Joe Walsh came way before SRV. Walsh was in the James Gang and solo before joining the Eagles way back in the 70s. He's very underrated. He also has a really great sense of humor.

This is not as good as he was...he was still drinking then. I met the man, after he got sober, a real sweetheart. I was 15 and in the hospital, after a leg amputation. He signed an autograph for me, and 5 more for my siblings!

Joe is a great guitarist. You have to know back then in his drinking and drug days it would have been damn near impossible for most people just to stand up without staggering or falling down and he was up there playing the way he did. An absolute great

Joe Walsh came before Prince and SRV. He was in the James Gang in the 60s and 70s. He joined the Eagles in 1975 before going solo. He's 72 years old. Hes a great one.

Joe Walsh had his first commercial success with The James Gang in 1968.🔥 Stevie Ray was 14 and still playing the drums in his brother Jimmy's band! 😁 Joe Walsh has been playing the guitar for over 50 years with the James Gang, Barnstorm, the Eagles, and as a solo artist. But you are right about SRV's(RIP😢💔) skill, he's #12 on the Rolling Stone's greatest guitarists of all time list, Joe Walsh is #54.🤯❤️✌️

Joe is older than Stevie Ray Vaughn, he also played for The Eagles after his great solo career, this is early 1970s. Joe played a solo on Hotel California with Don Felder and they were dealing on that for that song. Joe is no slouch on guitar, that a tube in his mouth along with the guitar.

Joe Walsh was famous WAY BEFORE SRV or Prince had even picked up a guitar. He was famous with the James Gang back in the 60's and played at Woodstock. If anything those 2 probably picked up some guitar licks by watching Joe.

Joe Walsh has been recording music since the late sixties. SRV and Prince would have learned from him. The great Chet Atkins was a guitar mentor to Joe Walsh...Try his music from his days with The James Gang....What Walsh is using during the song is called a Talk Box. It was very popular with guitarists in the 1970's. It was first introduced by Jeff Beck but it was made famous by Peter Frampton...Joe Perry used a Talk Box for the song, Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith...

The sound is coming from whats called a talkbox. Check it out. It mixes the guitar amp sounds into the mic and you play. I have one. Its fun. Joe was one of the first to try ot on this song.

Joe released this song in 1973 off of his solo album "The smoker you drink,the player you get"He is great with the Eagles but even better on his solo albums. "But Seriously Folks" is another incredible album of his.He is one of the greatest rock guitar players of all time.

Joe Walsh is basically a perpetual comedian who happens to be one of the greatest guitarists (he's no SRV - but then again, nobody is!...) and songwriters in rock and roll history. Joe pre-dates SRV by about 15 years, and he's the one who turned the (famous band) Eagles from (essentially) a country band to a rock band when he joined them in the mid '70s. The thing he's got in his mouth is called a talk box (which, at one point, he claimed to have invented - maybe?... maybe not?... but that's Joe and his humor!...) He also wrote and sang the best-ever rock satire song: "Life's Been Good" - listen to the studio version (the lyrics are great and very humorous). BTW: His concerts are LOUD AS F*CK!!! (I bore witness to that.)

Who was first. Well, Joe is from the '60's so, so yeah he's old. The tube thing in his mouth was, at the time called a vocoder or talkbox. It allowed the sound of his guitar, via a separate speaker attached to the other end of the tube to play in his mouth where his speech and mouth movements alters it before his mic picks it up.
