@@MaggieGiamalvo I do. I remember the talk about the revealing outfit. It was mostly about the front part. Perhaps our lady Cher made waxing popular??? 😂😂😂
She was in her mid 40's in the video when she wore that outfit. Then, she wore it AGAIN in her mid 60's to present Video of the Year at the MTV Music Awards. I remember she looked exactly the same!! 😍 Good for HER!! 💪💥
Yeah, it's hard to be ready for the fact that she's pretty naked! LOL Cher never did have any problem with revealing costumes -- amazing body confidence. Poor Jay -- wasn't ready to have all that in his face to react to in front of us! LOL
Fun fact: the blond guitarist with the sunglasses (5:13 mark) is her son Elijah. His father is Greg Allman from the Allman Brothers. (check them out if you haven't already)
I thought that might be him! Good catch! Cher famous for her outfits! I've listened to her since she first started out with Sonny! Loved their TV show.
No one out divas Cher, but she has the goods to back it up. She is iconic, as are her songs. Her album, Believe, is one of my top three all time favorite albums. Got in my 52 year old daughter’s car last week and that was the album she was listening to! For your next Cher reaction, I suggest going back to her early music, Half Breed is one I recommend.
Those sailors weren't supposed to be on board. The brass damn near had a stroke when this came out, but the cow was gone, so it was too late to close the barn door.
31 years ago this was considered raunchy! This video is the reason that the United States Navy no longer allows music videos filmed on their ships. They were pissed! MTV banned this at first, then relented and would play it only after 10pm. I loved it! 🌎✌
Yup...nothing to see there but a half-nekkid Cher surrounded by gobs of happy seamen. Oh, and don't forget about all those large, long guns pointing to the sky! It was beyond Freudian...and I LOVED it!! :)
The Navy was already pissed ten years before after The Village People made the "In the Navy" video on a battle ship. One was too gay, this was too hetero, I guess.
Cher is the epitome of confidence! She was 43 when she did this video. I grew up with her as a powerful role model. She goes all the way back to the 60s starting with her first husband, Sonny Bono.
This was so controversial when it came out, but she was legit awesome and inspiring to us 80s teens and 70s kids who pushed the envelope of what's acceptable. Awesome reaction.
This song from Cher has definitely stood the test of time. She was 40 when she did this and it had all of the young guys drooling. Good on her; good on you, Jovaughn ♥️👌 Peace ✌️
Cher has always been "confident" check out some of her earlier work. Half Breed is one that comes to mind. Also really good, is Gypsy's, Tramps and Thieves.
People being in an outrage ☝🏾 I’ve never given a shit and never will Let’s go with people not giving a shit ☝🏾 😎😜 and supporting humans, art, expression, free will and speech, being ones authentic self 🤟🏾
Also beegees had hits in 60's70s,8'0's and I believe 90's. Barry put out an album two years ago that would be hit worthy, except music has drastically changed
Jayvee i saw her in concert in 2014 she is amazing no one wanted to leave and she wore that outfit to she looked beautiful and did her thing at 69 she knows how to put on a show
It is a real Navy ship and lots of fishnet. I went to one of her shows and she had 6 costume changes ON STAGE all as risqué as this outfit. What a show!
32 years ago....Cher has always dressed to get your attention. Her Oscar dresses were amazing! Even back in the 70s w/Sonny & Cher show (her first husband) her outfits were legendary. She was 43 here. I'm laughing at your reaction to her outfit as most men do w/smiling & practically giggling. Of course you like it. Lol.🤣
Oh you should know the story behind this one, lol. The Navy was having some celebrations and they wanted Cher to perform. What the bigwigs didn't know (as they didn't know Chet, was her daring costume and didn't know her. When they found out that there would be a video made , and by then had learned more about her, they tried to stop it, but it was too late. The reactions of the sailors is real. BTW, her son is the lead guitar in this video, by husband Altman.
She really came into her own on the Sonny and Cher variety show in the 70 s. She was always a fashion setter and her singing is very unique. Half Breed was a political statement to both white and Native people in how people of mixed heritage have been vilified and persecuted from both sides . She always had a fashion statement in all she did performing. Designer Originals. She also went into acting, Moon Stuck is hilarious! And others as well.
Check out her song The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss) next. It was from the movie Mermaids that she starred In with Bob Hoskins and Winona Ryder. She is a truly talented lady. Also check out her very early work with then husband Sony Bono (who later became a US Senator), especially I Got You Babe!!! I think you'll love both of these!!!
Cher's concerts are *events*. Multiple costume changes, elaborate sets and dance routines, retrospectives of her six-decade-and-counting career; she does it all. I've seen her twice, and I enjoyed both immensely. She always has an incredible opening act too. The first time I saw her, it was Cyndi Lauper. The second was Pat Benatar.
Cher's finest recording is the album titled Bittersweet White Light. Listen to the whole thing. None of the songs were hits for her as they are culled from the Great American Songbook. Songs, that over the past 90 years , have become standards. She does a spectacular job with them. In fact, I would describe that album as STELLAR!!
You wouldn't think that she a few years earlier had won an Oscar for (very convincingly) playing a frumpy and dowdy Italian American in the film Moonstruck...!
Oh Jayvee, if you only knew how controversial that outfit was at the time. She brought it for the sailors in war time. So freaking awesome! (For a good giggle, check out Sonny & Cher, from MY parents day.)
OMG I LOVE watching straight guys watch this for the first time. I'm laughing my ass off. She's hard not to look at, but I've seen this a million times, luckily, because I am SO enjoying watching you watch her! Imagine how all those sailor boys felt. Hopefully they got paid for being this video's extras with a nice long shore leave. 😂
This video was banned in the US originally (because of the US Navy) so you can imagine the shockwaves when she performed the track in this outfit at the MTV Awards!
For a totally different impression of Cher, you should check out her early years with Sonny Bono, when they were known as Sonny and Cher. Their biggest hits were And The Beat Goes On, I've Got You Babe, and Baby Don't Go.
Jayvee plz could you react to some Avril Lavigne. Some of her best songs I would highly recommend are: I'm With You My Happy Ending Complicated Skater Boy
Sonny & Cher bought me lunch 50 or so years ago, problem was I didn't know who they were, no stars came through our town so how was I supposed to know, my older sister had to tell me...
Cher is an absolutely amazing Woman, heck of a voice, great actress and absolutely beautiful. Is an inspiration to us all and still rockin' in her 70's
You should check out her song One by One. A lesser known song from the 90's but was still a pretty big hit. It really shows off a different side to her voice.
Firstly, my Caribbean cousin, may you and all whom you love have a very blessed, safely healthy, and enjoyable Christmas. As 2021 beckons, please listen to far more vocally gifted female singer/songwriter and fellow Caribbean, Joan Armatrading (Love & Affection).
The woman who wrote this song had a very difficult time trying to sell it to Cher. Cher turned it down over and over and finally recorded it very reluctantly on advice from her management. Cher was more surprised than anyone when it was a success.
Toldcha, (SHE GOT SOME OUTFITS), or.... lack there of, in that video. 😅 I LOVE CHER! Her voice is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! 👍👍👍👍👍 Pls check her out singing, "Walking In Memphis" & "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves". Official video on both are great! 👍
two songs from her live concert you might want to react to.."Take it Like a Man" or "Dressed to Kill" btw that 'ship' was the USS Missouri, the ship they signed the declaration of the end of WWII on board.
