I remember doing the same thing when I first went out. You think your going fast but your not. It takes time especially when you don't drive all the time but you will get faster with practice. Love the feeling sitting behind the wheel of a race car. Nothing matters in life when your out there.
Awesome, it reminds me of my first time. First getting used to it, feeling it out and then opening it up more as I got more used to it. That's the safer way to learn.
Go easy, It's a lot of power an intimidation to deal with. I remember first starting out. It's not necessarily just the fear, it's the rush that gets you shaking. There's a lot to think about and things happen quick. I would be shaking after running a heat because I would get so amped up and tired from the run. It's a HUGE, indescribable adrenaline dump and the faster you go, the more you want. The run is over quick and you are starving for more. You really can't explain it to someone who's never done it, and people making negative comments obviously never have or they wouldn't be saying that stuff.
For all the negativeers...This is Mercer Raceway Park...its pure dirt with no clay. meaning very little traction. AND, rookies have a flag on the rear upright to let expereinced drivers know they are near a rookie. AND...rookies arent allowed to go balls out kickin it slideways so the kid did what he was told. hats off son!...I have around 3000 laps there and that track gets the best of us...cheers!!!
good job... cool video. I personally owned a WOO team for several yrs. I never ever sat in the car... I knew better than to start, I'd never want to stop. Glad you were blessed enough to experience it!
shadowhobbies REALLY I RAN THE PISS OUT OF MINE RHE FIRST TIME OUT AND ENDED UP BREAKING THE ENGINE ,CANT FEAR THESE MACHINES YOU EITHER GOT IT IN YOUR BLOOD OR YOU DONT, ILL CALL THAT A PUSSY FOOT LAP, FOR A FIRST TIMER , A SUNDAY DRIVE, AT LEAST GET THE CAR UP TO A STEADY SPEED AND GET THE FEEL OF THE THING
@@ljbrizo It's just like you said You got it or you Ain't got it , I'm one of the few that really got it the 1st time I drove I run the dam wheels off the one I drove That man up there was waving the black flag at me , You could hear that other guy talking on the loud speaker Saying get him off the track , But did I stop ? Shit no I was burning the track up and having so much fun I just kept on going round and round And that man kept on waving that flag and that other fellow kept on screaming to the top of his lungs Git him off the track / Git him off the Dam track And I still wouldn't stop Then when I was coming outta turn 3 I noticed somebody Had drove a big pet milk tanker truck On the middle of the track right in front of that fellow that was up there in his Deer stand waving that black flag at me , So what do you think I did about ! I whooped right into the Pitts and came right back out on the track And took her into turn 1 sideways I did that for 3 laps Until they blocked off the pit entrance and exit So then I realized They didn't want me Out there driving anymore , That one fellow was still up there waving that flag at me And that other fellow was on that loud speaker hollering That's the damdist Thing I've ever seen And all the fans stood up and cheered Right then and there I Knew I had it in my blood , I was born to drive a race car. So yeah you either got it or you Ain't got it. Oh it was talked about a long time after that Everybody said they'd Never seen anybody drive like that before. I don't know for sure but I'm thinking I probably set a new track record.
You shoved off nice for a first timer. I’ve seen kids need to make 10 laps around the track to fire the car up. I helped my buddy work on his 360 sprint car he ran in a series across NY State and a few places in Canada. We were in a city northeast of Montreal and my buddy egged me on to get pushed off for the motor heat instead of him. I was terrified man, I just started the car and eeked back into the pits. I’m sure guys wanted to pass me just at pace speed. There is nothing like a sprint car, no race car matches the horsepower versus weight ratio on four wheels. Hope you hop in one again and post another video, maybe shut some of these jerkoff haters up who have never even stood next to a race car.
Thats the best way to get used to it, get a feel for it. Thats a lot of motor for a light car and at speed they can give you one hell of a ride! Nice adrenalin rush ain't it!
Sprint car's are ridiculous, if you're not going fast enough you don't push on the side panels hard enough, if you don't stand on the throttle at the right time, wrong time or not hard enough they don't want to turn or straighten up.
i agree with brad I raced my micro at mercer and drove a guys 600 which don't seem like its gonna be much of a difference because you leave a 600 in gear and just throttle and steer so yea its nice to run a micro first
Like many of you, I've been involved in racing in various forms all my life. Formula One, Indy, NASCAR, IMSA and other pavement racing is fine and gets bigger crowds and pays more money. But there is nothing like a 410 Sprint car and the World Of Outlaws. However, there is something that comes close - and that is "Speedway" motorcycle racing. If you aren't familiar with the 500cc, no brakes thrill of a thumper at a "Speedway" event, try it. There's as much adrenalin in a "Speedway" rider as in an Outlaw IMHO. More popular in Europe and Australia but still extremely intense racing. Anybody else have an opinion?
The yellow car is out there show him the way around? The first time that guy passed me, I'm gonna see if I can catch up. The second time he passes me, I would follow his car as much as I could. He's already proved you can make it around going that fast. Before you pay for a ride, watch as many in-car videos as you can to see what it looks like at speed, right?
I got to do this at Knoxville IA. Going Backwards to iron the track and warm the oil. It is areal rip.. It was in Jerry Blund"s # 33 I'll never gorgey the feeling of raw HP
Don't know why you guys are making negative comments. Its a scary thing getting in a sprint car for the first time. It's a completely different form of driving than you use in a fender car or modified and you feel completely vulnerable when you leave the full size car and get into a midget or sprint car.
Brother... Can I please ask you one thing. Please don't get mad when I say this. Do you have that opportunity to go around that track in that car and you did not lay into it not once as hard as you could? Why LOL Lord help me Jesus! I guess everybody's different I don't know but as long as you had fun that's all that matters
I hopped in one for the first time today and let me tell you....It's a little overwhelming how much power and throttle response these things have. They feel like they could just roll over pitching in the turns hard but you have to remember they bite and hold. It's not something you just jump in and gun your first time. So much fun though.
TheBattlestorm yes they are . as long as you use right amount of throttle in the turn to pull out its very hard to get use to For more visual info go on you tube search type Daara sprints search look for my name click on it takes u to my channel ps sorry for bad spelling
Dave Hutchins Have you drove a sprint car before if not shut up. If u think (bad idea for u) that i should not Never comment again because i forgot some words like, is like , for , i am not embarrassed. i am mad autistic human being you sick person.
