It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

@@ChickadeePlays I'm with you but I had posters of backstreet boys on my walls but knowing what I know now. BTS is a special. They sing dance, rap, write, produce, speak many languages, they love to read, play instruments. Plus, they are so creative. Their live stages are legendary and their concerts, you have never seen anything like their concerts. AND They are actual artists who can draw and paint. I know this is random but I would put RM up against the world in MATH. He's amazing figuring out math problems on Problematic Man the Tv Show.

I'm a grown man so I thought kpop would be lame. But what fascinates me about BTS is their video production, their rapping skills, their insane dance skills, their use of symbology and overarching storylines through separate videos, and their overall story. also this song has a lot of autotune for a reason in short the theme of their latest album is a celebration of their 7 years together so blending their voices together was part of that symbolism as their fan I was confused too bc I couldnt recognize their voices individuallly but that was the purpose of the song to begin with, most of their songs dont have it and if u hear them live they all sound exactly like the recording of their songs so it doesn't matter and yes their live performances are insane
@regularchallenge...9059
@regularchallenge...9059 4 года назад
Lol every musical artist has autotune tho, or pitch correcter, they still had it in their previous songs, people who sound really good still use it because it smoothes the voice out and musical producers just do it because it sounds more polished. Not cause they sound bad cause they don't, they sound like kings with or without autotune😍💜 But yeah, recently they used more for the vibe just like how most rappers do. Singers use it but you get used to it so you can't tell if its without autotune or with when they sing

The entire song is inspired by a quote from Martha Graham (an American dancer and choreographer, one of the so-called "great four" founders of American modern dance): "A Dancer dies twice. The first time is when he stops dancing, and this first death is much more painful." This is what the guys are singing about: how, after becoming well-known stars and celebrities, they can lose love for their work, thereby losing themselves. They remind themselves, their listeners, and, of course, their fans that the most important thing in creative work is creativity, not fame and popularity. You can't let fame, wealth, and almost intangible success overshadow the most important goals of your creative path. For both dancers and singers, the first death is the loss of interest and love for their own works, for their work: the loss of passion and the urge to create - that's what really scares the most popular group in the world.

BTS is a world class group. They are amazing artists that produce and compose their songs with help of their label Big Hit. They are really involved in their own music and the message they want to spread from each song and album. They are successful as a group and as solo artists. They were honored by their own president and have achieved so many goals. “Started from the bottom and now are on the top”. I’m summary: - Their music is deep. - They have a storyline that goes through many MVs and it still goes. - Their dance choreographies are meaningful and the live performances are another level. - They have so many talents. @em5522 4 года назад
Yeah, you got it! No worries👍And everyone adds another year every New Year (Jan 1). Just to make it easier to find your age: add 1 to your international age if you've had your birthday and add 2 if you haven't. Example: If I was born in December 2020, I'd be considered 1 in 2020 in Korea. Then I'd be 2 on January 1, 2021. But my international age would barely be 2 months old at the same time. By the time my birthday in December 2021 comes, I'd be 1 year old internationally, but I'd still be 2 in Korea at the same time.

Interesting the things you take up. They put out a documentary (commentary : Dialogue) about the newest album and the use of real music vs the digital music in their songs. Black swan sounds digitalised. They are wholesome performers and their lives are lit. Some concerts they use a live band. Also most lyrics are about arts, philosophy, psychology and social context. There is an alternative storyline and many fans find it fun to figure out that (it is kind of a puzzle) the genre is wide Dionysius is a litt live performance.

