As a newbie to fishing, I still have a lot to learn about fishing. Listening and learning from more experienced anglers can open a whole new world of possibilities. One of my viewers has provided me with a sinking float or bobber. Follow me out to Las Vegas's Sunset Park as I try out this style of fishing for trout, called Bombarda fishing.
Special thanks to the viewer who donated the bombards to the channel.

Thanks for the video Vern. Winter fishing is always tough. The toughest part is slowing down.

we use these for seatrout, a little tip is when casting is to abruptly stop the line before the bombarda touches down, this sudden stop will unfurl your leader better and give you a better presentation

Hi Vernon, It's Renee, again. Watched your latest video and thank you. I then went to the web and read everything on the Bombarda rig. My question is: what advantage does it have over a Carolina rig? Too me it seems almost the same type of rig. Thanks, Vernon.
@FinallyFishing
@FinallyFishing 2 года назад
Hi Renee, that's a good question. The Carolina-rig is typically used for baits and baitfish. The bombarda can do the same but is more used for lures. Things you want to give movement to attract fish. The see trough nature of the bombarda makes it less likely to scare away fish, compared to the solid lead weight of the Carolina rig. I know the gopro does not show it that good, but the bombarda does have a greater casting distance. I think it is more aerodynamic or something. So their uses might overlap, but it is made for different reasons.

I’ve never had much luck at Sunset Park personally. Beautiful day out there though. Might be time to start getting out myself.

It is a good time to get out there, not hot yet. Even if you don't catch anything, still a good way to just chill. Hope you get out and enjoy it David.

Good video Vernon. Bummed you weren't very successful using this new technique, but hopefully in the near future. Are you planning to attempt another shot at Willow Beach maybe going for trout there? Either looking forward to more videos. Take care.

Thanks D Jr. Might try Willow Beach again soon, but I am in no rush. Spring is around the corner and that means fishing for spawning fish will be my focus.

I would suggest to keep the rod low and slow and to try change up your speed. Depending on the day the fish may bite differently. It works really well with just the bombarda with a swivel and a bobber stopper to keep it from going up. Then maybe 4-6 feet to a small hook with a pink powerbait worm. You should try it and see if it works better.

Thanks for the tips Uahoo! I will surely give it a try. I Have to say I enjoy the different style of fishing the bombarda brings.

Where did you find the Bombarda float? Can you provide a link?
@louiechidwick6034

What's the advantage of using a bombarda 'float'? Surely using a barrel lead weight will give you distance and also take the lure to the bottom just as effectively?
@FinallyFishing
@FinallyFishing 8 месяцев назад
Yes but also no. I often use a Carolina rig, and like you say, they do the same thing. But the bombarda has a few tricks up its sleeves. Being a see through plastic, it is not as visible in the water like a chunk of lead. Important when fishing clear water, not so much for murky water. But it has a slower fall rate in the water. And lifting the the rod lifts the bombarda of the ground giving another slow fall for the lure. So I don't think it's better, just different, and that can make all the difference "Sometimes"

You’ll get a farther cast if you use a braided line👌🏽
@FinallyFishing
@FinallyFishing 2 года назад
True story Jessie. But braid floats and is a lot more visible. That's the trade off we have to make I guess. I have seen fish turning away from lures when using braid with a six foot floro leader.

Sorry Steve no links for that too. I was handed a bombarda by one of my viewers. I would suggest amazon as a good place to start. or a tackle shop on the coast might also sell them.

@connorroberts1884
@connorroberts1884 2 года назад
@@FinallyFishing sorry, the guy who recommended the bombarda said he caught a 45 lb carp recently. that's not crazy in most places in Europe/Africa/Asia, but I I believe the Arizona state record and the Nevada state record are both around the 35lb mark
@FinallyFishing
@FinallyFishing 2 года назад
Ah, got you Connor. We fishermen often like a bit of embellishment. 😉 He did show me a picture and it was definitely over 20 lbs. And who knows, with more people fishing for and feeding the carp around here, they might someday reach the sizes of those on other continents.
