Don’t apologize, as TOOL fans we repeat songs all the time. No other band is, and likely never will be, like them. These 4 gents tap into your humanity. That’s what makes them too good. 🌀
Do yourself a favor and listen to the album all the way through. Albums are curated, and they are brilliant at transitions. It's a transcendental experience.
I've always felt The Grudge is every TOOL song wrapped up into a single serving. It contains elements and signature of each album on this track up to and including the scream
As to your question at the end, I think sometimes we hear lyrics without really hearing, but our brain is completely locked in, and sometimes Tool just plain says what you need to hear. The whole of the Lateralus album resonates with me on a deep level, because I feel like it mirrors my mental health journey over the last few years and has allowed me to further reflect on where I am in my life spiritually and mentally and helped me strengthen not only my relationships around me, but my relationship with myself. I hold grudges against myself and every time I listen to this, I feel like I get to let go a little more. I know I over shared here, but seeing you get emotional kind of out of nowhere hit me too. I guess I say all that to say that this may be one of my all-time favorite reaction videos.
You quite literally have the BEST stank face. It makes it so fun to watch these reactions. The Grudge is a profoundly emotional song. Not everyone picks up on that. If you want to have your mind blown all over again, look into the symbolism behind Saturn ascending and what it has to do with spiritual evolution. It’s a VERY deep song. Keep spiraling out, friend 🌀
I love the second run through! The Grudge is my favorite song from Tool. I always get emotional at the end. 25 second scream reminds me of releasing your grudges. Freakin banger!
Let GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I've been a Tool fan for over 32 years, they've been my favourite band for 32 years, I'm so glad you've found them.. * That 25 second scream Maynard does towards the end of the song tho.. 🤯🎶 #SPIRALOUT 🔧🎶🌀
You can literally see the moment this mans soul was touched by tool at 13:10 to 13:15 im pretty sure we've all felt this on more than one occasion when listening to them welcome to the tool army man make yourself comfortable we've been expecting you
June 2001, I walk into a FYE music store before my shift at The Cheesecake Factory and they had like 20 or so albums up on the wall with headphones to listen to them before you buy. I see the new Tool album and think the cover art is bizarre yet cool. I toss on the headphones and listen to The Grudge as the album opener. I proceeded to stand there and listen to this whole song thinking it was the best fucking thing I ever heard. Their preceding Aenima album is great but this was just a whole different level of a different kind of awesomeness. I listened to the song 3 times since I couldn’t pause or rewind. I walked in late to my shift because of this song! After I made enough money in tips, I ran over to the store to buy it so it couldn’t sell out. I couldn’t stop listening to it over and over. One of the best songs ever in my humble opinion and I love watching others react to it imagining myself the first time I heard it in that FYE store in 2001. Great reaction!
That's awesome. I didn't listen to tool until around 05 or 06, where I had friends who did but I was stuck in my classic rock phase. So I went to the store, and found Lateralus solely based on the cover art as well, plus I had heard Schism before once or twice. And I listened to that whole album front to back every single day after school for probably months. And that started my TOOL obsession for quite a few years. I am now going back and revisiting everything again, and man, there is just something magical about this album. This has GOT to be in the top 3 best albums of all time for me if not number 1. And it also must be in the top 10 albums in general of all music ever created.
Carrying a grudge is like you taking poison & expecting the other person to get sick. Love watchin the music wash over you & you come alive when it hits you. Nice work...keep on pimp!
Rare music that allows you to find something new with every listen. Somewhat seemingly supernatural with a fun fact to finish: Maynard & the rest of tool record their parts separately which I think means the three musicians work together and then Maynard puts the singing in after: Mix Well in The Studio.
Of course i watch the whole video even if you run the song twice i can completly understand it when it comes to tool. Cool reaction and face expression to this banger
My personal favorite Tool song. Fun fact- Danny Carey said this song is the hardest out of their discography to play. The most intense song. Rosetta Stoned and Ticks & Leeches also have really insane drums on them.
Tool just hits different. I've been into them since 1996 and I love seeing new younger peeps get blown away. In a sense, I can to hear it again for that first time through you 🙏
It is the one for me, man. The album I wish I could hear for the first time again, and this is the opener. Over 2 decades later it has lost none of it's power.🤯🤯🤯
Too bad you don’t live in Dallas. We would be killing some concerts in the future. Can’t believe you ran it back and dropped the f bomb. That’s when I know it’s fire for you for sure. Don’t stop spiraling 🌀 out!!!
Love it Stax! I appreciate you reacting to my 2nd fav band all time (#1 rage). Very Insightful and you’re getting tool ready cause they just have so many bangers. Btw your reaction to RATM “how I could just kill a man” I was vibing with ya brother! Much love & continued success! 💯
I respect your opinion, but every year that goes by I find myself liking Rage a lot less. Saw their last tour and it was mediocre at best. And it’s taken a long time but I’ve also come to realize that Adam Jones is a waaaaaay better guitar player than Tom Morello
I have seen Tool a few times and they somehow sound even better live. I know it doesn't seem possible, yet it is true. Amazing music, stage show, crowd and incredible band.