What makes people love BTS is more than their music and talent which is a huge part but it's also who they are as people. They have done so many good things and inspired so many people with their moving lyrics that touch on topics that aren't normally discussed in Korea. They talk about self love and encourage others to love themselves. They work ridiculously hard and write and produce their own music. They also truly appreciate their fans. They were the underdogs that rose up. If you wanna know a little background on where they came from and how far they've progressed is watch BTS nobodies to legends. I think that's the appeal of K-pop in general. It's not only the music, but the whole performance that combines music, dance, stage precense and outfits. The western world has had similar concept of making the music more than just the song, but the production values and work ethic in South Korea has changed the whole concept into the K-pop we see today.
@Anne-pd2hk
@Anne-pd2hk 4 года назад
I really appreciate how thoughtful your analysis was of this song. Just the fact that you read the lyrics was great. I'd say the lyrics are the main reason I like BTS. I initially wrote them off as another flashy boyband and then regretted it because I lost so much time when I could have been listening to their music! There are lots of kpop groups that I'm just not into because they sing about the same boring stuff western pop does -- being badasses, angry about a boyfriend/girlfriend, wanting to get freaky, blah blah blah. BTS sings about things that matter. Their last albums have been heavily influenced by Jungian psychology and perceptions of self, and they've spoken at the United Nations, as well as launched a UNICEF campaign to end youth violence. They do have some cheeky songs, because you can't be serious all the time. :) But the newer ones are actually written with intention and deeper meaning than it first seems. Some of their freshman stuff is not my thing (they were just teenagers back then, so it didn't really appeal to me). But their sound matured as they did (they are all in their twenties -- the oldest has to enlist in the South Korean army by the end of the year) and they've been doing this since 2013. They are overall amazing performers and amazing human beings, and I'm so glad you checked them out. :) Edit to add: If you want to see their live stuff (and a different side to them), check out Come Back Home + No More Dream + Mic Drop. Such a good performance that shows off their rap/hiphop roots.

I love my bts guys ...the song also have an mv with some talented kids with a contemporary dance theme .It was part of one of bts projects where they promote art and they teach people about contemporary culture [the project its called CONNECT BTS ] Also this song its part of their album ''Map of the soul 7'' which its based entirely on Jung's Map of the Soul ...a book that explores the conscious and unconscious ...Backstreet Boys are not even close in comparison to BTS , in fact Bts are what Backstreet Boys wanted to be all their lives but they never succeeded :]]]]], these boys talk about serious things and they support important matters not only with their goodwill but also with a big percent of money that goes to UNICEF and they are like that because there was a time in their lives when they shared one room and struggled to pursue their dreams...

Just a note, the Art film version has even more autotune and distortion on their voices. It's like they were trying to mesh all the voices together.

Your thoughts are the exact thing I think a lot about as well. With BTS,you are absolutely right, it's the combination of everything,from talent and dedication to attention to details and production value,that constantly keeps you on your toes,stimulates senses and thought process and leaves you wishing for more. In addition,their personalities not only as performers but also as what they are behind the spotlight, that's really endearing and precious for all of us. Two years ago my interests in music were so far away from what is considered k-pop, it was never my for taste. But the very first time I saw BTS in particular,their message and wholesomeness just jumped on me through the screen. I still consider it as one of the best discoveries I ever had.

This song really lends itself to the entire discussion on how important the actual song is versus the packaging and also to the comparison of computer versus ~real instrument since multiple versions exist. I personnally go back and force between both the classical and the modern version of black swan, there's definitely something almost hypnotic about this version that makes me come back to it, while the classical version is so laden with emotion that I sometimes feel as if it's causing me pain. Thank you for your lovely reaction!

I appreciate your reaction and the positive feedback! It’s a bit hard to base them on one MV and to understand why they are so popular, especially Black Swan since it’s very different. They are versatile with different genres so you can’t exactly pin them down to a single genre. If you end up watching more I’d recommend these videos and explain why. Spring Day (this song has forever been a favorite of mine because the message and meaning of the MV and song itself is very deep and sad, but also in a way hopeful. It’s more of a Brit pop vibe, but nonetheless a ballad type song), Mic Drop (this one is for people more into Hip Hop and Rap, the MV is filled with Hip Hop dancing as well), ON come prima manifesto film (the song is called on but this specific MV has the famous Blue Devils marching band featured and includes real recorded instruments from a marching band, along with a choral group, and the dancing is phenomenal. Overall one of the best performances imo), Fake Love (has more of a dark vibe, lyrics are deep, different aesthetic overall), Singularity (solo song from V, but chosen because it’s an R&B choice and the MV is really nice), Shadow (solo from Suga, this one is a rap solo but has a bit of a rock feel for me towards the end), and if you really want a bubble gum pop type song Boy with Luv fits that.

