I know how to settle this dispute. The Olympic Team should not select players for their basketball skills but for their popularity. So just select all the female basketball players with the largest social media following. That will be the largest viewing and the best marketing strategy for the WNBA. So when they lose the gold medal I don't want to hear anybody or the sports media say we need to send female basketball players to play in the Olympics. Because you are mad because Caitlin isn't playing but it would be a great marketing strategy but don't stop with her select all the popular players.
PEOPLE, it is NOT about the USA only, people world wide are paying attention to CAILIN CLARK, they are talking about her and want to watch her. This is not about US cable TV, etc., the evidence SHOWS the masses want to watch Caitlin, even across the sea(s). They can bench Caitlin, and when and if the team is ahead in any game and are going to win, then they can put Caitlin in. And easy capitalization. But the evidence is also most WNBA players are racists, they don't want the White girl to win or be champion, they are all in for her to fail. Many of us WOULD watch for her. Lastly, even if only watch for fifteen minutes to see if Caitlin will play, that is more than enough for TV adds to bank on, much more than if she doesn't attend at all.
The old guard of the WNBA don't want Caitlin as the face of women's basketball. Britney Griner has played one game this season (plus she hates America) and Chelsea Gray is injured. Stop. This is a bunch of entitled women who have never turned a profit for the league. The old women's guard would rather lose money and go to Adam Silver and say "please sir, give us more money" instead of standing on their own. Embarrassment to women.

Top 15 in scoring? Since when the hell is that a thing? There are 12 teams in the WNBA 😂. That girl averages 6 TO a game also and leads the league in that category.
A rookie pg with a high usage rate leading the league in TOs? Shocker. Put her around a team full of vets and I’m sure that number goes down. Top 15 in scoring out of 144 slots is still impressive and shows she can still compete.
@dniques328 weak excuses Lol turnovers are turnovers she shud take care of the ball this ain't college and she slow and unathletic so they taking the rock from her it's not complicated media hype don't translate to on court success🤷🏽♂️

I didn't think I'd see the day where I agree with Stephen A. Smith. So the women's basketball team has won 7 straight gold medals before Clark came on the scene. Yet the WNBA still heavily relies on the NBA to subsidize the league. Clearly just winning isn't enough to grow the game to the point where it's financially successfully. And literally NOBODY watches this show to hear what Molly has to say.
Andrea bringing claws out with the championship thing..none of then would have done what CC did with IOWA…in the other hand…with any of the teams BS, DT, CP, Lobbo won championships, with any of them CC would have won a few, while riding a wheelchair…and she has played internationally, won gold all three times, and was the MBP every time too…it’s all because the coach and some of the players can’t stand her success and specially her popularity…that is it..
NBC should announce that since Team USA claims it's not their place to get people to watch them. They will show other competitors there that want people to watch them.

Previously, four WNBA rookies - Rebecca Lobo in 1996, Diana Taurasi in 2004, Candace Parker in 2008 and Breanna Stewart in 2016 - have been selected for Team USA's Olympic rosters, while Christian Laettner made the 1992 'Dream Team' roster as an NBA rookie. Cc is the all-time scoring champion in the NCAA not only for the women, but also for the men. What this means is she has a outscored every superstar that’s currently in the NBA and WNBA that played NCAA ball. This includes Outscoring Curry, Larry Bird, magic Johnson, MJ, Taurasi and all the others!

It’s so frustrating listening to the 2 ladies. Either They can’t seem to get the value of elevating W putting CC on the squad, or they are jealous that CC will be the one to elevate the W on a higher level. Seems
Clark should publicly announce she will not play even if asked, there’s a real likelihood her teammates would hurt her, by accident, in practice, unintentionally, in practice, by accident.