This was so good im going to watch your two reactions again! We live vicariously through you because we can only hear Tool for the first time once. Keep em coming bro! ÆNIMA next is a must! Maynard disses LA!
This song is fire. The lyrics resonate with me... Being a capricorn. lol not that i believe in astrology even but this song helped me through some addiction problems. When he keeps saying "let go let go let go let go let go" it really helped me let go of my ex dying and all the hurt i experienced in those times and the trauma i lived. Not saying im totally over all that.... but it definitely changed something in me. Thank you Tool for your great and insightful music. My favorite tool track by far. So glad to see this resonate with someone else on the same level as it did with me. Descending and H. both hold a special place in my heart too. Love your interpretation of the lyrics my friend. Youre quite insightful in your thoughts on them and i appreciate that especially on first listens. Respect.
Saturn's cycle is about 27 years. Which can represent when people reach maturity. The Stone is not only something that weighs you down but is also a reference to the philosopher's stone from Alchemy which was sought to transmute metal, usually lead, into gold (as in leaden Grudges).
Here for the full rewind, hell yeah. Such an angry kick in the head way to start an album that explores so much of the human emotional condition. Listen to the whole thing in one sitting when you get a chance, see how all the pieces fit together.
“Unable to forgive your Scarlett letterman”. A Scarlet Letterman is an adulteress. If you read deeply into the lyrics, you see its all about unfaithfulness. Saturn ascends, meaning every seven years of our life. Saturns makes a full circle, and every seven years, we shed the old self. Very humbling.
We don't have to watch the second time LOL Yes, we do!!!!! Also, this is fucking incredible live. I've seen it live several times recently, still fucking banging.
Your Saturn ascension is approximately 29 1/2 years to 30 years in your existence. The planet Saturn will meet you full circle at that point. at that point do you have any grudges or do you want to let this go? We only live through a couple Saturn 🪐 rises
You should do descending off the last albumn they did also may I recommend a albumn for you to check out soundbombing 2 cause I know you don't do alot of hip hop on your channel and all the artist on it kinda shaped my whole 90s hip hop vibe
Tool is like floating on the surface of a calm body of water, and then each member starts throwing things in to cause ripples... sometimes it's pebbles, sometimes stones, sometimes boulders, and sometimes it's a fleet of aircraft carriers thrown from the top of Mount Everest.
'Something kinda sad about the way that things have come to be desensitized to everything What became of subtlety'?.. Some of my favourite lyrics ever.. 🔧🎶🌀🖤
Tool is what gets me to watch reactioneers? You are one of a few that I will watch other stuff you put out (Beastie Boys - ahem). Sometimes it’s new to me (songs you react to), sometimes it’s discovering something new to me. As a point of reference, I was a FT DJ at a club (14 years) in my home state. One where the women aren’t always clothed, but if they are - they were customers. So I stopped discovering a lot of music since I no longer DJ’d (2006-ish). No comment of awesome for a 26+ second scream? Aarrgghh. BUT, like the hair all out and about - it’s a bonus. Learn To Swim (from AEnema)
@@StaxReacts oh, I wasn't suggestion you react to it - A lot of the Tool Army always signs off "Spiral Out" - I tend to use the lyric from AEnema "Learn To Swim". All good?!
27 seconds is the screen with is the 27 years that saturn cycles with is 10000 days the name of the next album witch are the 27 years that his mother was paralyzed and die. Spyral out
Now that you have done Tool, Floyd, Rush, and the great Neil and Danny, now it's time for Dream Theatre and Mike Portnoy on 🥁 You should star with: Pull me Under Under a glass Moon
I don't know if it's intentional, but it seems like the odd time signature are chosen to throw you off so you have to completely let go of control and enjoy the ride like a rollercoaster.
The reason this song moves u is for 1 of 2 reasons I imagine? Other than it being a great song its possibly 1) U personally experienced what grudges can do to ppl or 2) Bcuz we are all just ENERGY moving at a certain frequency depending on our personalities or our levels of consciousness. The faster our vibrations are the higher we are in levels. We can only hope (in 1 lifetime) to achieve the highest level which is a Christ consciousness. So the vibrations off this song complements yr vibration therefore you enjoy it. Same is true wen u dont like songs. They dont coincide with yr frequency n they clash. Negative n argumentative ppl have a very LOW frequency like my narcissistic X. N not surprisingly doesnt like TOOL!? lol. So thats actually the meaning behind the phrase "I vibe w/it!" Tho many dont even realize that. Thats where it comes from. The fact you actually VIBE w/it tells all of us "in the know" sumthing about yr character! Welcome to the HIGH VIBE minds! Keep going w/it n feel yr vibrations rise higher n higher! Many, many ppl have completely changed their lives around for the better just from listening to this inspirational, emotive music. I kid u not! If you do come across ppl who cant really "get into TOOL" then you know why n its just not their time yet. Like in 46 & 2, wen Maynard shouts "This is MY TIME!" my hands are in the air while singing that wayyyy outloud!! lol. So See u on the OTHER SIDE. Love n Light to u n yours.......Leesie
