This was one of my favorite performances on Singer 2018 because of its arrangement, mixing genres and Hua’s stage presence. Singer 2018 is how I discovered Hua, Jessie J and KZ. The band, the light show, the crazy arrangements and the captivating performances of these three has made me a fan of the show!

Yes, he's very popular and famous in China. He's great singer, composer, artist and performer. "Nunchucks" is cover, but Hua Chenyu made amazing rearrangement. The orginal sing by Jay Chou. The orginal is very diffrent than version HCY(Hua Chenyu). Fans HCY name Martians. The rules have changed over the years but in 2018, the singers could only sing two of their own songs during the competition, the rest had to be covers. The audience of 500 vote for their favorite artist in each episode, the singer that has the most votes wins, in 2018, Jessie J won, Hua Chenyu was 2nd, but he got a special award for his own song Qi Tian which was the most viewed of all the seasons of the show. This song Nunchucks is originally a straight rap song from Jay Chou, HuaHua rearranged it in his unique way, assembling seemlessly rock, rap, chinese opera. Hi, when I saw this the first time together with his other performances on this show..... it was 🤯. It is about 2 and a half years ago now and I listen to his music every day since then. It never gets boring. His Mars concerts are amazing and I wish I can go to China one day to see and hear him live 🤩. Please more Hua Chenyu. I have to admit I actually had a giggle at your reaction to HuaHua when he was watching KZ perform. He and KZ were quite close during the show but he always looks entranced when he watches a performance he really likes. The original song is a legendary song in Chinese society. Nunchucks by Jay Chou, the legendary singer who created his own genre and changed the music industry in Chinese.

His best songs (own compositions) so far IMO are "Seven Personalities" and "Bullfight". Both has his signature beautiful chaos style.

Strongly recommend u his "Fake Monk", again will blow your mind.

Beautiful chaos is a great description of his performance. His cover is nothing like the original. This is a great intro to his versatility. He is my favorite artists. If you see Fake Monk, you will see his artistic interpretation of a cover. All his performances are all different “Hua style genre”. You have to see all to appreciate his versatility.

You will need to hear more of him. He is beautiful inside out. Others will give you lists. If not, just go through singer 2018 and 2020. Find them with English subs. I know good music does not need words BUT his songs goes so much deeper when you read the subs.

What a lovely way to describe: beautiful chaos. This is really just tip of the iceberg of what hua is capable of. He is madly versatile. All contestants on the show are of top quality. Jessie J won that season 2018. Hua came in second. And you are right, there is no way u will even hv an idea of what you going get when it comes to Hua. He does everything from rap, rock, ballads, musicals, reggae and his stage presence is unparalleled. He goes into 'character' for every performance and he composes and rearranges almost all his own performances. In 2018, they all had to do covers except for 2 of their own songs. He is quite well known in China, at the top of his game. He is a master of the stage, his performance mesmerizing. Watching you (no pun intended lol) react to Nunchucks brings me back memory when I first discovered this performance……It's mad how he had the guts to almost completely revamped this super iconic song ofJay Chou's. Nunchucks's characteristics of both rigid and flexible （as the lyrics put “Mixing softness with hardness”） was “illustrated” through the genre mash……Just genius！Bring back the most iconic part of the original song at the very end Was the cream on top of icing……

I beg you to work your way through Singer 2018 (mainly covers, as per competition rules) and Singer 2020 for his astonishing originals. Welcome to Hua Chenyu! Great reaction. It might sound chaotic without the lyrics, but the mix of genres was thoughtfully chosen to tell the story of this song. Telling the story comes first for him. Jay Chou's lyrics say that nunchucks are his favorite weapon, because it mixes hardness with softness. The stanzas switch between learning weapons (hardness) and the concepts of Ti Chi (softness.) But the music was all rap, except the western classical piano near the end. Hua Hua rearranged the music to reflect the hardness and softness, rapping to rock for the weapons classes, traditional Chinese for the Ti Chi concepts, and the choir parts for reflecting on the connections between them. He kept the iconic western classical break, but switched to hard rock with audience participation for the ending (he likes to get the audience involved) and a sort of musical theater intro to set the stage for a 3-act play. His performances often remind me of watching a play, because he's so good at telling the story. Sorry for the long comment! I just love it when new reactors responds this way to HCY. Especially when they are european, cause then you help promote this amazing artist to a wider western audience. Hua Chenyu re-arranged the original into a completely different song himself and made it into his own style., he is such a good composer, you should react to his original songs..and his vocal ability is superb...hardly any singer can sing in operatic vocal, rock, rap, traditional opera... no one basically :-)

