Nick Wright was very complimentary of this Laker roster before the season started. He said the Lakers won the offseason. When he tells you today he never liked the roster he is lying to you.
Taurean Prince and Reddish were supposed to be the 8th and 9th guys on the roster and he played them significant minutes. That 13 game stretch where he started Prince and Reddish and didn’t start D’Lo and Austin when the reason why the roster was constructed the way it was was because they wanted continuity for their young coach. If they went 6-7 instead of 3-10, their season would’ve been a lot better. To make it even worst, there was a game where Darvin played Prince a lot of minutes vs the warriors instead of Vanderbilt and Prince was -24 and Vanderbilt was +30 and the lakers won by 1 if my memory is correct.
do i think Ham is scapegoat? yes. do i think Ham is a good coach? no. in other words, T-Lue should have been hired over Ham to begin with. But, Perlinka never know how to build a team.
Nick Wright is the best most trustworthy analyst on TV Do you want fake ass people Who lie or just say the company line Nick wears his feelings on his sleeve He's my favorite He's real He's cool He gambles He got a black wife and beautiful kids I love this guy
Vogel is the guy that got the raw deal. He should not have been fired because of the mistakes of management and the meddling stars. Honestly, I think Vogel should still be their coach right now. He had an unimaginative offense, but his defense (both scheme and philosophy) was rock solid and the team’s identity was iron clad. Ham is an assistant level coach (capacity wise). He has no business being in that lead chair. He has great qualities as an assistant. He is a players guy and he is good at communicating and motivating. His problem is being able to think, improvise and visualize the game.
They dont care. As long as they have a top 10 player in the league they are relevant. People would rather watch Kobe and the Lakers lose than watch a contender. The numbers have shown it over the years.
@@kennethstone4590 No… He is a major reason for that underachieving. He is a bad head coach. He is a great assistant level coach, head coach is not him (not right now).
"They might be the second best team in the League?" What? Come on, they struggled all season, finished in the play-in and lost in 5 in the first round. And just stop it with the injuries! Every NBA team has to deal with players in and out.
crazy how we publicize that someone's being fired. this is a human being with a family to provide for and personal things he is taking care of, and it's entertainment.
Everyone talks about ty Lou but they must forget at his end with Cleveland people were saying he wasn’t a good coach and his lineups and game plans didn’t make sense. Now he is some great coach? How are the clippers doing with all those star players. Yea kawahi is hurt all the time but you have George right now harden Russ and good role players and what’s happening.
@michaelkelly4314 lakers two best players been hurt just the same but for some reason clippers get a pass but lakers don't lol bron 39 and slow he not even 75 percent of what he use to be AD not strong enough to even take the mantle from Bron. I think that's the true injustice for the lakers
@@pierrechantalcorley7928 That's fair but both AD and Bron played over 70 games this season. They had other injuries to role players but the main guys were there. Kawhi it seems is never healthy though and he's the Clippers best player
The writings were on the wall... After winning the In-Season tournament, LA was in a funk for a while before eventually turning things around and making the Playoffs Ham is a very good young coach but not equipped yet to lead LA to the promise land. Totally agree with Charles Barkley though. What about also moving Pelinka? who ultimately called the shots for Westbrook's sign-in, Caruso's departure etc. etc. As crazy as this is going to sound, I think coach Ham should have been let go or relegated to Assistant Coach earlier right when Ime Udoka was up for grabs on the market Udoka would have been a hell of pick-up for LA to bring in the kind of continuity and head coaching we need to succeed over the long-run
The Lakers should fire Gabe Vincent and Jared Vanderbilt if anyone. They did not earn their paycheck; Coach Ham did. Darvin really overachieved considering the fact that his best shooter AND most versatile defender missed the entire season.
The Lakers organization doesn't have to do anything because despite being a mediocre basketball team with an aging star, the media treats them like they are perennial contenders with 20 plus nationallly televised games every season. Magic Johnson even said, the Lakers still make money even when they lose.
