In today's video we try and get the Audi R8 into gear, as a follow on from the last episode where it wouldn't go into gear with the engine running.... there's a big expensive problem though! Instagram: Saving_salvage
Bent fingers on pressure plate means it’s not fully releasing/uneven clutch plate, usually overheated fingers someone’s been slipping the clutch or it was fitted incorrectly as in not tightening bolts diagonally and torqued up properly like rattling them down clockwise with gun 👍
I remember a few videos back when you said "I don't need to replace the clutch, it looks fine." Then you showed it and I was like... "That clutch looks awful." lol. Sincerely, a man that's replaced several clutches haha.
Bonjour Dean, good job and good idea to check your clutch on the press. Problem could append on this double clutch and off course on single clutch it's damage on the disc center splin and ring. It's appened when you bump the gearbox shaft in the disc center when you assembly the gearbox. The weight of the gearbox is very important and the bump is very heavy. The result is a twisted disk (impossibility to desengage) or spin (tooth) damage and a disk seized on the gearbox shaft. Same result disk doesn't desengage. you could check that if you have time 🙂 Again bravo . BR JC
Last weekend I swapped the clutch on my RX8, after removing the gearbox and clutch in a couple of hours it then took me 3 hours to get the gearbox back on, several failed attempts to get it in position I was ready to give up, sat down, had a cup of tea and chatted to a fellow owner, went back to it and the gearbox was on in 20 minutes, if it wasn't for the fact that it's an inanimate object I could of sworn I heard it say "what?" When it dropped in place. This was carried out in my drive, with axle stands a couple of ramps and a standard trolley Jack. I can fully sympathise with how frustrating it can be replacing a gearbox, at least you had physical help
Great work getting it moving, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the entire series so far. Looking forward to seeing it out on the open road, keep up the great videos man! 🎉
Fair play Dean you have the patience of a saint! Well done boy brilliant stuff, was holding my breath when you tried the gear for the first time, I'm delighted for you👍 thanks for a great video series.
So happy for you to get it into gear and be able to drive it !!! Been following this from the beginning, and i will to the end. Kudos for you Dean !!!!
Great video Dean. Sometimes things DO get very frustrating, but at the end of the day, when it is all sorted, it certainly becomes worth it. Well done!! Cheers, Bob
Dean, well done mate so glad you managed to get to drive the car, albeit by putting in a bloody expensive clutch. Can’t wait to see it fully built and on a proper road test. Keep up the good work and thoroughly enjoying this and the RS Focus ( love that ).
The smile on your face on that test drive said it all Dean 😁😁. I know all the exhaust system isn't fitted, but she sounds an absolute best. Cracking video mate, all that hard work paid off 💯👍
So pleased for you, the engine rebuild alone was a huge job and then to have the clutch problem on top is a nightmare, I really felt your joy when that gear leaver went through the gate ! I have an old 911 and when I finally got to the bottom of an engine problem after two weeks of diagnostics the sense of joy/relief was indescribable.
Jesus Dean. Its great too see that you got it driving lol. You've done alot of hard work on that R8. You looked so happy driving around the yard. Im so happy for you. Great job Dean and Well done. 😊😊
Great video as always - your channel wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t have to take something out straight after you’ve put it in ! Love this series !
Great video. You should get an award for your patience and perseverance with this one. You have worked your **ts off with the R8 and its a brilliant achievement to have it running and driving again👍 Sounds amazing and really looking forward to seing it complete.
An epic problem sorted, well done. Nice to have a bit of humour to your malady with the clutch as you stated in the video you were "clutching at straws!" 🤣🤣
R8 V10 owner here, congrats on slaying that dragon!!! Subscribed and watching your efforts. I once missed fully seating a torque converter in a FWD car and had to pull the engine and trans in and back out 3 times getting it sorted. But I did!
Brilliant news. I've had a few vehicles take me to the limit as well so well done for sticking to it and solving the problem. But £1500 smackers is no joke!
Mate that’s so good I had my fingers crossed when you tried selecting 1st gear. I was surprised in a good way that fixed it didn’t look like there was anything wrong with the old one.
I actually cheered when it went I to gear. Also driving around with the back unassembled. Reminded me of that awsome ad audi ran for the r8. With it on the dyno. Ripping through the gear.