Ich beschäftige mich schon seit 1,5 Jahren mit Hua Chenyu und habe bis jetzt fast alles gesehen und gehört, was er gemacht hat. Ich bin 73 Jahre alt und habe in meinem Leben schon viel Musik gehört, aber keine hat mich so sehr angesprochen, wie die von Hua Chenyu. Für mich und sicher auch für viele andere ist er der beste Musiker, Performer und Künstler der letzten Jahre weltweit. Er hat 2013 den Gesangswettbewerb "Superboy" gewonnen. Schon da hat man gemerkt, er ist etwas besonderes. Ich muß ihn jeden Tag hören, sonst fehlt mir an dem Tag etwas. Solche Songs wie "Fake Monk", "Friend", "Dad I`m home" usw. muß man einfach gehört haben. Seine Songs bei "Singer 2020", die er fast alle selbst komponiert hat sind einfach genial und perfekt. Was mich stört ist, dass Europa und besonders Deutschland überhaupt keine Notiz von diesem hervorragenden Künstler nimmt. Wenn ich meinen Ferseher anmache und immer nur die gleichen alten Gesichter im musikalischen Bereich sehe, wundert es mich nicht, wenn die jungen Leute sagen "Fernsehen interessiert mich nicht". Yes, this is cover, the orginal song "Nunchucks" came out in 2001 by Jay Chou, he is Taiwanese, very famous in Asia(was? ha), i think maybe you can watch Jay Chou's Nunchucks, and also recommend you Jay Chou's songs "In the name of the father", "Fearless"

Even if it is not the first time anyone is listening to the song "Nunchucks," they probably won't recognise it. The original song from Jay Chou was a straight-up hip-hop rap, but it held the piano melody in the middle - the part where Hua-Hua did his air piano. I love Hua Chenyu's cover so much that I totally forgot how the original sounded like. Nunchucks was the song that brought me deep into the Martian world of Hua-Hua.

Welcome to Hua Hua World! No one calls him "Chenyu". No one will know who you're talking about. I watched this show when it originally aired back in 2018. ALL of the contestants were great talents. Jesse won and Hua Hua came in 2nd. I don't think KZ placed but did a good job.

Jessie, sorry I know absolutely nothing about her I'm from the Beatles/Doors era, was the winner. How? Only the channel knows. I started watching for Dimash, then have been overwhelmed by HuaHua. Still love Dimash, but for an incredible performance, it's Hua Chenyu! Came to all this from watching Marcelito. So cool!! Glad you enjoyed, there are about 40 groups online for HuaHua. Maybe more. Great fun to listen to anything with his philosophy or music training. He can really get into that. Expands your mind!!

You should watch mad house

KZ is not yet famous but joining any competition is a stepping stone to gain recognition and to tell to other countries that filipinos have something to show around the globe our singing, dancing, and any art skill talent. This is how Filipinos do. The contenders from China had been joining this contest many times but can't get the main title........grand winner. It always won from another country. This singer said in his comment "He want to win the grand winner." , but Jessie got the grand trophy. Mostly the Chinese singers sings high pitch included Jessie J. , but no liked KZ way of singing. Her singing is closed enough from the 60s to 80/90's. Not this "screaming" I may call it. A very good singer is not about having the highest pitch but to bring anyone the full meaning what the song is all about and much clearer to understand in every word..... somewhat telling story.