Blaming the lineup is stupid as hell, the NBA is on the players, especially when your squad has veterans on it. You think Andrea Iguodala wasn't starter quality? They were a powerhouse because he embraced his role, again which is not a problem with good veteran leadership, the Lakers don't have a leader
He did have issue with spo. Remember he bumped him on purpose and wanted him fired but Riley told to go to hell that’s his guy and he better figure it out with Spo
Crazy how Ham is getting blamed for the whole thing. As if there's any gameplan for DLo giving you zero points in a game, or Reaves deciding to only show up when the game is all but over, or when only AD plays defense so he's gassed by the 4th, or when LeBron decides to shoot a wide open 3 (and misses) instead of bleeding the clock, or when LeBron constantly goes to sleep on missed shots and allows Gordon to rebound everything. These are the things that are on the players, not coaches. This team sorely lacks defense and rebounding, which is why they haven't been a legitimate contender since the Bubble. They don't have Rondo, Howard, Caruso, KCP, etc. Defense matters when trying to be part of that upper tier of teams. It really just comes down to Lakers nation being unable to admit that getting swept in the WCF isn't that great of an achievement. We saw the Blazers do it in 2019 and they weren't considered title contenders. The 2015 Rockets made the WCF and they weren't legit. Same with the 2013 Grizzlies. Getting to the conference finals in itself means nothing. You gotta make it a battle, like the Spurs in 2012 when they lost to the Thunder, the 2018 Rockets when they lost to the Warriors, or the Kings in 2002. That's when you can really say a WCF appearance mattered.
Austin Reeves is the Golden Boy. LeBron and AD should take a huge blame. Get rid of the coach isn’t the answer when the Lakers get their asses kicked out the first round🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
A lot of revisionist history regarding Darvin ham because some of these media heads starting watching lakers in March…this guy cost the lakers at least 10-15 games (I’m being generous) for dumb shit like time outs, playing bench players 40 mins (prince), constantly leaving player open for three as strategy and the list goes on. The team looked unprepared, undisciplined and not focus on details …if that’s not on the coach then I don’t know what is
To be honest, I think they do an Austin Reaves a disservice I don’t think I think Austin Reeves is like they’re actually fifth best player not their third. I actually would’ve had Rui in the starting lineup and been having Rui featuring him a lot more kind of having him in Austin kind of share that roll or whatever.
As a lakers fan who never missed the game ham is just a bad coach. The constant changing of the line up. Putting players in bad position and having them do things not in their bag he’s the worst at. Half the season we had Prince as our starting point of attack defender. Instead of playing max christie more he benched him one of the top defenders and shooters on the team. A three and d guy who when he did play him he made him handle the freaking ball?!!! What?
Scapegoating is what happens when a team underdelivers. They lost to the reigning and soon to be current champions. They didn’t underachieve so there’s no scapegoat it’s just trying to improve at one of the many positions on the team
I don’t wanna hear that 2nd best, keeping running into Denver nonsense cause when James harden kept running into the warriors nobody gave him that excuse
Hilarious, gets to Western Conf finals, wins in season tournament and now he's trash? It's LeBron and AD when you win and the coaches fault when you lose.
Nobody wants to coach this dam team as long as lbj is there. It never fails, when this guy looses its always somebody’s else’s fault. And there’s nobody in the sports media world is willing to call out his ass.
Not a scapegoat, he is not a qualified head coach. Pelinka should also be responsible for the outcome. Ham should know as a coach that AD and LBJ are not 25 or 26 years old; they are 31 and 39; they cannot afford to play the minutes they play. Even if you would lose a game or two, you should pay attention to their usage time. Pelinka is a qualified agent but not a qualified general manger. How come a championship oriented team without a center backup? AD has been banged up as a main defender and team scorer; he is really the most valuable player. Further more, how many useless players has he signed this past year?
This Milwaukee fan sure thought it was a dumb knee-jerk reaction to fire our championship winning coach for losing a series to the eventual eastern conference champs. That they were the 8th seed doesn’t matter. On top of that people dont realize his brother died suddenly before the fourth game. I dont care how professional you try to be thats gotta affect a guy. And Giannis was hurt for most of the series.
All i know in life is if your brons coach you better be ready to pack them bags because you gone get scapegoated for his failures and short commings even tho legm assembles the teams that he loses with and claims isnt enough help same thing if you play with bron you gone get scape goated like ad played better than bron in the post season he actually played defense and had better stats and just impacted the game more despite the numbers lebron just dont lift the team up like he used to anymore man he just doesnt
Doesn't matter who the coach is as long as the coach killer LeBron is on the team. You're not gonna be allowed to coach the way you want to with him thinking he's the coach and the organization doing whatever he wants.
Should if played max and Vando. Vand9 could have guarded Murray that last play. And learn how to use timeouts. Also learn how to not stop doing whats working
The 5 best players? This is the same guy that acts like Lebron has no help any time they lose. He will even go after AD. The second best team in the league? Chris must have hit that blow before the game.
