In this reaction video, this metalhead reacts to the foundations of decay by My Chemical Romance. In all my My Chemical Romance reactions, I always find amazing songs from this band, a lot of which end up on my playlist. Gerard Way has an incredible voice, and I'm excited to see what this new song brings. this is my newest My Chemical Romance reaction.

The distortion on the vocals is intentional, as the song goes on, it gradually gets clearer. Gerard actually uses a few guitar distortion pedals with his mic live to get the same effect.

If you love Gerard's screaming you should check out Rōnin by Ibaraki (Matt Heafy of Trivium's black metal project). Gerard and Ihsahn of Emperor are features on that song.

The double time breakdown at the end was such a nod to their old stuff. This is so good because they've moved FORWARD while honoring what we all love from them from the past! Also, do you have an instagram?

This song is like everything they were all doing solo in a tasty music cake. Like the distortion on the vocals is a lot like what Gerard was doing on Hesitant Alien but in a more pop way. Also this song absolutely goes off live. It was amazing. If your interested there's a song they've been doing live all through the Swarm tour that's an old instrumental break they did during Danger Days concerts, but they added vocals (different lyrics every single show by the way) and it is heavy like this. Look up Noise Jam, like maybe not for the channel cause its only live fan recordings that exist, but if you like the heavier sound of foundations you will love Noise Jam

Omg I had your notifications on but somehow missed this. Thank you for reacting to this one! When you said “Oh there he is” at the end of the first verse I just remember thinking the same thing when I first heard this song. This being their first release in 9 years was very emotional and I just felt the excitement I had a year ago come back while watching your reaction to it!

it reminds me of how in Early Sunsets the instrumentals were louder than gerard's vocals initially, until it gradually got softer until it's just his voice in the last line. every production choice in this song is fully intentional, i love the sense of overwhelming drowning that Foundations gives you.

Patiently waiting for the drop to see your reaction to it 😂. Saw them in March with my daughter after waiting 2years coz of covid. Was definitely worth the wait.

Brother same, same. My daughter was in my wife's belly at 3 MCR shows in '06. She finally saw the boys live in Orlando. I actually met Mikey and was introduced to Gerard by Mikey during the Revenge tour way back in '04. I was working at a place called The Masquerade in Ybor city. I gave up my bar that night to work the MCR rider backstage. Mikey really liked my Silver Surfer sleeve and wanted to show Gerard. I was immediately shocked at how short the genius is. Mikey is my height. I got a hug from Mikey and high five from Gerard and Frank as they were exiting stage right where I watched the show right behind Ray. I walked them to the bus after the show. If I had not already been a fan of Revenge before the show I would definitely be a fan after meeting the Way brothers. I met quite a few "rock stars" during my time at Masquerade and they were by far the nicest & most humble dudes I met. In case you're wondering the worst I met was Phil Anselmo when he played the venue with Super joint ritual. Just a huge prick. Long live My Chemical Romance ❤️.

I do understand what you mean by wishing Gerard’s vocals were more in the foreground! But the instrumental portion of the song is so good I can almost forgive them for it 😂 definitely inspired by Gerard’s solo music since distorted vocals were his style during that part of his career.
