Richard Sterban, the bass for the Oaks, is an incredible bass singer. He used to sing back-up for Elvis before he joined the Oak Ridge Boys. I enjoyed the reaction. I hope to see more Home Free reactions.
@Jack.. If you watch more of Home Free, you will see that Tim Foust, the group's bass has an amazing 5 octave range and can give Richard Sterban a real run for who can go lowest ! :)
I’m a huge Home Free fan, I’ve seen them 5 times in concert, including once front rower center, so believe me when I say I know how low and high Tim can sing. I just pointing out that Richard is an amazing bass himself. However, I do think his lowest notes are a little lower and definitely stronger than Tim’s, at least for now. Tim, however, can go much higher than Richard.
The Oaks have been around since the 70's. Tim from Home Free sang that last low note which it surprised because at one time the ORB's bass Richard Sturban was one of the 3 lowest basses in the USA.
Home Free is a "Country" Acapella group. But yet so much more. You really need to explore more of their music. You won't be disappointed. 💕💕 The Oak Ridge Boys are the Original singers of this song and invited Home Free to do this with them. Tim Foust, the deep bass had a 5 octave vocal range and working on more.
Yes, the song was originally made famous by the Oakridge Boys... the lovely thing about this video is that Home Free is a country acapella group and their voices pretty much correspond with the members of the elder group. When you hear Home Free do songs, their voices are so rich and their beat boxer is so amazing that it is easy to forget, they use no instrumentals at all. And Tim Foust is Home Free's bass voice, and he can go much lower than he did in this song!! Home Free gives a country flavor to their a capella and yet can bridge beautifully into other genres. Please react to more of their songs and their fan base (The Home Fries) will come :) For a fun song, try " Country Fried Pop Medley" and to hear more of the country bass try Home Free's version of "Ring of Fire"
Home Free is amazing! The guys are so talented, all sing and all contribute sounds in different songs to make their music sound so full. Pick any video - there area lots - they are all wonderful. More Home Free please!
😍Thanks Love this Home Free was the younger Guys and Tim’s Bass is unbelievable and he has a 5+octave range! The Oaks are the guys who set the stage for the next generation like Home Free. Great collaboration ever!😉😍✌🏻❤️. Please react to More Home Free!
I am so glad you are reacting to Home Free! They are very talented and entertaining artists, draw you in to their performances and have the greatest sense of humor. I hope you enjoy their style of talent (of course The Oak Ridge Boys). Tim Foust is the bass singer of Home Free and has a 5 octave range that is amazing. You should hear his high notes. And the beatboxer is a freak of nature, lol. D'day y'all.
Thanks for saying that. I find it sad when people tend to belittle covers of this song by saying that 'the original by the ORB' is the best when it's actually a cover as well. If a cover is done well, it can be just as good as the original, or even become more famous than the original.
The ORB are country music royalty, and this is their song!! They reached out to Home Free and said they could do a cover/collab of their song for Home Free's album!!
The Oak Ridge Boys almost dominated country music from the late 70's thru the 80's, maybe into the 90's (I wasn't following country at that time). Elvira is their most recognized hit. Home Free was their younger counterparts in this song, which the HF guys considered a big honor. They were able to take the stage with the Oaks at the Grand Ole Opry. Home Free has great music from many genres, usually with a country flavor. They are very talented. Ring Of Fire will show you Tim's low range.
Home Free is my favorite group as well. They are A Capella! If you want to hear them do covers of songs you probably know, try, "Castle on the Hill", "Wake Me Up", "Story of My Life", or "In the Blood". They have a bunch of great Originals also! All their music is superbly done. Great Harmonies!
"Don't know who the Oak Ridge Boys are"?? Thanks, now I feel old.... :) Them and the Statler Brothers are my favorite old-fashioned barbershop quartets. Home Free & Pentatonix are my current favorites and could technically be considered barbershop, except they added a beatbox. :) But great reaction videos! Been going through your library of Home Free & Pentatonix. Love all their stuff! BTW, "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark" was a "thing" back in the 80's - she was a TV horror show hostess who played a lot of old-style horror movies, and her *ahem* "low cut dress", ample cleavage and black dress quickly went "viral" across the nation (Remember, this is pre-internet, so mostly from newspapers & magazines). They even made a couple of movies. At any rate, the Oak Ridge Boys song is NOT about that Elvira, as that song was written in 1966 about a street in Nashville, and has been covered by Kenny Rogers (1970) and Rodney Crowell in 1978. Oak Ridge Boys covered it in 1980, and was by far the most successful cover. Just a bit of history. :)
there are so many songs to recommend. How great thou art, In the blood, The butts remix, Helplessly hoping, My Church the list goes on and on and every song they sing is awesome! You will get a huge following because of their loyal fans.
