I took suggestions from my comments and this is what I reacted to! Let's get out of the comfort zone. Is this Mongolian Throat singing??? It definitely sounds like it's being formed in the throat!

This is something not to overthink. Feel it. It makes sense.

The instrument is a Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle). I love the bass tone in his voice in contrast to the higher pitch of the Morin Khuur. ❤

I'm going to paraphrase a reactor from a couple years ago... if you and your buddies are out cruising for a fight, and you see these guys up on a hill.... they are NOT the ones you're going to choose. You're going to quietly ride on.

In the same picture that shows your break lever. I have the skull ring on his muddle finger. It was a present for my 50th birthday.

Yes, you're right. When you play Moring Huur, you don't press on the string.

Best reaction I've seen to this song. Great analysis and perspective. I've learned a lot of their culture from their songs/lyrics/videos.

Hi there, both translation is little bit off. Actual lyrics in Mongolian is somewhat epic and poetic. The link you have sent has captured little bit of its poetic side but I feel like to keep it poetic it actually went separate ways with the actual lines being sang. Translation on the MV is actually very rigid and doesn't feel like it did justice to this song. Great analysis and thanks for the reaction video.

Also the whistle like sound at the beginning, before the video starts, is throat singing.

The strings on the Morin Khuur are horsehair not metal so string tensions aren't the same as an electric modern instrument.

So i don't know Mongolian myself, but considering the origin of this song is a war chant from the days of Khans (can't remember if it's specifically Chinggis/Ghengis or another one) that was modified for this it's very likely the video lyrics are correct after checking the link you provided, they are boasting their strength and adaptability and also talking about the units and specializations in war times: the ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand line, those were the amounts of soldiers in different military divisions and the flooding, swarming, flying, charging line was about weaponry (archery and swords) and tactics (ofc isolating enemies so they break formation and I don't know if the timeline is right but I do remember historical records of old Chinese military using artificial floods by overflowing rivers to drown enemies and slow down transport).

On a lot of their videos you can use captions. They do match ive seen others use them. HU in Mongolian means Human. I'M A HU FAN FOR LIFE!!! The strings on the morin khuur is made out of 200 horse tail hairs one string is male and one is female.

Watched quite a few reactions to The Hu and yours was up there with the best. I would suggest that you check out their collaboration with Lizzi Hail from Hailstorm in Song of Women. East meets West, made for each other. Enjoy !

Ready to ride across the steppes and take all comers? :) This is a great song. If you're interested in more international groups, I'm going to suggest Heilung (Hi-lung) and "Krigsgaldr" in particular. If you enjoyed "The Wolf Totem", you should like that one too.

There are some problems with English translations using CC but not always. Sometimes you just have to test it at first and see how it goes. This song is a war chant. The English seems correct to me. When it works great then be sure to use it, it really helps with songs in other than English. This one and most of The HU has very good translations. You will notice the HU band official videos are beautiful with lovely scenery most of the time, at it's interesting. Enjoyed your reaction, keep going.
