RAKIM IS THEE GOAT. The sickest lyricist, a true MC. Elevated Hip Hop to the next level. He was kid killing it with intelligence and vocab beyond his peers.🔥🔥🔥 Legends
I start to think and then I sink into the paper like I was ink when writing trapped in between the lines I escape when I finish my rhyme, I GOT SoulL!!!
Hey Twins, the DJ is Eric B and of course, the MC is Rakim, they are from Long Island, NY. This duo definitely left their mark on hip-hop culture. They have classic hits, such as, paid in full, microphone fiend, and follow the leader. Rakim was like no other, lyrically and delivery when he came into the rap game. He is a living legend.
Have y’all listen to Big Daddy Kane yet?? Please check him out!!! The tracks you gotta listen to: 1. Ain’t No Half Steppin 2. Smooth Operator 3. Warm it up Kane 4. Set it off 5. I get the job done
You are a lifesaver. I was desperately trying to remember the name of that Big Daddy Kane joint. It's "I get the job done". He is so smooth and sexy. I hope they react to him too.
If you liked this song, you guys will definitely love their tracks, "Follow the Leader", "Juice (Know the Ledge)", "Microphone Fiend", "I Know You Got Soul", "Don't Sweat the Technique".
Google him he listed as one of the best lyristist in hip hop. Notice he never cursed in this song. Nas 50 cent Eminem said this was there favorite rapper
Dats my favorite rapper of all time and he only cursed one time on Mahogany, when he said you knw how far a kiss could go, fuc around and miss the show
Rakim is the reason your favourite rapper loves rap. It was ALL about what bars you could spit. Rakim is one of the best to ever do it. Don't Sweat The Technique and Let The Rhythm Hit' Em we’re probably their two biggest songs. Man, I miss the HipHop days.
As a metal head that apprrciates good music, Eric B and Rakim (and A Tribe Called Quest) got me into hip-hop back in the day. Undeniable how smooth and intelligent Rakim is.
Rakim is the best rapper PERIOD. Big Daddy Kane is a close second. Please review ‘Eric B is President’ by Eric B & Rakim. You’ll love the beat and rap flow
They are LEGENDS OF HIP HOP, HIP HOP ROYALTY. Their style & mc skills was ahead of their time, Rakim was the baddest lyricist out there. They are the GOATS bc they were 1 of the pioneers & other artists looked up to them too. I KNOW YOU GOT SOUL is their biggest and baddest banger. That joint kept everybody on the dance floor 4 sho. Finally fellas yasssssss👍
Up next: "I Need Love" by LL Cool J. This song was the first rap ballad!! It stayed at the top of the charts for weeks. You must listen to this one next!!!
Although a classic this song is so old their parents were kids. If you think back to when you were their age you weren’t listening to 35 year old music either. The fact that they’re educating themselves is what makes them special.
Listening to Eric B & Rakim's "My Melody" first would have given you some insight to some of the lyrics in this record. He references it a few times and you have gotten more bang out of the "7 emcees" line. Back in the day we went crazy over that line because of the release order of the records
Rap ROYALTY 👑! “Microphone Fiend”, “I Know You Got Soul”, so many more. NY Old School 🔥. Man we had it good 💎💎💎 Next Lesson: Public Enemy “Rebel Without A Pause” ; You will LOVE it!❤️
I'm glad yall enjoyed this song because this was my era, the golden age of hip-hop music. We used to be stylin with the sweat suits: Fila, ellesse, Puma, adidas, Sergio Tacchini, etc. no skinny jeans back then.
I can't believe this is your first time hearing THE GOD MC Rakim. He changed the way everybody rapped. He is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. He inspired everybody after him. When Nas first came out, he was considered "the second coming of Rakim."
Am I the only child born in the 70s who did the Wop and the Webo at house parties, school dances and clubs in the 90s who hates the Rob Bass song 'It takes 2'? When it came on, I would just walk off the dance floor. Why do people like that lame song and his mediocre raps and non-existent flow?
The G-d Emcee Rakim, one of the Goats, its a blessing to have been around when Hip Hop was like this, you can tell in the songs that it was about the ppl and the culture, not about money, jewels, women or drugs. Keep checking out OUR classic Hip Hop joints, your gonna Love them. ✌🏾 Peace to the G-Ds and Earths. Proper Education Always Cause Elevation (PEACE)
The God MC! Rakim is still your favorite rappers favorite rapper. Y’all should check out “Self Destruction” by Boogie Down Productions. Features a whole bunch of dope MC’s.
I just got the chills! That east coast hip-hop! Eric B. and Rakim are the truth. "Mircophone Fiend", "Follow The Leader," "Don't Seat The Technique," and so much more. Check out Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, 3rd Base, KRS ONE, The Guru, and I can go on and on.
Rakim’s rhymes were so unique and complex at the time that he was actually laughed at when he first spit a lot of these rhymes, and advised he should change his style to be more marketable…but he stuck with his guns and laid the blueprint for the Nas’, Jay-Z’s and Eminems that would come later.
Love this song from them. My absolute favorite is Microphone 🎤 Fiend. This is real, organic rap music. Notice how you can actually understand his lyrics clearly. Look at the crowd. No thots, no one disrespecting themselves or others. No guns. I'm sick of these zombies 🧟♂️ being paid to poison the influential minds of tomorrow.
gentlemen, this is what hip hop is about. flava flav from Public Enemy is the one dancing and getting crazy. this from 1986-1987, when hip hop was in its infancy. thank you the review and i many origional records that i can play for you. let me know if you want me to make a mix for you? thank you, kenny elster
Rakim's the MC, Erik B. the DJ. Easily top 5 MC's of all time. So glad to see this. Hope it revives the cut and the album. This whole album is a Classic, in any genre--one of a few hip hop joints still in rotation around the world.
Listen, I only saw Eric B & Rakim live in concert once. That was in 1987 at the Def Jam Concert. Everybody song Every Word to All of their songs!!! It was the best!!!
Ahhhh sssshhhhh u done messed up now!!! Rakim aka “the God MC”. Eric B “the President”. Now u just witnessed the GOAT…no one can touch Rakim lyrically, no one ever dared! He’s your favorite rapper favorite’s rapper. He put all nursery rhymes type hip hop to bed once he game out everybody had to step their game up!
If you listen to this again pay attention to how he gives you the titles to almost all of his songs in this one song! I'm a fan Ra is called the 18th letter he is fire on everything he does! Check out some of his other song .....he doesn't disappoint!

My favorite rapper of all time. He never swore or degraded woman. Just pure dope lyrics. Just love the sound of his voice. Eric B is the D.J.. listen to "Eric B for president."
The R and Eric B are living legends who set the lyrical standard for the art of spitin’ bars and everyone wants to know who their top 5 are dead or alive…ALWAYS!
