My brother is 12 years older than me and played their songs all the time when I was 5 or 6. I was too young to appreciate them but whenever I hear them it just takes me back to that age like no other band can.

I’m a huge Cure fan. You have to see one of their videos. Robert Smith is the king of English goth. I had just started dating my husband & took him to a Cure concert in Minneapolis 1992. We still joke that he must have really like me because he’s more of a hair band guy 🎟💕Lovesong, Lullaby, Pictures of You, Boys Don’t Cry, Friday I’m in Love, Why Can’t I Be You, Close to Me, so many good songs. 💕

Yes!! Not just the chart toppers!! Seeing them in concert was a transcendental experience. It couldn’t be put into words. The older people behind me though clearly didn’t appreciate their music aside from a few of those more popular radio songs. They sat in their sits making fun of Robert Smiths weight. The. Entire. Concert. I just tried to stay lost in the fact that for a few hours I shared a space and moment with such a genius band.

Robert Smith, when he's in top form, can layer fifteen different hooks on top of each other and make them all play together. The Cure is also one of those '80s college bands like XTC that are defined by their arty songwriting, but their secret weapon is an ultra-tight rhythm section.

This is my favorite of their songs. It reminds me of when I was 17 and had gotten to a point where I was almost clear of the bad stuff and had some hope. I know that still sounds bleak, but I had a lot of rough years in school so that time was the ray of light after groping through the darkness. It wasn’t fully lit but that first ray of light is a big deal.

Great to see you discover The Cure. Whenever you decide to react to one of their songs make sure you check if it was on The Mixed Up Album. Some of their greatest songs re-mastered by Rober Smith (lead singer) himself. I strongly recommend these songs from that album Lullaby, Close to Me, Lovesong, Pictures of you and The Caterpillar ... side note also some great songs when you are having a romantic night with the ladies. Robert Smith (the singer and main songwriter of The Cure) has been with the same girl, his very first girlfriend, since they were both 13. They married in 1989 and are still together today. His wife Mary appears in the music video for this song.

Man, you're hitting so many of my faves tonight! Love The Cure! You should try some older stuff by The Killers, they kinda remind me of The Cure. My son loved both groups, his fave song by The Killers was "Smile Like You Mean It." wWhich is a wistful song about time's passage and it was so hard to listen to after he passed because his own time here went so fast, only 31 years. The Cure this is the band of bands for the 80s alternative music I remember seeing Robert Smith for the first time playing lead guitar for siouxsie and the banshees and then he broke away.. I got to see the cure in Los Angeles in the 80':and in Phoenix Arizona 90's they're fantastic.. I'm not a fan of their newest album songs.

LOVE the Cure...never got to see them live sadly but I did see Robert Smith (the lead singer) when he filled in on tour for Siouxsie and the Banshees, another band I'd highly recommend..also Bauhaus..saw them live at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, I was heavily pregnant with my second son at the time, he reckons it answers for a lot of things..lol...Plus Depeche Mode, Poly Styrene, The Damned.....and so many more from that era. I feel blessed to have been young during the 70's and 80's (most of the 60's too to be honest) there will never be a time like it again for fantastic music..The UK surpassed itself for great bands...
