They are not sure about the cause but there is a familial relationship. There was a 2014 documentary I'll Be Me which gives more insight into the disease and the music tour that he went off after being diagnosed and is available on Amazon Prime. Glen Campbell Goodbye Tour started August 2011 and ended November 2012 and consisted of just under 150 shows in North America and Europe. His children played in the shows with him. By his last few concerts he was barely able to function and was only able to play based on what is referred to as muscle memory.
Thank you so much for reacting to this great tribute to a true legend. I grew up listening to his music. Glen Campbell was one of the most talented entertainer & guitarist in the world. This awful disease of Alzheimer's affects everyone from all walks of life. It robs people of their hopes & dignity. And it is even worse for the caregivers.
This song was a surprise!!!. Glen Campbell had so many hits that I grew to love, like Wichita linemen which was my favorite, Galveston, it's only make believe, Honey come back, Where is the playground Suzy. If my mom was around she would be listening to him. I grew up with this at home and I'm a NYC guy. Good music is just good music no matter where you're from. Great opinion you gave of Glen.
I wish i could post a picture of my Dad in his last days with this brutal disease. One look at that photo would say a thousand words about alzheimers/dementia.
My Gramma had Alzheimers Disease. It's a regression of memory in the brain where your brain signals start to fade away, including breathing. My Gramma couldn't remember the current President she remembered the President from 2 administration's prior, she couldn't answer half the questions the Dr asked and she chuckled through most of the appt. She was dx right away. Within many years she was gone. I will always cherish the time I had with her.

He was playing guitar and singing almost as good as ever almost until the end. Amazing how you can remember every note, chord change and lyric, but can’t remember basic facts.