Caitlin Clark is 4th in the league in assists per game with only 2 persons in the whole league having more total assists. 2nd most 3pt field goals made in the league while shooting from deep. probably goes back to 1st after tonight. 13th in the league in scoring everyone above her except 1 has taken more shots and everyone certainly has played more minutes. She's top 10 in total steals.3rd amongst guards in total rebounds by a hair with those above her playing more minutes. 2nd in total blocks amongst guards whist being face guarded picked up full court 94ft double teamed triple teamed media attention scrutiny directly of consecutive championship game college runs. Caitlin Clark is shooting a better percentage from the field than Kelsey Plum shooting better from the free-throw line also approximately 3 times the rebounds more steals more assists and way more blocks while playing way less minutes. Mind you plum has 3 team usa teammates 2 currently playing 1 who is an mvp and an inside out player they're .500 plus they added hayes and you're telling me cc shouldn't be on that team. I am not saying plum shouldn't be on the team for those of you thinking this is about marketing check yourself.
yeah but she's shooting about 28 percent from the field right and she's horrible with the turnover problem too... we'll have to see it get consistently better before anything else
Molly “ do you think people would watch her riding the bench “ stop it. She would get playing time and in hopes like Stephen a said hell yeah I would watch. Hella people would. This subject is crazy
I see why molly divorced lol you see she took a shoot at sas soon at she brought up CC and she think she so smart standing up for the fake jealous sisterhood Hyena
People across the globe are not going to sitting eating popcorn to watch CC. It's not that she isn't a good player, she's not ready for the Olympics. He's just trying to be right. People looking at the Olympics are still not going to look at the WNBA.
NBC could show USA women's basketball live at 2pm from France if Caitlin is on the team.. I think you would get a lot of views for the game. If I am wrong then we are admitting that no one cares about women's basketball at the Olympics. Three of the past five teams had rookies on the team Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker and Brianna Stewart.
Caitlin Clark's Mother's Italian Heritage Attention: Italy Olympic Women's Basketball Team recruit CC to play for Italy ! Then CC scoring fifty points against the USA ! ROFL Lol !
Who cares??? Nobody knew that about 8 straight gold..U know y because nobody cared or covered it...U have somebody that puts a spotlight on women's basketball and then u snub her from the Olympics???That's pretty ungrateful by all accounts...A couple of years down the road they will regret leaving her off the team...I don't think she cares cause it is a honor to play in the Olympics...CC has handled the snub with class and she is not crying about it...
All these years, I thought countries participated to win their events. I never knew it was meant for entertainment!!! What about when the USA men's hockey team beat Russia??? What about Mark Spitz, the Dream Team??? They all won gold medals!!!
Stephen A makes a perfect point but women will never get it. All they’ll do is continue to complain about more pay but not do what’s necessary to get it. He’s wasting time and energy. These new college players come in have strong followings so Caitlin Clark is very popular. But behind her Flo JOHNSON is coming. So these current WNBA players better get used to it and stop being prideful and ride the wave.
So who stayed home when Taurasi, Stewart, and Parker went as rookies. You can't tell me they deserved it. I don't buy into the "You have to have a National Title. " Matching their college stats I would say that either their team won in spite of them not because of them or they didn't have the competition. They went to basketball power houses. Let's see them build a program like Caitlin was doing. Now add the W. Doing better than Taurasi and setting records.
MVP and WNBA champion Nneka Ogwumike was left off for Stewart in another huge snub. They claimed it was because Nneka was hurt even though she was going to be cleared to play in the Olympics. Seems to me like Gray is the obvious choice here for CC to replace.
@@dmorris858 Thank you. My point exactly but both have made comments that CC should be left off. Didn't earn it. Compare her college stats to both Taurasi and Stewart. Not even close.
what's wrong if you take out of the payers nd put cc? thus players need more marketing not this Olympics for everybody... these wnba players are not wothy of my time to watch them... thanks to CC wnba is now elevated to popularity
For the people. Who chose team u s a women's basketball, You didn't pick the best twelve in the league You could honestly take 2 to 3people off of The list put 1 or 2 rookies.and they steal win a gold medal, but gain the world's eyes. So If you wanna be truthful you fucked up. In more than one way
Wow! Guy said they're like 80-0 and the WNBA is still ratchet, singing the blues and trying to collect donations 😅😅 All these wins and zero revenue..😮😢 As usual, missed opportunities.😂
IT'S AN INSULT TO AS'A Wilson, Brianna Stewart and so many others everytime these tv shows say "no one watches the W for anything other than Caitlin Clark".
@@nascarjoe7006 That's the DUMBEST thing you've said yet. CAITLIN CLARK PLAYS FOR THE INDIANA FEVER. so the people that are ONLY WATCHING FOR HER. ONLY WATCH HER GAMES. That's not growing anything except her own popularity. I've watched the W since it's enception When the Comets 3 peated with Swoops, Cooper and Tina Thompson. Real basketball people have been and will continue to watch the ENTIRE LEAGUE play.
@@nascarjoe7006 You can go ahead and keep believing what they're selling. But I'll finish cooking you by saying this. If Caitlin Clark wasn't leading the WNBA in turnovers then she'd be on the team. have a great day. #Cry4Caitlain
The Olympics Aren't about basketball. This is why people despise Caitlin Clark. Y'all keep trying to FORCE FEED her to EVERYBODY. She adds to it with her arrogance. The whole Caitlin Clark thing needed to be Taken Down a few pegs. Kudos to the Olympic Selection Process for keeping the main thing the main thing.

