The album cover is from a video I found on RU-vid that had the wrong cover on it unfortunately . I appreciate it if I can stop hearing about the cover 😁Thank you!
😬 Floyd is a trip... thing is.. once your brain starts to get it... its hard to listen to todays music.. Floyd is so advanced for its time that if i took most people and played tracks to them 50 years or 100 years from now they’d still go ‘wow’. Listen to greatest gig in the sky (dark side album, not live).. Time (dark side) etc etc... brain opener music... Floyd is a genre to itself... who today writes music like this? Even then? Phillip glass? Peter Gabriel? Alan parsons project? Nope.. Floyd is a freak show of unsurpassed talents... PS talking of trips, can hear you flicking a lighter in the back ground... TIP FROM GOD... roll a big fat one.. listen to dark side of the moon... you will be the 100th million person this year to have done the round trip... smoke it, play it, feel it.. do it!
@@zhardoum Thanks mate! I reacted to the Dark side of the Moon already and I have animals coming up in a few minutes. I agree with you because I was into rap unfortunately when I was younger. Bands like this will have more talent than any other genre imo. The complexity is amazing
Dru MacIntyre yes, complexity. These guys in the 70’s were on the ‘Top’ of their game, since then music has dumbed down, don’t blame the musicians,, labels like DJ’s.. easy to book & track, big bands with truck loads of equipment & roadies cost too much & peoples tastes have become dumber (autotune anyone?).. so i doubt we will ever get another band like Floyd within the next 50 years... like the Big Band sounds of the 60’s... complex music is of a bygone era... ps.. my bad.. spotted you did dark side after my op (yeah, my bad so ill leave my comment as was) BUT don’t tell me smoking a fat one & listening to dark side off camera wasn’t a trip.. billions of college studios be like ‘been there, done that and f me man was it cool bro...’
They found them on a crashed Satellite in the Sci-FI show Space Above and Beyond and the Alien fleet they were waiting to ambush was going the wrong way so one of the characters played them over the radio to attract the enemy. Was a fan of that show from then as that was the pilot episode xD
That is an interesting point. He didn't have a lot, or really any flare to the way he played it. It was just a series of tone perfect notes played at the right time in a way that is unmistakable. Not much to look at but awe inspiring to hear.
@@brentb5303 "Not much to look at but awe inspiring to hear..." That can describe Pink Floyd themselves. Just some plain looking English dudes without much flair (I'm talking post-Barrett). They didn't really even want to be seen, but they wanted you to hear them.
Not only the band, son. The music. David speaks his hearth through his guitar. As my lifetime hero, Jimmy. Hey, I'm 67, and when I listen to David and Jimmy, my hearth bleeds. I've been through very, very hard times in the last 16 years, and I found deep comfort in their music. Enough to keep me from to not put an end to my sufferering... Music is the magic here.
Pink Floyd is rock orchestra. It spans over several genres of music. Its a feeling , a sound, an emotion a heartbeat all rolled into a perfect meld of ear candy.
@@deantait8326 I'll be 62 in November. I don't remember music without Pink Floyd. By far, my favorite... of anyone. Some people say that music (artists) speak to you... they do, me.
Bill Ness I swear his guitar even cries for us at times. It takes on a life of its own. The only other time I’ve felt that way about a guitarist is listening to Jimmy Page
If you get the chills, man, that is the music moving and flowing through you. Nothing weird about it; it’s a subconscious affiliation and attraction to something beautiful.
If you are about to go down a Pink Floyd rabbit hole, I will follow you there. Subscribed to see if you do. Highly recommend going through Dark Side of the Moon track by track. It's an experience. Oh, and try to do with headphones. The way they mixed their music in stereo is something to behold.
Amen to that. To Dru, let me just say, "All that you touch, and all that you feel...all that you taste...all you feel...and all that you love, and all that you hate...all you distrust, and all that is safe...and all that you give, and all that you deal...and all that you buy, beg borrow or steal...and all you create, and all you destroy, and all that you do, and all that you say...and all that you eat...and everyone you meet...and all that you slight, and everyone you fight...and all that is now, and all that is gone, and all that's to come, and everything under the sun is in tune...but the sun is eclipsed by the moon."
That, by the way, is the lyrics to 'Eclipse' on Dark Side of the Moon. You need to listen to the entire album, with headphones. You may never be the same afterward, the music is that powerful.
First, thank you for the respect you showed the music and me by not interrupting it. You might enjoy seeing this live. Search "Comfortably Numb Pulse."
