Exactly. Some bands put out albums that are easy to like, but you feel you know everything about them after three listens. But an album like Kid A or Amnesiac keeps its mystery. It's difficult but intriguing at first... and it brings you back again and again and makes you feel like you love it but you'll never understand all of it.

Radiohead is amazing! 5 gifted musicians, songwriters, innovators, pioneers that changed the music business and put their stamp on music from the mid-90s on. They are a band that is hard-to-like, changing styles and instrumental attack at every turn of a whim. But, when you get it, they are outstanding!

One of the few songs that I know exactly where I was the first time I heard it. Seventeen years old, working cleaning classrooms of my local elementary school in the evening, and had the radio tuned to the alternative station (Live 105 in SF), and they played "Creep" for the first time. I literally stopped what I was doing and just stood there, feeling every feel. I'm a lot older now, but this song reminds me of the awkward seventeen-year-old boy I used to be every time.

Radiohead sort of exploited the same gap in the market as Nirvana did - the anger or the vulnerability or the terrible need to conform that gets foisted upon us. Some of it gets quite dark, some of it is sarcastic, some of it reminds me of the sort of 'music as therapy' period John Lennon went through in the early 1970s.

This is kind of early days for the band, chart-wise. They went on to transcend a lot of the labels that would follow UK acts around over the next decade. What gets me about this is that it precisely describes my feeling about my other half. She's an African Queen and I look like some strange middle-aged nerd.

Thom Yorke the singer wrote the song about a girl at college he fell in love with but he never approached her or told her how he felt. The lyrics of the song tell you why. So heartfelt. That's why no one can better this original version from the writer. The pain he felt is all there in this performance.

Thom wrote this song about a beautiful girl he fell in love with in college. He was picked on & bullied in school and had anxiety because of it. He had to get drunk to approach her and when he did she rejected him. He said he felt like a creep & weirdo so… Creep was written way before Radiohead got together. Johnny Greenwood put the transition in but it was an American record reproducer who suggested he make it louder & more powerful and he did!!! It was way more popular here than in the UK… Johnny is a musical genius, always loved this song for the raw emotion it brings out in all of us❤️ it remains on my playlist to this day!!

I'm glad you did the uncensored version. It's a raw emotion song that hits home with anyone that's felt that way about someone and the softer word, "very," doesn't rip your guts out like the F word does. And that f'n guitar! I, like you, love Haley and PMJ version but it's meant more as a stylistic showcase of her voice and the creativity of the band putting modern songs to early music styles. Nothing wrong with that, very entertaining and interesting but the original is more visceral and even chilling because of the desperation and pain in his voice makes you wonder what in the hell is gonna do?

I've heard that greatest rock 'n roll song rated no. 1 is Stairway To Heaven. This song right here is got to be the greatest rock 'n roll anthem ever recorded, hands down!

Years ago one of my brothers who is bipolar was od’ing and he played this song and just held me and sobbed. Thankfully he’s okay now but it was a long hard road. I always remember that time listening to this song. He was getting a divorce from his first wife and he was in a really bad place. ❤️🇺🇸

this song was written by the bass player after he had an interaction with a lady that follows the band around on tour .. he watched her from afar and thought she was clearly out of his league so he sat down and wrote the song .. and it turned out to be one of their greatest hits

This is a song seemingly written and performed for all those, like me, who have stood around in pubs and clubs - during what our elders never ceased to remind us was "the best years of our lives" and yet wondering just what exactly it was, we were clearly “lacking” (and why wasn't everybody else there lacking it, too). The genius and irony of this composition is in pointing out that we ALL are unsure of our standing and such remains a constant, throughout or lives (even the tricksters who so convincingly make us believe they aren’t “lacking” at all . The girl he wrote the song about (who did actually exist) may well have lacked confidence, herself. Maybe even bounced through her life from one abusive relationship, where she was made to feel “inferior”, to another and feeling unworthy of a better place because she “don’t belong there”.

Love your choices. Have to say Radiohead have progressed so much since this song came out, from their debut album. I mean, they’ve been through so many different styles. It’s hard to know what to suggest. Maybe a journey through their albums in order. Like one track from each. I would recommend Street Spirit (Fade Out) from their second album, The Bends. I think you’ll feel it.