Awesome reaction, enjoy Home Free many videos. Would like to see your reactions to: Helplessly hoping; blue ain’t your color; what we ain’t got; the butts remix for sure; Alabama sampler to name a few.
Tim Foust and Richard Sterban. Bass singing doesn't get any better. Either could dominate, but instead they blend into some of the best harmony you'll hear.
Lol if you thought Tim went low in that video check out Tim fousts vocal range on you tube... he accually covers over 5 octaves with his voice :) love the reaction check out ring of fire to see a sample of how low Tim can go :) or misty mountains with Peter Hollens. Will subscribe and watch for more :)
Yes, The Oak Ridge Boys are the original artist that recorded & put out “Elvira back in the 80’s. This is probably the first time I have actually liked a remake of a song as well as the original since Whitney Houston remade “I will always love you “ by Dolly Parton. Good day to you!!!!
@@pamelascott5702: I always do that, too. :) I find it so interesting to hear different versions of the same song, especially when the different versions are in different genres, or are significantly different. I love it when the artist gives their version their own touch and spin.
Monika S. Call me crazy but I like all three versions of Elvira. I was born in 1969. Seems like my mama would have told me about the original bc I was so crazy about the Oak Ridge Boys version. I have my granddaughter listening to it & she is jamming out. Dallas Frazier definitely wrote a blockbuster hit as far as I am concerned.
Great reaction! I liked it so much that, I just subscribed with the hope that you'll do more Home Free video's in the future. I would love to see you check out Home Free's version of 'In The Blood", but if you don't think you'd be interested in that one, there are many others to choose from. Thank you, Again.
Check out WOTE or walk off the Earth. Do Hello maybe first. Or five people playing one guitar. They use alternative instruments and just kill it!! Nice job on Elvira. The Oakridge Boys started out as Gospel and quickly went country. The did have a band to back them up.
I hate to bother you again, but I listened to other reaction video's and you are far the best and you appreciate much more 0that they do. You are also not belligerent. One more group I love and I think you would like them. They are "Anthems Lights" and tried "The Blood Medley " and the :"Frozen 1 mashup".
Oak Ridge Boys were primarily a gospel group from the 40s to the 70s when they switched over to a more country sound and became quite popular into the 80s. Seeing as you're somewhat younger and not from the US, I think it's entirely reasonable that you haven't heard of them.
Really glad you enjoyed this one. Elvira has been a favorite of mine for a long time (beginning with the original Dallas Frazier version that he wrote and published in 1966: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nINymn9MGCI.html). When the Oaks published it in 1981, I loved it even more. Now that they did the collab with Home Free, it's even better! Such fun! Thanks for a great reaction. :-)
If you want a laugh, check out their Butts Remix. If you like LOTR and the Hobbit, check out Tim (the young Bass) in Misty Mountains by Tim Hollens ft. Tim Foust.
look into the video for Ring of Fire by Home Free onff of the show the sing off. They are really good. Tim Foust gets really, really low in that song. Originally done by Johnny Cash but written by his wife, June Carter Cash.
Now that you're also a PTX fan, you may be entertained to know they covered Elvira (at least a few bars of it) when they presented an award to the Oak Ridge Boys at the CMA awards. Probably not long enough for a reaction, but you may enjoy it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cSNmn-lhPuM.html
@@michaelgolliher888: Of course it matters. If you wrote a song, I don't think you would enjoy people claiming that a cover of your song is actually the original version, no matter how great or popular the cover might be. EDIT: Perhaps I should rephrase. It matters *to me* because I'm an artist, and as such, I like giving credit where credit is due. That doesn't mean that I think the ORB's version isn't great. I actually liked all 3 versions that I've heard, especially since they're all different, and both cover artists gave the song their own spin, too.
I also thought (obviously mistaken) that The ORB's version was their original. Anyway, after listening to this latest version, I went back to ORB's version. I prefer ORB's version. Still do.
