An extra dope high life reaction 🙆‍♂🙆! In this song, he is confident that things are going to turn around - he will soon be back in the high life again. He's not touring but he did perform live at Coronation Concert 2023 in the Bahamas. I see 👁👁 that you have reacted to Steve Winwood before: Higher Love. Back In The High Life Again was released as the fifth single from Steve Winwood's 1986 album: Back In The High Life. It was written by Steve Winwood and Will Jennings. It was produced by Russ Titelman. The song reached #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, #13 on the Hot 100 and #19 on the Mainstream Rock chart. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1988 but lost to Paul Simon's song: "Graceland Lyrics". The music video was directed by Roger Lunn. To be "back in the high life" is to be back on top. It was also nominated for Best Male Video at the 1988 MTV Video Music Awards. Will Jennings told Songfacts how the song: "Back In The High Life Again", came together. "We wrote those songs in the fall of '84, and it was a long spell before he got in the studio in New York", he said. "We had 'Higher Love' and several other songs, including: 'The Finer Things'. And then it was toward the end of my stay over there and we still needed some other songs. I had 'Back In The High Life Again' in this book that I carry with me of titles. I pulled that out and I suddenly found the rest of the song, and I wrote that in about 30 minutes, and left it with Steve to put a melody to. So this is in '84. And then I went back to California, and it was a year, I guess, before he went in the studio, sometime in '85. I called one day and talked to Russ Titelman who was producing the album. They were doing it in New York. I asked him how it was going, and he said: 'Oh it's going great'. He said: 'Higher Love' came out great and 'The Finer Things'. I asked him how 'Back In The High Life' would come out. There was this little pause, and he said: 'Steve hasn't shown me that song'. So turns out that Steve had not written the music to it yet, and he at that time was going through a divorce. And because of the divorce, his wife got everything in the house, this big house in England. So he came up from London and went out to this house, which he still lives in and he had for years before he was married, and everything was gone, except there was a mandolin over in the corner of the living room. It was winter and it was dreary. He went over and picked up the mandolin, and he already had the words in his head, and that's when he wrote the melody. He went back and not only cut a big hit which still is played so much today, but it was the title track of the album. And if I hadn't asked about it, it would have just gone by, so that's one that was saved at the last minute". Song Credits 📝: Steve Winwood - lead vocals, synth piano, synthesizer, drum machine programming, mandolin, Moog bass Jimmy Bralower - additional drum machine programming[4] Rob Mounsey - additional synthesizer John Robinson - drums James Taylor - harmony vocals Steve Winwood Info 📰: Stephen Lawrence Winwood was born on May 12, 1948 in Handsworth, Birmingham, England. He is a musician, singer and songwriter whose musical genres include Blue-Eyed soul, R&B, Blues Rock and Pop Rock. Though primarily a guitarist, keyboard player and vocalist prominent for his distinctive, Soulful high tenor voice, Steve Winwood plays other instruments proficiently, including drums, mandolin, bass and saxophone. Steve Winwood modeled his singing after Ray Charles. Steve Winwood has done session work many artists including: Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Joe Cocker, Howlin' Wolf, Lou Reed, Billy Joel, George Harrison, Toots & The Maytals, David Gilmour, Marianne Faithfull, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Eddie Harris, Jimmy Buffet and many more. Steve Winwood was an integral member of three groups of the 1960s and 1970s: The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith. Beginning in the 1980s, his solo career flourished and he had a number of hit singles, including: "While You See A Chance" (1980) and "Valerie" (1982). His 1986 album: Back In The High Life, marked his career zenith, with hit singles including: "Back In The High Life Again", "The Finer Things" and "Higher Love". He also released the successful hit singles: "Roll With It" (1988) and "Holding On" (1988). While his hit singles ceased at the end of the 1980s, he continued to release new albums up to 2008, when he latest album: Nine Lives, was released. At four years of age, Steve Winwood began playing the piano while interested in Swing and Dixieland Jazz music, and soon after started playing drums and guitar. At eight years of age, he first performed with his father and elder brother Muff in the Ron Atkinson Band. He was also