the thing about Indonesian street food is that some of them are served with just a little bit of seasoning, and they provide condiments on the table (spicy sambal, sweet soy sauce aka kecap manis, salty soy sauce, pepper, vinegar, even salt) so you can create your own "concoction" to make it taste to your liking. so if you happen to find a dish that tasted very mild, look for the condiments and have fun with it. make it sweeter, saltier, spicier, more acidic or a combo of everything.
This is a great tip and so true. There were sides on every table we sat at, so it was very much a "choose your own adventure." It was a great day of eating 😀
@typusmegantropuserectus Kaleum, Kak. Itu Kakak nya bilang kalau makanan jajanan di Indonesia biasanya nyediain saos sambel, saos tomat, kecap manis, kecap asin di meja nya. Bukan bilang kalau makanan Indonesia ngga ada rasanya.. 😁
@@SayurMayurIjokebiasaan marah dulu ini netizen 😅 di komentar awal tulisannya "some of them" bukan berarti semua makanan Indonesia, dia cuma kasih tips kalau saos/kecap/sambal (condiments) di meja itu emang sengaja disediakan buat nambah cita rasa, jadi jangan ragu buat ditambahkan kalau rasanya mild/kurang nendang. Ga ada yang badmouthing atau jealous of your beloved country, dia kasih saran bahkan bilang have fun.
Hi there! I’m that waiter on your video that served you at Mie Ayam Gondangdia, Thank You for visited our place and tried our best seller menu, glad you like and enjoyed it! 🥰 if you ever comeback to Jakarta, come visit us again, and try our others food on the menu 🎉
That's very impressive to get all the details info even the cultural stuff background or history behind the "warteg" and that's very bold move to end the night with that spicy noodles, hope you were alright lol
Some Indonesians are insane when it comes to chilli. Some folks (tribes) have dishes which has spiciness level +100 than the noodles in your videos. I had taste some before and I was almost dead chugging those waters and not blowing my face off😂I totally relate how Nate feels.
how to eat chicken noodles in Indonesia, please stir the noodles with chicken and vegetables to eat, it will create a real taste, not a flat taste when you chew, the spiced chicken taste will spread in the noodles, don't eat them one by one but mix them evenly, then use the broth This is to make your mouth fresh again after you chew the noodle mixture with seasoned chicken. It's best not to pour too much broth into your bowl of noodles because it will reduce the taste of the seasoned chicken meat👌this is just an input for people who are eating it for the first time. Indonesian chicken noodles especially with separate broth😁👌
We actually eat mostly using spoon on the right hand and fork on the left hand, the idea basically we trying imitate the most natural way of eating with hands using utensils..😂
That's not potato... thats ketupat/ lontong (Rice cake). There are 2 ways to eat CHICKEN PORRIDGE.. 1. Mix the porridge well 2. The porridge is not mixed... What kind of team are you on? I'll mix it well..😍 My porridge must be spicy chili sauce & sweet soy sauce OMG.. you choose 50 chilli???😮😮😮😮 I'm indonesian, i love spicy but never eat 50 chilli🙈 Not good for my mouth, my stomach, my bottom🙈
Hey Guys I’ m Indonesian who live in Europe and I know this Mie Ayam Gondangdia , they’re legend man!! Since 1970 bro !!! They are so good and I miss this noodles have fun in hiatus and thanks for sharing Indos food good luck for your vlog
Itu mereka di daerah mana si klakson Mulu Kya di prindavan, di Samarinda klakson ga pernah kedengaran dijalanan paling cmn digunain buat nyapa temen dijalan wkk
10:20 that is not potato, that is rice cake. Indonesian rice cake called Lontong Lontong: rice cake wrapped in banana leaves. Ketupat: rice cake wrapped in coconut leaves. Mostly, Sate/ satay is served with lontong.. You should dip the Lontong into the sauce. It'll be tastier 😁
Terima kasih banyak..sudah berkunjung ke Indonesia tercinta dan sudah mencicipi berbagai kuliner pinggir jalanan di Indonesia..selamat menikmati..semoga betah di Indonesia. 🙏🥰💞🇮🇩👍...