Use headphones. Seek out the live version of Comfortably Numb from the Pulse concert. Then, take the dive and react to Dogs, from Floyd's Animals album. Boy, are you in for a journey, musically and psychologically. Again, headphones are a must for Floyd listening. Great reaction BTW and thank you for not talking over the music. Keep up the good work, friend.
Thanks for getting back to me! Been watching reaction videos for the past week, so many great songs and reactions. Two in particular really stood out tho...Disturbed "Sound of Silence" and the other Judas Priest "Victim of Changes". The singers are icons with very unique voices, legendary! I'll stop in again. Thanks
I really appreciated this video, I'm glad you got it man, welcome to the show :) Pink Floyd is all that and more :) Thanks for sharing your experience, I got to experience it all over again through you :)
this album remains today the world best top ten ever selling albums this album SITS IN 1ST PLACE spending more than 35 years in the American CASEYS TOP 40!!!
57 now, listening since high school, different periods in my life it made me feel different ways, I will still put on headphones, 420, lay back and just let it take me.
This is one of those rare moments where a song is more an experience than a song. The only other I can think of is Stairway to Heaven. You start off feeling one way, and by the end you’ve gone on a journey.
I've had that argument with a few people. As good as Hendrix was, I honestly think Gilmore is a little better. Honestly, I rate them about tied for the #1 spot without anyone else even close. I give the edge to Gilmore because Hendrix's flame burned out before he could create more. No matter how you rate them, they are the two best ever, and close enough that it's fair to debate one way or the other.
I listened to this when it came out in 1980. All we could do was play it on our record player look at the cover art and get high. Pink Floyd was a level of consciousness that kept you there for the whole album. Great memories.
The name Pink Floyd was created using the names of two blues musicians Pink Anderson and Floyd Council and were first called the Pink Floyd Sound in late 1965.
Dude, you seriously need to check out the live version at the ‘Pulse’ concert - it features what many believe to be the greatest guitar solo of all time!! One of the few occasions where the live version is WAY better than the studio version!
So appreciate that you just listened & let the music fill your soul. It’s been 2 years by now I hope you’ve listened to the entire album & watched the movie from your new subscriber
Hey man I’ve done a lot of Floyd reactions, and I’ve got to say, explore them more, you will love it! I recommend the dark side of the moon straight through! Will be good for views/subs also!
@Dru MacIntyre It’s Floyd, no other way to describe it. Progressive/psychedelic rock is the best description if you had to label them, but their sound is just so different. You have to listen through all the way through with headphones, you’ll thank me!
I’m actually just now getting into metal on my channel, I haven’t heard much, I just started with Sabbath’s debut and checked out there first couple albums on my channel, checking out some tool, Metallica, what would you recommend??
@@andyandalex it's so many bands I've covered so far it's hard to choose haha I'd say if you like flutes or folk metal then ELVETIE king is a good song to start out with. Heavy I'd say angel maker hollow heart, their new music is brutal!!
Good headphones are a must for Pink Floyd. Their recording engineers added subtle sounds to each side and you miss those with just ear buds. Floyd is an experience-get the full effect and you'll be hooked. By the way their guitarist David Gilmour was in another league all together. Not flashy or fast but could bend and extend a note like none other.
@@davepaterson831 . Yeah I've done that with Floyd more than a couple times. But for a beginner it may be a little intense, especially with headphones. Maybe some good scotch or a little weed.
Amazing watching you experience Floyd for the first time. I saw you close your eyes and immediately understood that you were getting it. It makes me feel old seeing that you had never heard of them before, but I dig that that you listened without comment and are passing it on. Pink Floyd is amazing. We loved them growing up and I hope all you young people love them too. An amazing band! Peace and love !
My dad was a huge fan, I would hear pink floyd all the time, it brings great memories but one thing growing up with the musical influence that is pink floyd, a new listener can listen and enjoy it but if you hear it from a young age it will forever be embedded in your bones and your soul will be different.
I appreciate you playing it through without stopping to comment. Stopping the flow is detrimental to the experience.. even for me listening to it again for the millionth time!
when i was a child, i caught a fleeting glimpse, out of the corner of my eye, i turned to look, but it was gone, i cannot put my finger on it now, the child has grown, the dream is gone. how many of you really hear those words ? i love your reaction, and i think that you do !
This song cuts across all generations . I am stunned to discover Senior Citizen Citizens who were born before World War II from Big Band era and so forth that like this song . These are people who never liked rock n roll except for Elvis . but for some reason when their kids played this song their parents liked it and one I worked with I asked her if she would know Pink Floyd if she heard them because her son was a huge fan and she said yes. The reason I bring this is up because that age group I mentioned said that all RnR sounds the same .
