Bungou means "poetry", every character in the series is named after an author and every ability is named after a book/work of the author. Stray dogs as in the characters are a ragtag bunch with each of them having different complex backstories usually involving crime. The series is pretty darn good. The first season had pacing issues but it got good towards the end. Starting from the first episode of the second season however it got reaaaly good. I like the characters the author tries to give all of them a spotlight and tries to develop all of their personalities over the course of the series. I like the overall aesthethic of the show its very noir like. Ironically the action is the weakest link as it almost always boils down to who has the stronger ability.I'd definitely recommend the series for its characters, plot and stellar animation but not for its action
if you're ever up for reacting to more the endings for this show are really good too, especially when you google the lyric translations because they're so SAD 😭
I will say something about the anime itself and then to the openings reacting to your comments: Bungo means master of literature and the "Stray Dogs" stands methaphoric for people with no proper goal and direction in their lives, the most is mostly about orphans who struggle with their past and try to protect Yokohama. There are 2 rivaling groups: The ADA (Armed detective Agency) and the PM (Port Mafia/The people in black). Almost everyone has a skill(superpower) in these groups. Most of the characters are based of japanese and international authors. It's one of my favorite animes because it's more mature and darker. It gets better with every season, which is also very rare. 1st Season: Character introduction and goofy jokes mixed with dark incidents 2nd Season: Yes, darker. A new group from america entering the city. The floating thing is a whale ;) - you are right the 2 characters walking next to each other symbolize a rivalty/partnership. 3rd Season: More dark scenes. A new cruel villain - the scenes are mostly places from the Movie before the season which took place in the night. 4th Season: Yes, brighter: More action-focused - but the first 4 episodes were made in black/white. There is also a new trailer for season 5 if you wanna check it out. But i can recommend the ENDINGS to you very much, they are considered even better than the openings. Also, the Dead Apple Movie has a long great opening too - maybe you would like to combine it with the endings for a video?

Bungo Stray Dogs is conceptually a pretty fascinating anime, especially since most of the characters are named (based) off of real life novelists and poets and their abilities are named after their famous works. It’s a pretty solid series. It can be a pretty dark anime, but it has its fair share of goofy and heartwarming moments as well.
