The show after Game 4 of these 2014 Finals was Stephen A’s saddest moment in First Take history that I’ve ever seen. He was shocked, stunned, heartbroken, flabbergasted, confused, and depressed. It was a sad day knowing the Heat’s big 3 run in miami was essentially over right before our very eyes. It was over a few games before it was really over. Nothing miami could have done, that morning was not fun. It was shocking
I do. Shannon is entertaining as is his interaction with Skip, but the problem with Undisputed is that they rehash the same 3 topics over and over and over again, day after day after day; the Cowboys, Brady and Lebron. To me that more than cancels out that entertaining Skip / Shannon interaction. At least First Take, whether it was with Skip or with Max, discusses a much wider range of topics.
ONLY NBA finals series I remember where it wasn’t as sad to see a team lose in the end vs right before the end after gm 4 they knew it was over, everyone knew it was over including the Heat and the next day on first take even Stephen A looked defeated & said “yeah, it’s over”
Scott Meckley I guess kawhi getting 37 points dropped on his head is good defense. Game 7 of the 2013 nba finals was the biggest game of his career and also the biggest of lebrons at that point in his career. Kawhi didn’t show up in the clutch when his “lockdown defender” status should matter the most. He was playing defense like a scared man, sagging off the screens when lebron was already feeling it from the outside. The next finals he was carried by a spurs team and faced an injured Miami heat team. Just because he stole the ball from someone like Ben mcclemore twice, doesn’t mean he can guard the x-factor when it matters the most.
Scott Mecklet yes! Kawhi Leonard is great. I like him way better than Lebron. Also I bet Kawhi wins the finals and not Lebron this year. Edit: Well, I was wrong. Congrats Lakers 👍
I don't like the spurs but I give credit we're it's due since I've started watching basketball and I'm a lakers fan thus spurs team was absolutely beautiful in how they played basketball they truly deserved to win the championship in 2014 my it was amazing to watch
People in the comments saying this was "prime First Take". But I remember back then, all you racist man-babies hated on Cari and wanted her gone. So cut the crap.
Ppl forgot lebrick lost by a record margin in a finals and still crown him the GOAT. SMH. He not even close to MJ. He way behind Kobe Tim Duncan. Kareem Bill Russell Magic Shaq
You had to be crazy to even think Duncan is on the same level of LeBron All time Great player but cmon, not even close And If you only care about finals and rings then Robert Horry is better than both
Lebron said 8 but coach Poppovich was mocking him. Lebron, go to cry. I need a match Spurs vs Heat again. LJ is nothing. KL can still lock him up. KL outplay him, MVP, and be the champ. Tim Duncan, 5.
+Jc333 The nba is a different system, i'm not defending Lebron, you can only go as far as you can, he was used too much in the finals and supporting cast was no where to be found, like a 1 on 5. Wade and Bosh who were deemed as 'big 3' were just gone
It’s just the spurs we’re way better than the mavs. The truth is lebron choked in the first series and then carried in the last when Dwade was declining 2014 lebron had to carry the mantle.
2014- Spurs is the best team, but in 2015, 2016, 2017, and now 2018, the Golden State Warriors is just putting up a clinic on ball movement and defense.
Can't believe Stephen A tried to say this heat team was "old" I ain't tryna hear that bullshit they lost fair and square besides Miami barely won in 2013 and they pretty much had the same team in 2014
It's great coaching that's a big difference here, too. Poppovich>Spolestra. By a wide margin, folks. Coach Pop is respected, feared and also loved by his players. That's never been the case in Miami. Lebron=most under-coached star player in NBA History. A great coach early on in his career would have pushed him to another level. That might sound crazy to some people, but there's still plenty of room for improvement for James as a player, but more importantly, as a leader.
Man I don’t remember the heat getting totally dominated in this series! 4-1? That’s a gentleman’s sweep! Wow! Terrible loss ! Does Lebron stay in Miami if they win this title and 3 peat? Does he go for 4 in a row?
I agree those numbers LeBron shown was some top player stats, however if you start to break it down, you will realize he put up 1.1pts/min only after the Spurs had a lead of 15 and more but 0.65pts/min when it is a close game during Game 3 and 4. He had more than 50% of the possession when the lead is more than 15, however him alone can't stop the bleeding. If Lebron was more consistent and scored 1.1 pts/min for the whole game, it will be a close game. I am disappointed in Wade and Bosh.
Spurs fans are so obnoxious....y'all have 1 title in 10 years and have been a top 3 west contender top 5 team record wise for all 10 of them...1 title is pathetic......if it wasnt for Tim duman they would have 0....also he was the main reason they won 3 in 5 years... Blair getting wrongfully suspended in 2014 game 4 spurs lose in 6 in round 1 again as a 1 seed to an 8...and lets not forget the finals a.c. game..heat were on pace to win until LeBron went out in the 4th due to cramps cause by the a.c.malfunctioning..heat may have gone up 2-0... ..they got lucky...same thing with ibaka being out for 2 games in 2014 west finals ...
The momentum shift in this series was game 1 heat possibly take game 1 if Lebron didn’t cramp up and I think we have a different series obviously wade wasn’t healthy but no excuses the spurs played beautiful basketball the ball movement the execution the spurs played team basketball!!!!
Did that fool say the Heat and Dallas was equal footing? What? Lebron had a packed squad over a super star and and some decent role players. SAS was cappin his ass off. LeBron was humbled by Dallas and humiliated by the Spurs. He deserved that blame. But I will give him a pass for 07.
This shows the heat didn't deserve their fucking rings last year. No Ray Allen they lose in six. Lebron has one ring that was won during the lockout, what a chump
Bottom line is that Miami won by a narrow margin last year. The Spurs avenged that with a massacre. Moreover, LBJ is 2 and 3 in the finals with 2 of those 3 being losses to Timmy. I like to think of it as karma.
