You've pretty much got it right. You're looking at The Oak Ridge Boys and the passing of the torch to the next generation Oak Ridge Boys: Home Free. The Oak Ridge Boys had a massive hit with this song way back in the day and were legendary country singers. The 70's I think. I'm terrible with dates and someone else can let you know exactly when. Legends and legends in the making. I love the level of respect Home Free affords their featured artists. The level of respect between Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys is so wonderful. The ORB's haven't missed a step and our guys sound so good with them. Adam's beat boxing/vocal percussion in this is fabulous. It adds an extra dimension that elevates even this great song. It's more complex and richer sounding. So much fun to listen to. I always enjoyed the original, but this is even better. I always enjoy your great reactions. Thanks.

I am so glad you reacted to this collaboration between Home Free & The Oakridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.

Oak Ridge Boys sang "Elvira" originally in 1981. I love both versions. In December you should review "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" by Home Free, Oak Ridge Boys, & Jeffrey East. Best version I've ever heard of a song I heard as a child.

I love how you reacted to this fantastic mash up between The Oakridge Boys and Home Free. You definitely should check out the Oakridge Boys and the similarity that you noticed is actually in the number of people and the parts they sing. TOB didn't sing a Capella as Home Free does, but you will still love them just the same. Great guys all of them. Home Free has been so blessed to work with some absolutely amazing talent as TOB, Kenny Rogers (before he passed away), Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA), Don McLean (American Pie) as well as Avi Kaplan and Peter Hollens to name only a few. There is still so much more you are missing from Home Free. I hope you start doing them more regularly again :)

Thank you for reacting to this rendition with the original artist. Home Free has endeared themselves to many original artists with great respect from both sides. They simply are humble and enjoy honoring those artists and feeling ends up being mutual. And we the listeners are the benefactors of great vocal music. Oh yeah, what great music that is candy to our ears.........✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

I love when Richard does that last oom papa mahw mahw and every turns to Tim like 'Go for it' and when he hits that loooow mahw mahw Dwayne (from the OR Boys) pretends to fall off his chair into Adam's lap. LOL And I love the respect they showed the OR Boys by getting autographs and selfies and advice instead of acting like snotty up and comers who are replacing them. They always seem to show love and respect to those they collab with, which is always wonderful to see. Great Reaction and you'll love the OR Boys. They were so much fun to watch back in the day.

To hear this love is absolutely unreal!!! Saw Home Free in Alberta, Canada in May, and they definitely did not disappoint!!! Sounded better love than they do in their videos!!! I kid you not, I could feel the vibrations from Tim's bass for a good hour after the concert ended! If you ever get a chance to see them in concert, RUN, don't walk to the ticket counter!!!!

Thank you for another great one! Oak Ridge Boys is definitely a rabbit hole worth exploring. Any song you choose by them will be well worth a listen. The Statler Brothers s another group from that era of Country music that Home Free has paid homage to by coving their Counting Flowers on the Wall which they did after the Statler Brothers bass vocalist Harold Reid passed.

Definitely older generation versus younger generation! Geoff Castelucci of Voice play helped with this arrangement! I love the collaboration with the two groups. the Oaks had a huge hit with Elvira back in the 1980s. The Oaks are mentors to Home Free!i. In December 2020 21 Home Free collaborated with the oOaks and Jeffrey East singing “oh beautiful star of Bethlehem”. on stage!! Listen to the oaks seeing Bobby Sue!! HF is very Respectful to all the groups they have collaborated with such as Kenny Rogers, Don Mclean, Charlie Daniels, and many others. Great reaction!!

The Oak Ridge Boys are a group that has been performing for a long time. They got their start and their name by providing entertainment in Oak Ridge TN during the nuclear research. There have been many members come and go but the current group has had the most popularity and were biggest in the 70s and 80s. Some great songs by them are: "Everyday" "Bobby Sue" (a fun song with a similar bass line to this one) "I'll be true to you" "Beautiful You" "A Little More Like Me" I'm going to stop now but this list of great songs could be much longer. I hope you get a chance to react to some more of them and of course Home Free.

Good Reaction! ORB was my first live concert in the late 70s. Seen them twice after that. Statler Brothers and ORB were my favorite bands in my youth and early adult years. Loved the bass singing of Harold Reid (SB) and Richard Sterben (ORB). Both groups are legends and worth diving into their rabbit holes. Recommend the songs from The Best of The Statler Brothers album. And HF sang Flowers On The Wall as a tribute to the late Harold Reid, one of their first Covid Lockdown videos.

I live in the country, about 20 mins from the town in Alabama where Billy Golden grew up and made his home, his whole life. Billy is the old guy with the big white beard, in this video! As you can imagine, there is a big sign in our town as you're driving in: "HOME OF BILLY GOLDEN AND THE OAK RIDGE BOYS" It's a small country town, and there are LOTS of funny stories about Billy and his family! Oak Ridge boys...great music, I got to see them in CHICAGO years ago, and of course, we are very proud of the boys, here in our hometown! (We grow cotton and peanuts and outstanding country artists around here!!)

I love the way Home Free does a cover of a very old song and has the original artist come in and sing it with them. Of course, in this song they have the Oaks joining them because Elvira was a HUGE hit by the Oak Ridge Boys in 1981. HF also did "American Pie" and they had Don McLean sing it with them and McLean is the one who had the original in 1971. The respect they have for the original artist is awesome and of course the original artists are delighted to do one of their classic hits with a fresh new sound by a fresh new group.

T-Fam - you hit the nail on the head with your reaction!!! What makes Home Free boys so special is they don't forget those groups and individuals who paved the way for them and they love collaborating with them and also they lend themselves to the "up and coming' groups and individuals as well - so they see both sides of the spectrum.... They're just plain, decent human beings happy to help others and not forgetting those who paved the way for them.... I've always loved your take on these guys and look forward to many, many more of your reactions to Home Free. Best wishes to you and your family from "across the pond". RichieC (Atlanta, Ga)