Your right about the depth of the song and the importance of relaxing while listening to it. I think you would like hey you from the same album or Shine on You Crazy Diamond from Wish You Were Here
One of the greatest songs to come from the 70s. Beautiful song and people will listen to this song into the future. This whole album is spectacular!!! Thanks. Great guitars too! Awesome.
Ditch the headphones. Get yourself a decent stereo hifi set-up. Everyone is buying blue tooth and surround sound in a box. You can get an audiophile grade system for pennies on the dollar right now. Then you can feel the music as you listen to it. The more senses involved the better in my opinion.
I was a teenager when I began partaking in Pink Floyd... I still partake today, so to speak, as an old man. They created some of the best, ageless music/art. Like others have said, they ARE an experience. Glad you took the time to give them more than a glance. Peace. 3:)
Pink Floyd should be experienced through a good pair of headphones. Also, The Wall is telling a story so I would recommend listening in a linear fashion from beginning to end. Similar to Dane J's recommendation about Dark Side of the Moon.
to dive into pink floyd, i would suggest to listen to the album "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" complete. COMPLETE! it is one of the most influential albums in music history. AS A WHOLE!
i really appreciate how you actually LISTENED to the entire song. It was cool to watch you. In the beginning, sitting still, eyes in the air, respectfully listening. As the song continued your body began to move in sync as it was obvious you were understanding. By the end, you were smiling. I love your reaction.
I'm glad you enjoyed it buddy, Floyd is awesome, so many great songs and I hope you listen to them all. Talk about telling a story, these guys do it for sure!!!
Pink Floyd were masters of the concept album. this was from an album that is a story based on Roger waters' and Syd Barrett's lives, so it needs to be understood within that context. they're even better live. the live version in the PULSE concert has an even longer guitar solo, and that was even cut on the DVD
@@Metalheaddru the PULSE concert is the fans' favourite, but David Gilmour's live concerts [lead singer/guitarist] at Gdansk in 2006 and Pompeii, 2016 are also great concerts
PF is something that stands alone. Genre unspecific and heavily influenced by Blues and Jazz. The real beauty is the uncanny ability to draw out emotions and feeling. I recommend headphones with Pink Floyd to appreciate some of the incredible mixing. I'm glad you enjoyed it and great reaction. Send more PF!
@@Metalheaddru If you do more PF, a couple of thoughts. They didn't make 3-5 minutes songs with radio play as the goal. They made theme albums intended to be consumed whole, kinda like Queensrÿche's Operation:Mindcrime. Each album has a distinctly different feel. Keep this in mind when choosing tracks.
Music is such a wonderful thing! It's a gift we all can share with each other! You were spot on about feeling that emotion from this song. Brings us to a deep spot! Keep on keepin' on Dru! Peace :)
The beauty of Pink Floyd songs is that they're so deep and meaningful, that they cause you to reflect inward, and think about your own life. Things you've done, places you've been, experiences you've had. And while you're thinking deeply of your own life, the musicians caress your soul with mournful and soulful guitars and keyboards. You'll find most of Pink Floyd's songs will lead you down this path. Enjoy the ride!
Thank you for this. I feel like I'm watching another version of this song. Its a strong song and one of my favorites. You're emotions and all....you're beautiful. It hit you man didnt it? I felt it.Thank you for allowing me to feel it too.
Pink Floyd is my absolute favorite band of all time. I am an old woman of 57 and I will forever listen to them! When it is my time to go, I want to have this song played on my headphones!
I worked on that tour in Europe! The biggest tour i even worked on ! 50 trucks 400 crew members to build the stage ! 1994. We needed 3 days to build the stage.
At this point of my life, I've seen close to 1,000 live shows. To this day, and most likely, until I die, when someone asks me what the best show I've ever seen is I don't need to even think about it..........Floyd - 1994- Philadelphia, PA. Absolute perfection.
The '60s English band was named Pink Floyd by a founder member, Syd Barrett. He loved old school black blues, especially records by two musicians; Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. As a homage, Syd named the band after them.
;))) timeless epic music and a genre by itself..... he also liked the duo of Waters and Eddie Vedder, and then he wanted to visit Eddie Vedder. I was about to find out his address and thought of writing some letter.... but nothing of that happened unfortunately.... gonna have to reactivate that impulse....
When I first heard this song & other PF music it was always at a place like you say everyone talking & not taking it in. I really began listening to PF within 5 years I guess and I listen to it alone with my headphones and I was taken away and continue being taken away-I love their music & I'm 65 & will love them as long as I can. So relaxing don't even need a dube that can really take you away & I like that too. Enjoy. Thanks for your video it was great watching your reaction.
