Halsey’s lyrics are poetry. It’s crazy to consider she was 17 when she wrote most of this album. And her voice sounds like no other!

Halsey wrote gasoline after the album was already submitted and they wouldn’t allow her to put it on the regular version

i love seeing new people reacting to halsey! i liked that you are came in with such an opened mind to their music. you should definitely listen to her music in the order of release dates cause you can see their growth over the years! halsey is an incredible lyricist and it’s only gotten better over the years! i’m definitely keeping an eye for more reaction to her music!

I love the dark tone this album has! There's a couple I love that I always hear in random playlists and forget are Halsey, I apparently need to listen to the whole album more frequently so I remember that!

This album still hits special parts of my soul overt all of her other works even though she only keeps getting better. Gasoline is easily my favorite of hers ever, possibly one of my top songs ever, so I love seeing you love it like I do. I'm sorry I didn't see you mention (or maybe you didn't notice) the Hurricane call out in Gasoline. Got a sub out of me!

I just discovered Halsey with her most recent album. Eventually worked my way through her whole discography and I'm obsessed! She is a genius artist who writes all her own songs. Definitely love Gasoline, Control, Colors, Castle, Haunting. You need to do a reaction video to her newest album "If I Can't Have Love I Want Power!" It was produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (of NIN) and it's a masterpiece! Very dark and immaculately produced (duh). She writes concept albums and IICHLIWP is about body horror / pregnancy (she wrote while she was pregnant with her first child). 😀

hey travis! idk if anyone’s said this yet but badlands is a concept album !! the name "badlands" is a reference to halsey's state of mind while writing the album. the name is meant to give a physical place as a metaphor for a desolate and lonely mind. the "badlands" are the outside of hotel room 93 (which is the name of their debut EP, which contains the songs “ghost”, “hurricane”, and 3 other songs that don’t appear on badlands (“is there somewhere” which is one of my all-time favorite halsey songs, “trouble” and “empty gold”; you should definitely give the EP a listen !! it’s really good :D) another fun fact: halsey was 17 when they wrote this entire album !! the album tells the story of a group in a post-apocalyptic world (i.e., the badlands) :)

Halsey has a poetry book Called “I would leave me if I could” and it’s great. Definitely dark and not for everyone but that’s how their music is. Their songs are poetry and She’s the only person to contribute to all of her lyrics, many of them come from poetry she writes. She’s also an artist and paints while performing on SNL and last year when I saw her live in concert she sang while painting on stage each night on tour and then auctioned them off afterwards and gave the money to charity for National abortion funds. During the song Nightmare (a woman’s rights Song) they had abortion stats on the screen at each show on tour too. So powerful.

The thing about halsey is she's known for her live performances and amazing lyricism. She won a few writing awards and has a poetry book out.

“It’s dark why am I smiling” yesss that’s Halsey’s discography for you lol! The song “The Lighthouse” from the most recent album “if I can’t have love, I want power” is super dark but you just smile bc it’s so badass. She uses Sirens as a metaphor. Sirens like the myth of women who lure sailors to their death lol so wild but so badass 😂

After putting this album out and touring it for a long time halsey said she realized she didn’t make much music that people could dance to lol so the next albums incorporate more poppy sounds but still the same Halsey. She chooses her words so carefully. Every word has its purpose, nothing is said just because it sounds good, it always has a meaning and I love that.

You should definitely do the whole catalog. Don't forget to double back to the EP before you go on to HFK. Btw, the videos you watched were from the 'Room 93' EP, which is why they didn't quite fit this album.

Gasoline is a fan fav and when performing it live Halsey will shout “DO YOU CALL YOURSELF A-“ and let the crowd scream “FUCKING HURRICANE LIKE ME” and she repeats it over and over and it’s so fun.

Ghost was Halseys first song she wrote. And she’s bisexual she’s not hooking up with herself haha ❤there were two different music videos and she was like dad please don’t watch this one 😂 and she wasn’t famous yet so the videos didn’t have funding. None of these were radio hits because she was new

Colors is about her ex Matty Healy from the 1975. She ok’d it with him first so that she wouldn’t get sued she said lol!
