Love watching your face when you get into the performance. I was lucky enough to see Frampton with this exact band. A true talent.

I saw him about 10 years ago and was amazing. He doesn't have the long blond hair now. He even joked about it. You can tell he is just a very kind and humble human being. That's a "talk box" he's using in the middle of the song. He's basically playing the guitar and shaping the sounds with his mouth, like he's talking through his guitar.

Oh the lead in is so revealing of what song is being played. I'm 72 and it takes me back in time to a much better place. As everyone here knows this is from 1973. What a joy to take me back.

Frampton was big. It was a guarantee that any show of his would be sold out, from his debut, all the way through the 2000s. He grew a very big, and very faithful following. His music was definitely a vibe.

And yes, he's sending the sound of the guitar into his mouth. And using it to talk. He's said that he would do that for hours at a time to learn how to do it better and because it's fukking cool 😎

Frampton is using a talkbox to make the talking guitar effect 😊 A talk box (also spelled talkbox and talk-box) is an effects unit that allows musicians to modify the sound of a musical instrument by shaping the frequency content of the sound and to apply speech sounds (in the same way as singing) onto the sounds of the instrument. Typically, a talk box directs sound from the instrument into the musician's mouth by means of a plastic tube adjacent to a vocal microphone. The musician controls the modification of the instrument's sound by changing the shape of the mouth, "vocalizing" the instrument's output into a microphone.

It is impossible to over state how white hot Peter Frampton was in 1976 and 1977. He ruled the rock world and his double LP live album Frampton Comes Alive (release in Jan of 1976) right now sits as the 4th highest selling Live album of all time. Mo, do you remember the Live version of Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd that you reacted to? ( at the Oakland Coliseum-a concert I attended🤟) The headliner that day was Peter Frampton. Peter's popularity was still running high a full 18 months after his Live album ruled the Billboard charts for what seemed like forever. the live album.. sold millions in the mid 70's..

In my humble opinion, this is most organically creative rock song ever written. I think live album version came together a little better, but it will be played 100 years from now with all the greats.

I am old enough to remember Peter Frampton in the Herd and then Humble Pie in the 60s before he left to go solo. He was a great musician - still is - and a very lovely person as well.

That thing is called a Talk Box. It basically sends the sound waves from the guitar to his mouth through a plastic tube, and then he can alter the sound with the shape of his mouth, giving it that "talking" sound.

Frampton is ace, he used to be in the blues group Humble Pie and they did some classic tracks. Always love your reaction vids, please never stop.

I don't know which I like better - watching faces when they can see what he's doing, or when they use the album version and can't see what's happening. Either way, it's always priceless.

Great great reaction! Love seeing people hear this for the first time. 'Frampton Comes Alive' was the biggest selling live album of all time for quite a while and this closer certainly helped. I was in high school when it came out and there were at least four hits from it constantly on the air waves.

I could see the look of astonishment on your pretty face when he started using the vocoda. In simple terms this is how it works. There's a box on the floor at the bottom of the mic stand. in that box is a small speaker. When a foot switch is pressed it diverts the sound of the guitar to that speaker. The sound then travels up a plastic hose attached to the mic stand and into the mouth where it can be shaped and change by the guitarist. That sound is picked up by the vocal mic and amplified in the usual way. A simple device, but it takes someone to think of the idea in the first place. Great reaction sweetheart. ✌️❤️🇬🇧

For 1970s music, the Midnight Special was the pinnacle. If you were a band and playing on the MS, you have made it. EVERY EPISODE was fire! I went on a road trip to Colorado with my teenage son and my late mother. We saw Peter Frampton at the best natural amphitheater on planet earth, Red Rocks. As a bonus, Jason Bonham opened (son of John Bonham, Led Zeps legendary drummer. It poured down rain for about 30 minutes and we hid in the red rocks. Then we came out to watch a magical show with the storm and lightning and the Denver skyline in the distance. Loved your reaction (mine was the same seeing him live). Spent a lot of extra "10 minutes" driving the streets of Iowa City when this came on. Sometimes that 10 minutes turned into 30, or 40.

An anthem from my generation. What is so great is that it was a live performance, seen by millions of people on their TV's. A 'head banger' song!

Peter Frampton made good music. He extended the time on his songs with his riffs and the use of that mouth piece. He was a cool dude and sang great bluesy type music. He's a legend.

But I think you reacted to Joe Walsh before (Rocky Mountain Way?) and he used it in that song. Peter made it famous on his 1975 triple-platinum double-live album Frampton Comes Alive, which has a longer version of this track. Peter was one of the best rock guitarists around because he learned by listening not only to blues and rock n roll but to jazz players - especially Wes Montgomery. His scales and phrasing are a little unusual in the rock world. He's made some terrific albums even into the 2000's, 2010's and in 2021 or 22.

"Frampton Comes Alive" is one of the best double albums to ever come out. The version of this song on that album is tremendous. Also I think you should listen to Ted Nugents "Hibernation" from his Double Live Gonzo" , there's a bit of colorful language in the beginning, but the song is well worth it. And your hair is beautiful again today.

I was at the April 1 2024 show in Minneapolis, I cried a LOT.

I've seen Peter Frampton play at least 3 times when he was performing with "Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band. It was fun because they play not just Ringo's songs but the songs of his guest players. Peter was bald by that time but he still played the guitar just as well.

Great Reaction to a great South East London musician who was born and raised near me. His Dad taught Peter AND David Bowie at the local Art College they both attended:)

I was a kid and saw many shows at Winterland of which Frampton's was included on the live album. Frampton was a huge star then. When he said, "I wanna F... you" through the voice box people went wild. That was considered super edgy and probably wouldn't have flow if he had said it without the effect.

He really played up to the camera when he had hair. When I saw him in the late 80's he had lost most of his hair but none of his talent. He was excellent! More humble. Humble Pie, haha! That was the band that he was in before going solo. Joe Walsh was the first to use talk box in Rocky Mountain Way. You might like that one too

I use to deliver pizzas at Pizza Hut in Nashville TN 20 yrs ago and i delivered pizzas to Peter Framtons house off Concord Rd in Brentwood. Never got to meet him cuz he was always on tour. His family is awesome. The front area of his house had a big marble Framton with a big white piano and his 6yr old daughter would hop up and start playing it when i brought the pizzas. Funny. Family was cool
