So this season I was given the opportunity to do some truck mounted Moffett work! I did a bit of playing around in the yard with it, loaded it on and off the truck a couple times, then out in the wild! I have some learning to do...
Cool. The Moffett is manufactured in my home town (Dundalk, Ireland). I never seen one mounted like that on a trailer. They are usually attached at the rear. Good video...
Playing forklift operator, looks like fun. Never seen one mounted like that before, just the ones mounted on the end of the trailer that the local delivery driver use. Yeah, whatever you do don't scuff the fenders!!😲 Great video!👍 Stay safe and heathy out there. Have a nice day and a better on tomorrow! Spoke at ya later.😎
Thanks buddy! Yeah it’s pretty fun booting around on this thing I’m more comfortable on it now than I was in this video, all it takes is experience! 🤙🤙
@@callthemall I hear that, I have driven a few forklifts before but never got to drive one like that. When you slide that bracket/base forward with the forks, does it lock them into the brackets?
Well I like the truck driving stuff better, but this was good for a little distraction.😜 maybe some day you will be able to do the pallet shuffle like a boss.😎. Thanks for sharing another great video with us.🤟😃
good job boy!! with forkie machine. oh geeze ive would have spilled or dropped two or three pallets while unloading it lol. have good one and keep the rubber side down and shiny side up. 🤙🏽🤙🏽 🚚💨💨
Opperated a mounty for years very usefull piece of kit especially for site work , manufactured here in Ireland. Never seen one mounted like that before we carried ours mounted on the tail of the trailer with a counter weight at the head board.
@@callthemall I see that with the double we only run single trailers and even at that the tail is usually shortened for the forklift otherwise when running empty it can get a little interesting over here out trailer axles are not movable
@@callthemall I've seen them mounted at the rear of the second trailer, or on top pf the second trailer, but never on the top of the first-love learning something new. We use a lot of doubles (we call them super links here-RSA) and mine's mounted at the rear. Never wait for anyone, get in, drop and go. Surely one of my best investments ever. And you doing a fab job!
in Europe, a forklift like this can be loaded on the back and under the trailer while driving, and lights on the back of the truck act as the trailer's lights
I had to teach myself to drive a Moffett over the course of a week with 0 prior forklift experience so I could take the crates off flatbeds to clean and disinfect them when I worked for a trucking company that transported turkeys and chickens. The only person who was there to watch over me was the guy who pulled the trailers into the bay but even he was gone half the time. I'm surprised I didn't bend and break more of the crates and even more surprised that wasn't the reason they let me go. Luckily no trailers, vehicles or equipment were harmed though. Some twisted bird cage metal is the most damage I managed to do.
Great video..but normally the moffet hangs behind the trailer here in the netherlands then instead on the trailer..but nice to see a different way to carry the lift around...and always independent..thats the best
You didn’t throw the e brake lever in front of the ignition key when you dismounted to move the shopping cart sir. Safety first. 😂 Seriously though. Good job. My work has this same unit as a spare. Fortunately my everyday moffet is much newer and more user friendly
Nice work bud! Some tips I can offer for these machines is: Try to not cut the wheel super hard, the back tire can tear up the ground. Never drag the forks or a pallet on the ground, it can tear it up as well. And being smooth with the controls can minimize bouncing. Looking really good though keep it up!
So there’s a spot between the “on” position on the key, and the “start” position that runs the starter, and that spot if you hold it there it’s supposed to run the glow plugs for a few seconds. Well turns out I wasn’t holding the key in the correct position, and kept trying to start it without the glow plugs, basically to the point of draining the battery and all I got were clicks from the starter 😬. I called the shop mechanic, figured out the right way to light the glow plugs, and got one last crank out of the battery and she finally fired up! 😂
Hey bro I swear I helped you be a look out when you made a delivery to Ashley’s No Frills in Mississauga Ontario on Derry and McLaughlin road like 2 weeks ago. I could be wrong but I swear it was you.
Yep! That was me! That was one of the only turns that I gave up on, not only was it a pretty tight place to back into, but also because the place they wanted me to back into was constantly getting blocked in by cars, and there wasn’t going to be a whole lot of room for me to unload both sides if I parked there. It was better to just park away from the front and run the forklift over to the curb. I DID actually have a camera going on the mirror for that!! But I think I deleted the footage cause I didn’t actually make that turn, but if I can find it I’ll upload it just for you! 😂
@@callthemall oh my hahaha, I know bro that plaza is tight as hell. I used to work at that no frills while I was in highschool a while back ago. But lol that’s crazy how I just stumbled upon ur channel and recognized you😂 keep up the great videos bro and I’ll be a look out whenever I see you next😂👍🏼
I understand why you didn't do this, it's your truck, but if it was someone else's, we used to just unload everything fast and worry about organising once we got our space back. Nice to watch you work though bud.
You’re not a bad forklift driver I stick to trucking instead I drove forklift for 28 years I know everything about forklifts I worked in a factory in Oakville called CGC interiors they made suspension ceilings are used to do all my overseas containers Loading I had so much experience doing that job I retired after 28 years with a nice pension
Love your videos. I am using this truck in American Truck Simulator and I would like a video explaining in detail how you use the shifter, when you change the splitter and when you use the cluch. I would like to simulate in a real way but I dont know how to use the shifter as real as posible. Thanks.
