Crazy was written by Willie Nelson. Willie just turned 90 years old today (April 29). Happy Birthday, Willie.

She died in a tragic accident. One of the purest voices you will ever hear. No overdubs....just a magnificent voice. A talent for the ages.

Don't listen to her when you are heartbroken, you may not make it thru. Greatest voice ever.

She is the female singer that all other female singers are compared to, even today. She was perfection.

This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "Walkin' After Midnight", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". "Home Free" does a great cover of "Crazy".

As old as I am the beauty of watching young people seeing how great music was. No filters, No autotuned.

Patsy was gorgeous in so many ways. Her facial beauty was jeopardized by a very bad car crash which scarred her forehead. She responded by growing out her bangs and continued to show how beautiful she was despite the blemish. Her own woman, she was way ahead of her time as a recording artist, a wife, and a woman. Oh, the great music we missed out on when her early death snuffed out her bright flame.

The song was written by Willie Nelson. He was primarily a songwriter then. The demo that he recorded for Patsy to consider was much more snappy and up-tempo. Patsy decided to slow it down to a ballad and damn if she didn't kill it. Sweet Dreams and She's got you are two others that you need to hear. Loving your reactions.

Patsy designed most of her dresses, and her mother, Hilda, made them for her. EDIT: Patsy is considered "Nashville Sound" brand of country. Later known as "Countrypolitan." Her producer, Owen Bradley, who was a jazz musician himself, crafted this arrangement. Willie Nelson's original demo was straight up honky-tonk country. Also, the group singing backup with Patsy is The Jordanaires. They sang backup on most of Patsy's biggest hits.

Oooh, I love this era. The era when singers really earned their bread. I mean, the first few lines and you know you're witnessing something outstanding. All these guys and girls were so good they could just blow you away a capella, let alone with an arrangement like this. This is music for my ears.

The two most hauntingly beautiful and purest female vocalists ever is patsy Cline and Karen Carpenter IMO. Unfortunately, both these women had a sad and tragic endings. Gone but never forgotten.

My favorite Patsy Cline song is "He Called Me Baby," it is a beautiful, sexy song! You should listen to that one for sure. As for the writer of the song, Willie Nelson, my favorite songs he sings are three songs he did with Waylon Jennings, "Luckenbach, Texas," "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys," and "Good Hearted Woman." Everything she did was good, "Walking After Midnight" is one of my favorites. I was around when these were first released. This was everyday American music in the mid to late 1950s. She was known as a country western singer, but this could be considered typical popular music of that era, it was on most any radio station that played pop music. It is sad, what has happened to music in this country. We had all kinds of wonderful music that we took for granted, thank God for RU-vid. I hope more of today's generation get exposed to music of previous decades.

Hi Britt, Willie Nelson actually wrote this song and Patsy recorded it her way and it was a hit. She is one of the female icons of her time. If you want to hear another good version of this song Home Free does it also. Home Free - Crazy. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I think sultry and seductive are a couple other good words to describe her version.

This was 1961 my generation I was born in 1949. Patsy's marriage was bad from an abusive husband. That helps understand the song better. I grew up listening to her then she died in that plane crash.

I always refered to her voice as "beautifully haunting" There is simply no voice to compare to her genuine feeling of every single song shes sings. I was so sad that her life was so short because the world would have been a better place with much more of her contribution to music...at least we have it eternally recorded for what she gave us. Just think what else she could have done had her life not ended so abruptly. She is one of a kind and will never be replicated.

My favorite Patsy Cline songs is Walking After Midnight. It's kind of a sad song but it really does show a ranger of her vocal talents. Sadly she died young in a plane crash in the 1960's. If you watch the movie Sweet Dreams that is the story of Patsy Cline's life. If you'd like another artist to listen to that kind of in the same genre of Patsy Cline there's also the singer Loretta Lynn who recently lost last year.

Patsy Cline really made you feel what she was singing about. That pure tone of her voice, the breath control, that little yodely catch in her voice, and the ability to control pitch and volume is just amazing. I hadn't heard this song for many years and listened to it one day. I must have been in just the right mood because suddenly I was all waterworks. No autotune, just pure talent!

Patsy is one of my all time favorites with so many great songs. Even though she is a contemporary of the early rock-n-roll music scene, she takes me to the time where country ballads were popular, just before rock-n-roll really started dominating pop music.

The late great Patsy Cline! Yes she was a snappy dresser. She grew up dirt poor in West Virginia and quite school to so go to work to help her mother support her younger siblings. She died at 29 in a plane crash. Leaving behind her beloved her mother , husband and 2 babies. Such a loss for the music world. Try her other hits "I Fall To Pieces" "Sweet Dreams" "Faded Love" there is a movie about her life called Sweet Dreams after the hit song starring Jessica Lange

You just witnessed a true legend in the Country genre. Another brilliant vocalist taken too soon. In her brief career she had so many hit songs! I suggest Sweet Dreams for your next listen. The musical swell in the intro will leave you breathless and in awe, then the remainder of the song is flawless. Exquisite!!!

Patsy was already a star when Loretta Lynn hit Nashville. Patsy was Loretta's favorite singer and Loretta would sing Patsy's songs on live radio shows. Patsy had a bad car crash and was in the hospital and heard Loretta on the radio. She called for Loretta to come see her in the hospital and Patsy told Loretta she sang her songs better and that Loretta would be a star. They became best friends and Patsy had Loretta touring with her. Loretta was devastated when Patsy died.

Patsy Cline was from here in Winchester, Virginia. She was considered a country music singer but I just think she was a phenomenally talented singer PERIOD. She is buried about a mile from my house and the house she and her mother lived in is right here in town. Patsy was a woman before her time...strong, independent and fierce. The song "Crazy" was actually written by Willie Nelson. Patsy endured a lot on her short life but she fought back and paid no mind to those who doubted her.

Great reaction the late fifties and early sixties (pre Beatles) were a great time for vocalists. One of my favorite from this era is Nat King Cole, I would suggest "Ramblin' Rose", now a days about all people remember him for is "The Christmas Song" (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...". He wasn't country, more Rhythm and Blues, his smooth voice was unmatched just as Patsy voice was.

When Loretta Lynn was starting her career, she and Pasty were good friends and did some shows together. And Willie Nelson was the writer of this song and also preformed it later on in life during his career on an album. Loved hearing this again after hearing it in the 60's over the radio and live on stage.

Patsy felt every song she sang. She has a cry in her voice. A few songs you can hear her actually crying as she's singing. "Faded Love" & "Sweet Dreams". Loretta Lynn & Patsy Cline were best friends. Patsy is who other female singers( especially in country) strive to be like. Patsy had a short career. But over 65 yrs later fans are still listening & discovering her wonderful voice. I was only 2 1/2 when she died. There are 3 singers l wish l could of seen live in person......Patsy Cline, Judy Garland & Doris Day. If only l had a time machine......

This is super old school country and she was one of the most important voices not even in traditional country but just in general for that time. She's one of the most gifted alto singers ever I believe. And the song was written for her by a young Willie Nelson, Willie Nelson the red headed stranger and the country Outlaw with the long red hair in the braids. I love his chord progression on this and she knocked it out of the ballpark. This is a huge hit at the time and I still hear people covering it and singing it at shows. It definitely has that kind of smoky lounge jazz feeling to it for sure.

Everything Patsy did is pure gold. She died almost exactly 6 months before I was born. I used to drive by a monument to her outside of Winchester Virginia when I was driving from Norfolk Virginia to my home in Ohio when I was in the Navy.