a thing that rarely mentioned, is that some South East Asian countries are using phonetic language, spelled exactly like how they're written. and luckily, Indonesian language is one of them. this makes learning how to pronounce them become easier (if not much more), and at the same time, drastically reduce any chance of mispronounce since the possible variations become really limited due to being phonetic... (might even be able to spell them with almost 100% accuracy before you guys even know what each words mean) with exceptions of some assimilated/borrowed words, for the vowels, in general, they usually go like this: - a, like the a of delta, or when dentist asks us to open mouth and say "aaaah" - i, like both i of India - u, like both u of Zulu - o, like the o of bravo, tango - e might be trickier than others, since there are 2 variations, which both are present in English word "enter". it'll take time to learn which ones using the first "e", and which ones using the second "e" most consonants are more or less the same as English. maybe some of these: - c, like children, cheese, choose, but without the "h" (we rarely have words that stick c and h together) - g, like gaga - Indonesian "r", personally, I'd say it's similar to Spanish or Russian. it's a clear "r" where the tongue vibrates at upper palate
😊 itu sate padang..beda dengan sate madura. Banyak sate..di indonesia..broo...semua punya cita rasa.berbeda saat kamu menikmatinya..welcome to indonesia..🇮🇩 for you brother....
Why don't you find out about Islam. And you can compare the Quran and the Bible. In Islam, Jesus is a prophet, not a god. And God is one, not three......
There are 2 types of people in Indonesia regarding bubur (boo boor) 1. Those who mixed 2. Those who don't Some years ago, these two types of people were having silly fights over the internet that lasts for weeks. As for me.... I am a mixed bubur person.... those of you who don't mixed bubur should cry because in this video... SHE MIXED THE BUBUR... YEAH... 💪🏽😎 Now those of you who don't mixed bubur should contact Elon Musk and leave the earth....and cry...!!! 😡
I don't think they put tomato paste.... it's pure fresh chilli...i have tried....it literally kills me...with 50 chilli..i watched it when they making it....they didn't know i was watching them making it 😂
How about the JCO donuts guys ? You missed it 😁 also comparison between american KFC, Mcdonald, Subway, Dunkin donuts versus Indonesian...hahahah 😅 we like your videos and i've already subscribe.
About roti like in Phuket you meant..we hv similar to it called Martabak(Arabic maybe) telor..and sandwich with butter n chocolate sprinkle..Dutch..remember..Indonesia colonosed by Dutch for 350 years😊❤

2:03, Mie ayam it's mean Chinese noodle ? 😅 woooww....where did you get that name ? So, Mie ayam Indonesia same with Chinese noodle right ? Because mie ayam from Indonesia is imitating Chinese noodle...so basicly Indonesia doesn't have spesific food from noodle, everything from China....China....China....& China. 😂 Halo saudara2ku orang Indonesia. Ternyata kata bule ini mie ayam bukanlah berasal dari negara kita, tapi dari negara China, semoga aja Indonesia tdk dilaporkan oleh China ke lembaga WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) atas klaim pengakuan & pembajakan karya intelektual makanan mereka (China) yg bernama mie ayam. By the way, thank's for your information dudes 🙏😅
"roti" just means bread here. but if you're looking for a thin flatbread kind of roti, then i'd suggest getting yourself some roti canai (also called roti maryam) or roti paratha. you can get it with curry, or simply with sweet condensed milk. they usually sell roti canai at acehnese stalls/restaurants. get yourself some cold teh tarik too while you're at it! these stalls are usually open until midnight. also, watching this makes me miss jakarta. great vid!
