The only ones I can think of are THE PHANTOM PLANET and CONQUEST OF SPACE where someone dies. No one dies from a meteor in this one.

Its a movie from the GDR. Partnerships with foreign people and women in men-dominated jobs was a real thing in our society.

Note to self: Effective immediately all family members and employees shall wear large letters on their clothes (front and back of shirts) that indicate their function. The kids wear lower case letters until their 18th birthday. Look into getting Pagri style headgear for adult males.

In fact, its a non american movie. The US just took it (like so many other scifi movies), replaced the commander from a russian to an american, and changed the name of the polish scientist to a french. Oh and they changed the name of the ship from "cosmocrator" to "Cosmostrator"? What is silly enough.

@@Hooderlein I wrote, "it is a NON american movie". Its the east-german movie "Der schweigende Stern" (The silent star). In the original movie, the commander was a sovjet scientist, and the frenchman was a polish. They also changed the name of the spaceship so it sounds more american, and deleted all the scenes about hiroshima (thats why it is around 8 minutes shorter than the original). The same happend to the movie "Planeta Bura" what was copied, changed and censored for the american marked as 2 mash ups ("Voyage to the prehistoric planet" and ".... prehistoric woman").

My how the times have changed with Syfy movies when they first came out it probably had everybody on the edge now fast forward 50 plus years and it's just Old School technology sci-fi that's fun to watch cuz we're living in that moment with new technology that someday people will look back on and think man that's old school

To see the FULL version of this film, look up THE SILENT STAR, same film but 95 mins long (17 mins longer). A Polish / East German colour release from 1960, in German with English subtitles. Most of the extra footage is from the early part (Introduction), of the film's story line. My DVD contains Bonus Material inluding newsreels about The Silent Star (Venus), Biographies of Director, Set Designer & Special Effects Artist,, plus Sci-Fi Trailer Gallery. The additional 17 mins ecplains much of the background to the storyline.

Wow. Is there any classic scifi movie, the US didn't extract out of other movies from foreign countries and labeled as its own product? Thats "The silent star" - a joint venture from studios in the former GDR and Poland. They just made the commander an us american and replaced the OST. Thats disgusting.
