Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed this video! I'd love to hear what you learnt, what you'll use in your own training, or what further questions you have that I can factor into the future videos I'll do. Appreciate all the support!

It's interesting how relaxation and patience are extremely underrated. Resuming after a long time , one would think about positions and where the ball is landing and technique, and when this happens it is so easy to over complicate things. The importance of relaxing and patiently dealing with undesired outcomes is they key takeaway from this video

Thats a great takeaway mate and thanks for dropping a comment! I'll be going again today so should have some more interesting thoughts to progress with.

Awesome to get an insight into a coaches mind when they’re bowling and how you deal with undesired outcomes vs an amateurs mindset. Thoroughly enjoyed the self praise and telling middle stump where to go 🤣

Would have been funny if there were people around watching me talk to myself like this!

Ah! That’s some improvement you made there just inside a session, stubbz! You seem to be good at this “bowling, talking, thinking and improving at the same time” thing. Excited to watch next videos too. 🔥

Thanks mate appreciate the support! Haha just wait till you watch the others before saying that! Haha. It can be a challenge. But i hope it gives people a lot of practical information that helps players. Not everyone can afford to invest in private coaching so I hope these provide a really useful alternative.

Bro currently I am facing a serious issue in ball release for many deliveries I am either releasing too early or too late

Just an observation mate. First time watcher. Your action looks very very similar to Sophie Devine (NZ Women's cricketer). How long is your run up outdoors and is it alot bigger than in this footage? Your stride patterns look good and you don't seem to be striving/forcing for extra pace which I think can hinder (aspiring) young fast bowlers. Nice fluent action and a good 'snap' at the point of release. As you mentioned your front arm could be further extended and possibly more aligned. Thanks for talking through the process of getting back into bowling

Hey Liam! Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed watching the other Episodes too. I was definitely taking it easy first session and I've been forever encouraging bowlers to work on being relaxed and running well so I hope that shows here despite the fact I hadnt bowled in a while. Happy to hear you enjoyed it mate! - Stubbzy

You were using "bowl a bouncer" cue to bowl on back of a length. How do you actually bowl a bouncer?
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 3 года назад
Hey mate! That’s a really good question. For me I’d tell myself to bowl it over their head. More often than not I’d get it right. But all it takes it one try and then I have a baseline to adjust from. So if it’s not short enough I bring it further back. If it’s too short then I can bowl it slightly fuller
@bowler3376
@bowler3376 3 года назад
Does this mean your body is not co-ordinated when you are using cues to hit particular lengths or does this happen with anyone who tries to put more energy into the ball.
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 3 года назад
@@bowler3376 I'd never use the term anyone because every bowler is different. I'm using cues to coordinate my body, and I'm also developing a feel of what my ideal action is like. So when I have a cue for length, I don't forget everything Ive practiced. So if it doesn't work, then I might go back and work on the technical alignment more. Then add in some skills. Im in an off season phase so i can do this.

Loved the video mate and idea of coaching yourself through a session. Just out of interest, do you have any stills of your action from the other day? You mentioned about wanting to get shape away and I was interested to see your bowling arm in the gather/load up. May be way off here and may not be of interest to you, but would love to see those positions before offering a thought. Great work as per!

Thanks for adding the comment here mate! I do have the bowling footage that I can move through frame by frame. I think most people still see the: - non bowling arm pull a little to the side. Something I’ve worked on which used to be a lot worse - Release point where my wrist moves inside the ball, I do hyperextend need elbow so I’ve had issues getting my release behind the ball. This was mixed with an awful side flexion when I was younger. - Bowling arm you can probably see the elbow points outward in my gather. I’m actually ok with that as long as my upper body is patient and stays side on while my lower body moves first in my delivery sequence.
@gregc9433
@gregc9433 3 года назад
@@TheFastBowler that's interesting. I did notice the bowling arm elbow going out in the gather. I personally wondered if, by aligning that slightly more towards your target, you may find that the non-bowling arm is less inclined to pull down away from the side. For me, I just thought that the non-bowling arm pulling away in this fashion could be a potential compensation pattern/counter balance to the direction of the bowling arm in the load up? Would be interested to see if you gave it a go what the results might be. No worries if you think that its not the answer 👍

@@gregc9433 Yeh mate for sure it’s something I’ll need to work on eventually. This session I was more keen to get the runup and jump going well. Then started thinning about how I’m rotating and ‘pulling’ the front arm in. Usually i get myself into a poor position when I open the upper body too early. So if I can get that right the arms will improve. And then I can add some conscious thoughts. Always love a discussion mate! I think I will do a self analysis video 😂 Should be insightful and hopefully funny!

In the air , before landing the left bent knee is pointing towards first slip .how about it pointing towards like leg slip and How abt Extending the bowling arm to like close long onloosely till midway n letting the lower body go forward n then pulling the arm quickly toward target. Will this work as a cue sir for better hip shoulder seperation timing???
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 3 года назад
Hey my man! I could definitely look at how my legs are moving, I mentioned in the video Im running on a tightrope so I could benefit from doing some running mechanics work to align myself better. This would help my legs as I jump because we know that what happens during the run-up is going to play out through the next phase. Thats probably a few too many internal cues, we want to condense it down into 1 simple external cue. And the hip shoulder separaton focus for now is relaxing and being patient. This will allow me to time the sequence better.

Which exercise should i do for gaining speed and avoiding injury
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 2 года назад
Not sure mate! There's plenty of information out there on social media that can educate you on some basic things. If you're looking for a proper program thats individually tailored to you, then you'll need to invest in a coach. There's some great pages on Instagram, you can check mine out, Nathan Kiely's, Cricket Strength. Those are the pages I've posted a podcast with.

Sir can you suggest me any drill to improve control in load up make it repeatable?
@TheFastBowler
@TheFastBowler 3 года назад
Just practice mate. There's no drill that will be better than bowling. Just don't forget to relax and think about flowing so you can snap through the crease
