Back in the day everyone said Ice was a poser and the song was so unappreciated. But time has proven this song is a certified banger and stood the test of time way better than most of the 90's hip hop we claimed was "real music" at the time. Someone else summed it up perfectly. We thought we were too cool for Vanilla Ice, but in reality Vanilla Ice was too cool for us.

This and MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" exposed a bunch of us kids to hip-hop, but I didn't really gain an appreciation for what hip-hop could offer until I listened to the classic "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five. A seminal track in music history.

@@rain9058 Oh, so sorry, I suppose I should have said partially ripped off if you’re going to harp on semantics. However, it was definitely blatant. Also, for the record, those “two bars’ as you were so insistent happened to be throughout a lot of the song that he did. He did rip them off. I understand if you are a fan of his, and there’s no denying his song is catchy, but he did do something wrong, he did rip off someone else’s song, and it doesn’t matter if it was only two bars

Ice Ice Baby was sampled from "Under Pressure" by Queen and singer David Bowie, who did not receive songwriting credit or royalties until after it had become a hit. Vanilla Ice (Robert Van Winkle), wrote "Ice Ice Baby" in 1983 at the age of 16. There was a lot of controversy over the sampling at the time. The song was played so much MTV stopped playing it.
