This performance is pretty all over the place but the song is still good. Didn't expect that many sour notes or missed parts, the studio version has pampered me too long I guess

They were definately having fun with the song live. I think it's worth listening to the studio version too, though.

That part you were questioning was the "William Tell Overture" composed by Gioachino Rossini. It was later adapted for the theme from the "Lone Ranger" tv show. And no, it is not part of the song normally. Joe is known to frequently change lyrics and even musical parts, especially on songs he wrote. For example, when he did this song with the Eagles, he changed one of the lyrics to "I'm making records, my fans they can't wait, they write Tim letters, tell Glenn Don's great", referring to his other Eagles bandmates.

I hadn't seen/heard this specific version - he's a funny dude. Changed up almost everything, just enough.

He was famous and very respected long before he joined his buddies in the Eagles. His best stuff was with the power trio 'James Gang'.

Sweet! Thanks for sharing! Been a long while since I've seen it. Still prefer the original studio version for sure. Can't crank it up enough when in the car!

Yeah, Stevie went with Joe...it didn't end very well lol. She wrote 2 songs about him. She also went with Don Henley...Stevie had many beaus, as it were 🫢 Joe's quite a character. If you heard the studio version, you'd probably hear that touch of reggae in there.

That trumpet segment was from “The William Tell Overture”, by Rossini. It was used as the theme music for “The Lone Ranger” on ABC Radio and ABC Television. The TV series aired between 1949 and 1957. It was ABC’s most successful TV series, and kept the doors open at the network when they had trouble attracting advertisers due to low TV ratings on the rest of their shows. Only when DuMont ceased national network broadcasting in 1955, did ABC start to make money.

When Joe was with the James Gang he would climb up the speaker towers and do backflips off them lol. He was quite the showman. Treat yourself to a fabulous classic and react to The Bomber. One of James Gang’s finest.

Hadn’t seen this one before. Never the same thing twice with Joe Walsh! Don Henley once said that “Joe is an interesting bunch of guys”! He’s a great guitarist and an excellent entertainer . If you want the full spectrum of Joe Walsh, you could go from the James gang Funk #49 to the Eagles “One Day at a Time” which Joe wrote about living after becoming sober.

Joe has fun. He's basically jamming to the song - having fun so he won't get bored from playing it over and over. The album version is a lot straighter, and fun, just not as much fun.

Musicians & actors buy huge houses for tax purposes & investments. Also with the big houses its easier to put fences up and have better security to keep their life somewhat private.

Studio version is much better. If you do it get the "wah wah" version. There's quite a lag before the "wah wahs" start, so be patient and don't end too soon.

Stevie Nicks also wanted to join Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. I think she and TP were a couple, see their video for "Stop Dragging My Heart Around". The band wanted to stay all male, to reduce drama I'm sure.

The reaggae feel is lost in this live version. You'll hear it it better in the studio version , also there is no horn section on the studio version.

I wish you would listen to a studio version first, that's what most people know and love. The live stuff tends to deviate, sometimes a little but sometimes more than you'd like.

Wrong Video to watch .. This was when he was knee deep into the drugs which screwed him up. This is so sloppy wrong lyrics here and there and some major timing issues . Joe was trying to keep up off and on.. One of the sloppiest live performances . His drug use really screwed him up in later years.. Damn so many wrong lyrics. This is weakest version of this SONG I've ever heard.. This guy here boppin his head and has no MUSICAL clue...AND JOE WAS QUIT THE SCREW UP.. WHAT HAPPENED WITH NICKS IS THAT JOE HAD TO GET OFF THE COKE OR WAS GOING TO DIE. HE HAD TO GET AWAY AND NICKS COKE HABBIT WENT ON FOR DECADES. I ALSO AGREE WITH SOME OF THE OTHER COMMENTERS ABOUT IT BEING ALL OVER THE P.ACE... LISTEN TO IT CAREFULLY YOU MIGHT GET THE RAGGAE FEEL. WE AREN'T BEING MEAN, LIKE ME FOR EXAMPLE AM A MUSICIAN OF 41 YEARS , A HIRED GUN WHO HAD TOURED ALL OVER THE WORLD AND A SESSION PLAYER FOR A LONG TIME. WE JUST CORRECT WHAT YOU LACK IN MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE THATS ALL.....
@scottstewart5784
@scottstewart5784 6 месяцев назад
This is his first time hearing the song, so he has nothing to compare it to. Also, he's not a musician, doesn't claim to be - he's simply a dude reacting to a loose, live performance, so his lack of critique of Joe's timing and missed lyrics is natural. Your comment contains helpful information, but unfortunately it's wrapped in unwarranted criticism, condescension, and humble bragging. And SHOUTING. Perhaps you could share your professional musical contributions without the drama.