@@nascarjoe7006 ok my bad. I honestly think she could use the break personally. She has to be exhausted dealing with all this stuff . Her time will come
@@emoney001 I agree. My beef is that they knew that she would make the team in March when they invited her to training camp. Really kinda sadistic. Then the wonder why her fans are so upset.
I agree with the Steven A point of view, although I must say that CC scoring record has greatly benefited from the introduction of 3-point scoring. Caitlin Clark, Stef Curry etc would not get nearly as many points per game if they had to drive through to the Basket. In that regard, the 3 point shot is almost like cheating. But that's a side issue, the fact remains that all professional sports is about business first. There is always a business component in every decision made at the professional sports level, that's what separates professional sport from amateur sport. US women's basketball could afford to omit Candace Parker from its 2016 Olympic roaster because she was not box office (and they did not need her to win). Just like the Dream team could afford to omit Isaiah Thomas from its Olympic roster because he was not box office, certainly not on the international stage. instead, they called Magic Johnson out of (his HIV-positive) force retirement and an injured, and all but retired Larry Bird. In other words, they left Isaiah Thomas, the most inform, and arguably the second-best player in the NBA (after Micheal Jordan) off the roster. How was that not a pure business marketing decision? This has to be a first. A decision in professional sports that did not consider what was good for business. Women's basketball cannot afford to be so altruistic it's that simple. It is cutting off your nose to spite your face. It's stupid. Only people who were already into women's basketball might have had an issue with Candace Parker's 2016 omission, but it would not have resulted in a single WNBA supporter (well maybe one or two) from wanting to watch the US women's team win gold. The same cannot be said for the CC situation. I and the whole world will be watching either, or both, the European football Championship and the likes of Lionel Messi play in the Copa America this summer (because I am not a basketball fan) but I have been following the CC story nonetheless. It's too big and too interesting not to get taken in. Without the CC narrative, Basketball, and women's basketball in particular, is as irrelevant to the likes of myself as it has always been. Steven A is right to say that CC inclusion would not diminish the US Roster's ability to win an 8th straight gold medal, but it does diminish the likelihood that anywhere between 5 and 10 times the number of people will want to watch them play. Remember most people only care about sports like gymnastics, swimming, table tennis etc during the Olympics, and women's Basketball definitely falls into that category. Only the Dream team performing on the global stage could have turbo-charged the rapid rise of global basketball, and the massive interest in CC has the potential to do something similar if not the same, if given half a chance. It was a stupid move by any metric.
If SAS wants more marketing for the WNBA then he should talk about the experienced players more and hype up the Two time Champions Vegas Aces more, key word…VEGAS!
Except they've been winning for years. And have been awesome for years. Yet the ratings and viewership and merchandise sales still didn't increase fast enough to be financially viable. I've had WNBA League Pass for years now. The talent is phenomenal and gets deeper every year. But it was still years away. CC has sped that process up exponentially.
Can someone please tell Stephen A Smith he's right.this dude think he's always right.this dude think he's the smartest kid on the block mr never wrong 😂😂
@@nascarjoe7006 The same amount of people that always watch Olympic basketball will remain the same. By the way AT age 42 Diana is above Clark in scoring and 3pt % with 4 less turnovers a game.
Stephen is 100%. I am literally losing interest in wnba… only reason why I got excited to watch it was Caitlyn and Angel. Now y’all losing me with this bickering and drama. Jealousy.
Stephen a is just wrong and his ego won’t allow him to admit it. Caitlyn isn’t an international star yet and she’s not good enough to get minutes unless it’s a blow out. She would play like 3 minutes a game lol that would do nothing to grow the W let her earn her stripes in the W and the international success will come. They won’t let it be organic, with mj it was organic he dominated the Nba so when he went international he already had a name they’re trying to force Caitlyn down everyone’s throat instead of letting it be organic. If she’s as great as they say she is she’ll be able to get to where she needs to be
@@sd21z it’s rating locally, as in America international game is different. She’s not going to bring any viewership to the W by going to the Olympics sitting in the bench and playing 3 minutes a game. She needs to build her pro career and legacy and when it is her time to go to the Olympics she’ll be a starter and her game can flourish and that will attract international fans.