BTS has been releasing quality music since their start in 2013. I randomly found them in 2014, which lead me to add every single BTS song at the time to my playlist. That was a lot of songs, especially for a group that's only been around for a year. But when I liked 99% of everything I heard, I knew there was no going back. Besides the music, their performance, their energy, their passion, and even their personalities are like big lucky bonuses.

thank you so much for taking time to react to bts!! just wanted to clarify a few things: they aren't a pop/k-pop band. bts don't like being called a k-pop group or being limited to genres of music. they say the genre of their music is bts. but, they do have pop, rock, hip-hop (bts were originally a hip-hop group), etc. the only difference is that their music is in korean. the group consists of seven members: rm, jin., suga, j-hope, jimin, v, and jung kook. they have four vocalists (jimin, v, jung kook, and jimin) and the other three are rappers (suga, j-hope, rm). they do have songs with less auto tune, but they also have a few songs with a lot more. it'd be much appreciated if you didn't compare bts to any western boy bands. bts aren't your usual boy group. they discuss many more important topics. the journey to self love, their past issues with mental health, the school system, the love they have for both their music and their fandom, etc. jung kook has discussed his lost childhood since he was only fifteen when bts debuted and was thirteen during the training process. they put a lot of hard work into their music and were trainees for years. and, bts are actual dancers. jimin was in school for dancing, he mostly did contemporary (which was the dance style for "black swan", which was why he was mostly center. he was the one with blue hair. :( my baby.) and, j-hope helps choreograph and teach the other members their choreography since he is the dance leader of the group. before bts, he did street dancing and was in a group. so no, they aren't anything like nsync or the backstreet boys. thank you again!! :)

Lyrics and storytelling is the most important, that made me a BTS fan. But you are right, performace, visual production and dance is a huge plus. Still, to me, lyricism, storytelling, cultural value are the most outstanding. I would admit versatility is another big appeal. And, to me, their entertainment content and characters makes me more emotionally attached to them as people.

Some things about this boys. Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with kpop ** 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers. Actually the older have 28 years. 2. Bts compose and produce their own music, so is very personal, they talk about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) have to read a several books and study set, philosophy, psychology and mythology to understand. Their last album for example was "map of the soul:persona" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Jung. 4. The army love them because they are good people who through a lot of bad things to be where they are now, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres and you can find subtitles in every possible language. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals

I hope you go the same route with BTS you did with Melanie, bcs BTS have been doing the "music video universe" for a longer time than her. Their music videos connect and tell a story, we call it the Bangtan Universe. BTS is celebrating their 7th anniversary on June 13th, so they aren't a young band at all. Every artist uses autotune and BTS don't use it much to "perfect" their voices, they use it more for stylistic choices, here in Black Swan, the autotune makes them all sound fairly similar: it's all of them coming from the same point, sharing the same worries, the same fears.

also about the auto tune part here, it was intentional. you would need context here. so this song is part of the album MAP OF THE SOUL:7 which looks into their whole career as an artist and they try to portray their emotions and them AS A GROUP. so they did the auto tune in order to make their voices seems almost non distinguishable and them as ONE. you should never ever miss out on their lyrics. they have expressed their insecurities as an artist, i.e, their fear of falling out of love of their passion for music as they get more and more popular with time. they believe that an artists dies twice, the first is when they lose their passion for the art and second hen they physically die and the first death is always more painful. however, as the second half, they suddenly wake up in their studios and realised that music is all they have. they saw inside themselves after a lot of contemplation and came up with the conclusion that they are not going to be swayed away by such insecurities. the first half of the song expresses their existential crisis and fear but by the second half, they state they will not let this fear devour them. they will fight against it.

Plz check their live performances, you can hear them without auto tune and amazing performance And the production on their MVs is always insane. And this is not just any boy band. This is the biggest Music Boy Band currently in the world. And the song has a deeper meaning based on the Black Swan. This song is about their fear of losing their passion. Most of their MVs include a lot of book references and Artwork
