They are awesome live. Saw them last year opening for Halestorm. I'll watch later, I'll be at work during the premier. Judging by the background, you did the official video. This is one of 3 songs redone with new English lyrics and guest vocalists. Wolf Totem was redone with Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach). The other 2 are Yuve Yuve Yu with Danny Case(From Ashes to New), and Song of Women with Lzzy Hale (Halestorm).

The band’s name translates to the Mongolian root word for human being, and their unique approach blends instruments like the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp) and throat singing withcontemporary sounds, creating a unique sonic profile that they call “Hunnu Rock.”

I knew you would enjoy this. I heard them live earlier this year, and during their song "Black Thunder" there were six guys on stage all throat singing, and it is powerful. I recommend the music videos (it covers 2 vids) for it, they are beyond epic. They recently have been designated as "Artists of Peace" by Unesco. Wonderful humans all.

One of my favorite groups. They do a cover of Metallica's Sad But True. It's the throat singing that I love. Their instruments are the Morin Kuur or Horsehead Fiddle, Tovshuu (Mongolian guitar ), Tumur Kuur (jaw harp) for your buzz. Of course if you watch some of the live recordings at the Studio, you add all of the different drums and guitars. There's a whole bunch of people in studio. I've been listening to this band for years. They came to Boston not too long ago, unfortunately I am disabled and had no way to go see them in the city an hour away. Great reaction ✌❤😎

The Hu: This band was founded in 2016. The syllable Hu in the band name is the Mongolian root for the word human. The band name roughly translates as 'the people'. The band's logo shows a snow leopard. The band chose this animal because of its mythical significance. Among other things, it is said to be a symbolic animal for ancient Mongolian tribes. The four members of the band, Gala (Singer), Jaya (Singer), Enkush (Mongolian horse head violin, Undertone singing) and Temka (Mongolian Gitarre), all have degrees in music from the Mongolian State Conservatory. Jaya teaches there under his real name G. Nyamjantsan. The HU have modified and strengthened their instruments, which were mostly played sitting down. The Hu call their style of music Hunnu Rock. They use traditional Mongolian musical instruments such as the horse head violin, the Mongolian guitar and also employ traditional Mongolian undertone singing. The HU have modified and strengthened their instruments, which were mostly played sitting down. From the field of heavy metal they mainly borrow the hammering basses for their music. (www)

The HU is a great band that sings about serious subjects in their songs. They invoke the rise of the spirit of the mighty Gehngis Khan and his ruling Khan daughters. They call against the oppression from Communist China and Russia. Who keep them down. They called for the return of the Mongolian warrior spirit that is missing in their society. The HU wants the return of the mighty Khan empire. True warriors at heart. I gathered this from many of their songs.

I hope they don't literally want the return of the empire of Genghis Khan since Genghis Kahn was responsible for killing over 10% of the earth's population at the time. Today that would be the equivalent of killing every man, woman and child in North America and about half of everyone in South America. Or more pertinent to Mongolia, it would be doing a Thanos and wiping out half the combined populations of Russia and China. A country needs a warrior spirit for defense, just not the conquering kind, especially the Genghis Kahn conquering kind.

That low ongoing tone you talk of is called a Drone note. As old as the hills, you will find it in most cultures somewhere, used a lot in Classical music and even modern music. Nightwish use it a lot. A lot of Scottish traditional music and other Celtic / Saxon /germanic music incorporate it. The Bagpipes and Uillean Pipes actually have one or two pipes that are purely Drones. In all likelyhood it probably goes all the way back to our ancestors blowing on a hollowed out bone, sat around a fire in a cave. So yes, it is Primal and speaks to the Racial Memories in all Human species, even the ones long gone

In battle a warrior needs to be not only physically able, but also has to have psychological preparedness. Isolation and doubt is no stranger to warriors before a fight and the uninitiated often have a harder time mentally winning the battle of their own mortality. Chanting, bellowing out war cries and like dispels any fears which look to weaken the ranks. It also serves as tool of support amongst the group, letting one another know that they are not alone, it strengthen morale and in many ways it the purest form of winning a fight before it has even begun, so all that remains is the breaking of bone and the tearing of flesh.

Their song Song of women ft. Lzzy Hale is gorgeous and delicate. Well worth listening to! Funny you should mention the impact of low voices. There's a compilation video of women reacting to Tim Fousts low notes. They all looked like their ovaries were having a party. The low notes have an actual physical and emotional effect, I've felt it too. Since you're into psychology, do you know anything about where that almost universal feeling in women to very low, male notes comes from? Left ove primal instinct? I would love to know more about it. Have you thought about doing a video about the physical and mental impact of music on the body and mind?

The history of Mongolia and the dynasty of Kahn. It sits between Russia and China. Talk about wars of old... Mongolia had to conquer just to survive. Fun rumor, the Mongolian language is still used for about a 200 mile radius outside their country. They have very little surface resources because of the terrain, elevation and temperatures. They have continued the traditions of throat singing.

Interesting thing about the “wrath of heaven” reference, there’s a story (I’ll tell the short version) about a defeated King who was spared but his kingdom utterly destroyed by Chinggis Khaan, he asked what they did to deserve this, to which Chinggis Khaan (supposedly) replied “I am the Wrath of Heaven, if your sins had not been so great God would not have sent me to destroy you.”

Awesome reaction as always! I just heard The HU for the first time a couple months ago and they're amazing aren't they? I love that they use traditional style instruments as well. Congrats on the sponsor as well! Gthic always seems to be one of the first to get to the good reactors. I can't afford any merch but I hit the link anyways so you get credit for that! You're rolling now, keep up the awesome work Rosalie, you're doing great. I also wanted to say I really enjoyed your breakdown and discussion after the song. It's rare to find someone who is willing to stand out and be realistic and balanced. Your comment about the pendulum swinging back and forth between extremes is one of the best comparisons I've heard. Everyone needs to hear that. Why does it have to be so hard to promote masculinity and femininity both? We're all humans, I just want to celebrate both without the fear of being shamed.

@@rosalieelliottofficial I also very much appreciate your discussion after the video. I have always believed that there is a duality to masculinity, a light and a dark. The instinctive nature of most men is that of protector, while a much smaller percentage of men are predators. Both of these types of men are masculine, therefore masculinity is not in itself good or bad. I think the idea of Toxic Masculinity originally meant the predator male. However the current trend is to condemn masculinity as a whole. This is both unfair and unrealistic. No matter how much it is desired, the elimination of the predator will never happen. Those type of men will always walk the earth. Therefore the masculine protector will always be needed. I am not saying women are helpless. They are not. They simply shouldn't have to fight the predator alone.

Well you got introduced to this band faster than I thought you would. They have done a Hu-Version of Sad but True (Metallica) that I think is amazing. I love their throat singing. I think that there is a song out there that you would love. Woman's song ft Lzzy Hale of Halestorm.

Loved watching you react to this. You should check out "Yuve Yuve Yu" and "Song of Woman" featuring Lzzy Hale from Halestorm. Their videos are visually stunning.