You have to eat it all together (mixed). Eat it all with rice, if not it will be over flavor. In Indonesia, there's a phrase that every little child would know, phrases that parents and teachers taught us since we could remember, that phrase is "Empat Sehat Lima Sempurna" (literally in english, 4 healthy 5 perfect), means: our daily food should consist of rice(carbohidrate), vegetables(fiber), meat(protein), and fruit(fiber n vitamin), this is healthy, but to be perfect we add Milk as the fitfh
Please guys (specially foreigners), don't say all with the word 'curry'. Indonesian cuisine 97% has no curry in them. please say 'gulai' from now on and they refer to sauce cooked with coconut milk. Have fun exploring food in Indonesia, you're welcome anywhere here!
if you want to say something in Indonesian language, dont pronounce your alphabet like english, alphabet in Indonesia is more similar like pronounciation in spanish, not english
Often when foreigners visit Indonesia, they face difficulties in communicating...unfortunately they rarely use the convenience of Google Translate. How to pronounce Indonesian In fact, just type and listen..or just talk and then Google Translate automatically translates and listens.., this way there will be better communication and mutual understanding.
Please don't underestimate the level of spiciness in the tropical countries, especially in Indonesia. Because that's different kind of chili which only find in Indonesia. For foreigner especially from western world, I repeat don't underestimate the spiciness of tropical country's chili. Those just make only painfulness not enjoying eating.
you are so brave to take pedas garuk... that's 50 pcs of cabe jawa... java chili, which taste is more spicier than your mother and father's word combined when they really mad for what you did when you are kids... wawww... but thank you for trying our food and introduce to international community, apologize to amazing traffic of jakarta, espcially the tootoot one with the bluish flashing light, but they're not the flashlight of the camera though....
The gultik one is always making me wondering why don't they make its portion like, normal portion. Just doesn't make sense. But the flavour is incredible.
tayangan RU-vid terlalu panjang, harusnya cukup 1 sampai 2 menu yg ditampilkan, dan cukup maksimal 15 menit per episode, bosen kelamaan nontonya, padahal menarik RU-vid kulinernya.
You missed the combination of chocolate and cheese with that roti bakar. In Indonesia, choco and cheese combo are very popular. So if you want to try them next, try the martabak manis chocolate, cheese, and peanut flavor (if you not allergic to nuts) it is so heavenly delicious 🤤
I watch your video and now im subscribe your youtube. I feel im proud of you because you wann to try Indonesia food and you guys like it. Warteg is kinda franchise Tegal *restaurant* Usually have word *Bahari* in it. Because City of Tegal located near by the sea. *Bahari* means laut / sea.
Hai, im indonesian who live in Belitung, a little island in north java. Lets visit belitung, you can find beautiful beach with cheap acomodation, come in, im waiting you guys 😊
Fun fact about Bubur Ayam. There are two types of people when it comes to eat Bubur. There is one who mix it all together, and one who eat it just the way it is. There's a lot of argument which one is the better way to eat Bubur. For me personally, the taste is better when you eat it mixed, but I admit, it doesn't really looks appetizing lol.
I really have to ask you, do you have stomach problem after eating those? Because most of my friends were playing safe, only eat at fancy restaurant when visiting Jakarta, and their reasons were they were afraid to to get stomach problem. But you really get down to the real street foods of Jakarta. Cool video!
Zaman presiden Suharto tahun 1997 bule sangat rame didaerah2 hampir seluruh propinsi di Indonesia kamipun saat itu sempat menjadi freelance sekarang sepi gara2 terorisme dan Islam2 radikal.😢
8:37 Bakmi boy behind you is one of my favorite mie ayam in pasar santa Jakarta selatan, especially the mie ayam pangsit special and fresh iced young coconut water..mmmm (jadi lapar bsk kesana ah)
If you go to Jakarta to find streetfood, it's a mistake, people usually go to hang out and look for food they prefer go to the mall, the culture of the mall in Jakarta is crazy, come on, there are hundreds of malls in Jakarta, but I don't see it in single video, and better just use mrt if you don't want to be stuck in traffic, and sometimes in certain places people in Jakarta will be possessed by klaxon, idk it seems like a new culture has been add😅 i feel shamed about it😅🤣
50 chilli . brave tourist . i wont be able to enjoy that amount of chilli because the taste would be only spicy . 10 chilli was enough to get the "spicy" and keep the taste of the food
