Walsh had a reputation for being a rock wildman, and he said, "The most dangerous thing that ever happened to me, was that Keith Moon decided he liked me!". About his time in The Eagles, Joe Walsh said his "job" was to "give their music a needed kick-in-the-ass!" He took Eagles easy-feel and gave them a bit more fire and danger. You can also hear that intensity in "Rocky Mountain Way", how Joe's guitar keeps "pushing" the song, pushing the jam. Walsh is also very funny. check out his "Lifes Been Good to me So Far", very funny lyrics, great guitar!

Joe working the talk box 3yrs before Frampton hit big using one. Joe - 1973 , Frampton - 1976. Joe's had a really great career , always entertaining.

Joe Walsh, early in his career, was in a Rock band named The James Gang. They had a couple of modest hits before the “power trio” broke up in 1972; “Walk Away” and “Funk #49”. The James Gang went to West Germany in 1970, and did TV performances of both songs on the West German Tock music program, “Beat Club”. Those rare TV performances are available for viewing here on RU-vid.

I can't find the exact quote now, but Eagles drummer Don Henley once said of Walsh something along the lines of, "He's the strangest bunch of guys I've ever met." I believe him.

It’s not as popular as some of his songs but “The Confessor” is one of my favorite songs of all the different times in the career of Joe Walsh. Give it a listen it will leave you thinking.

My favorite rock history fact is that Jimmy Page’s famous Les Paul was Joe Walsh’s “backup”. So now the guitar Joe Walsh got out from under his bed and sold him is worth 20 million or whatever. Joe’s “better sounding” guitar would be worth like a million.

Joe Walsh is one of those artists that you kind of "know" but "don't know". Meaning that it is kind of easy to forget about him as he kind of slides into the background of Rock-N-Roll over all. BUT..... when you hear one of his tracks, you KNOW his voice and playing style right away. And it is that voice and style that constantly reminds you that he has been out front all along. Just look at his body of work, number 1 hits as a band member, solo act, AND as one of the most legendary (iconic) bands ever "The Eagles", all while getting love and his props from his "musical peers" that mostly enjoy his style due to how NATURAL he makes it sound.

For those wondering, Joe was FAMOUS for using the combination of "rock chords" on the guitar, but being played with a traditional blues "slide" technique..... and on this track, using the "talk box" to add the scratchy "reverb" to his musical notes. Yes, that is the guitar playing, but the sound is pumped through a tube that Joe had in his mouth to add the "echo reverb" of using his mouth, changing tones and pitch with his lips and how open his jaw was.

Don't where where your info comes from, but he is most known for James Gang, one of the best bands of the era. He was friends of theirs, and helped them out when they needed him. The Eagles was actually later in his stellar career.

This song came out in the 1960'S, a Loomg tiime beforee Joe Dirt, I just downloaded the sound track to Joe Dirt, Joe Walsh didn't sing a song on that movie, now th eJames Gang did, and have a similar sound.
