliant over bumps and generally softer all round. Seemed to also get better drive and traction out of corners too and less of my arse being chucked out the seat! It was ideal for British road riding. In terms of the SP it's chalk and cheese. It's far more compliant in A3 and is a revelation. I've got an update video coming where I mention it.