a choirboy at "St John's Church Of England Perry Barr". The family moved from to Kingstanding Birmingham, where Steve Winwood attended the Great Barr School, one of the first comprehensive schools. While still a pupil at the Great Barr School, he was a part of the Birmingham Blues Rock scene, playing the Hammond C-3 organ and guitar, backing Blues and Rock legends including: Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley on their United Kingdom tours, as the custom at that time being for US singers to travel solo and be backed by local pick-up bands. Steve Winwood also attended the Birmingham And Midland Institute Of Music in order to develop his skills as a pianist, but did not complete his course. During this time, he befriended future Fleetwood Mac band member Christine McVie. At age 14, he joined The Spencer Davis Group. He would release three albums with The Spencer Davis group between 1965 and 1966. Steve Winwood's distinctive high tenor singing voice and vocal style drew comparisons to Ray Charles. Steve Winwood joined forces with guitarist Eric Clapton as part of the one-off group Eric Clapton And The Powerhouse. Several songs were recorded for the Elektra Records records label, but only three of their songs made the 1966 compilation album: What's Shakin'. Steve Winwood met drummer Jim Capaldi, guitarist Dave Mason, and multi-instrumentalist Chris Wood when they jammed together at The Elbow Room, a club in Aston, Birmingham. After he left The Spencer Davis Group in April 1967, the quartet formed the band Traffic. He would release six albums between 1967 and 1974 with Traffic. In 1969, Steve Winwood formed the supergroup: Blind Faith, with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech. They released one album in 1969 and toured for the album. The band was short-lived, owing to Eric Clapton's greater interest in Blind Faith's opening act Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. Eric Clapton left the band at the tour's end. Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood, and Ric Grech stayed together to form the group: Ginger Baker's Air Force. The line-up consisted of 3/4 of Blind Faith without Eric Clapton, who was replaced by Denny Laine, half of Traffic in Steve Winwood and Chris Wood, plus musicians who interacted with Ginger Baker in his early days, including Phil Seamen, Harold McNair, John Blood and Graham Bond. The Ginger Baker's Air Force group project also turned out to be short-lived as they released only one album in 1970. Steve Winwood soon went into the studio to begin work on a new solo album, tentatively titled: Mad Shadows. However, Steve Winwood ended up calling in Chris Wood and Jim Capaldi to help with his session work, which prompted Traffic's comeback album: John Barleycorn Must Die, in 1970. In 1972, Steve Winwood recorded the part of Captain Walker in the highly successful orchestral version of The Who's album: Tommy. He recorded a 1973 album with Remi Kabaka and Abdul Lasisi Amao, as Third World, Aiye-Keta. Later, after the reggae group: Third World, had formed, the album was re-released and identified as being just by the band members' names. In 1976, Steve Winwood provided vocals and keyboards on the album: Go, a concept album by Japanese composer Stomu Yamashta. A live concert version of the album was also released. In 1977, Steve Winwood would begin a successful solo career by releasing the album: Steve Winwood, with Islands Records. He would go on to released eight more solo albums between 1980 and 2008 on both Island Records, Virgin Records and Columbia Records. In 1994, Jim Capaldi and Steve Winwood reunited the band Traffic for a new album: Far From Home, and a tour, including a performance at Woodstock '94 Festival. That same year, Steve Winwood appeared on the CD: A Tribute To Curtis Mayfield, recording Curtis Mayfield's song: "It's All Right". In 1998, Steve Winwood appeared in the film: Blues Brothers 2000, as a member of the Louisiana Gator Boys, appearing on stage with Isaac Hayes, Eric Clapton and KoKo Taylor at the battle of the bands competition movie scene. On February 19 2008, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton released a collaborative EP through iTunes titled: Dirty City. They also released a CD and DVD of their Madison Square Garden live shows and then toured together in the summer of 2009. On March 28 2012, Steve Winwood was one of Roger Daltrey's special guest stars for "An Evening With Roger Daltrey And Friends", in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall. In 2013, Steve Winwood toured North America with Rod Stewart as part of the "Live The Life" tour. In 2014, he toured North America with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. In January 2020, a North American summer tour was announced with Steely Dan. *****CONTINUE BELOW*****
