Straykids is known for their unique sound, they often blend in random sounds even from animals, and most of their well known tracks are very noisy. Case 143 it’s about the fight that goes inside between the heart and the brain when we fall in love. They dressed so colourful it’s the heart, and them dressed as police is the brain. The police comes to investigate the new feelings, and they treat it like a crime case. Therefore Case 143. The hotel, carpet and many more are references from an old horror movie. 😂 The little plushies are the emotions. Watch it again knowing all this, and it will make more sense. ❤

i love how stray kids' songs are almost always about something really deep and meaningful and that they're always able to turn them into really catchy lyrics that can be understood in many different ways eg. venom is about stockholm syndrome (where someone forms a phycological bond and affection towards their captor, abuser or abductor), but it can also be understood as a toxic relationship/situation, or addiction their lyrics are either that or a diss track to their antis (cheese, topline, domino, i got it are my favourite examples of this haha)

Great reaction! They have many songs with powerful lyrics. I love that about their music. Also, Stray Kids will often leave the meaning of a song to interpretation so that more people can relate to it. They might have the mv depict a certain theme, but it’s not the only way to interpret the song itself.

*I want to talk about stray kids love for STAY*, as a multi fan stanning 5+ groups + being a regular to 10+ groups , Straykids definitely have the deepest and most beautiful bond with their fandom, right most groups have real love for their fans, but skz take the love to another level; - They are sooo many songs made for stay at least one in every album, like ALOT, even one of the songs being called #lovestay - Some skz members + stayville would probably not be alive if it wasn’t for this (chan said in one of his lives that he probably wouldn’t be on earth if it wasn’t for skz and stay) - They literally have a week every year there they post every day and end it with a bday live and song for stay on our birthday - If you watch their lives you will realise that the members love helping out stay, the fans ask questions about their mental health and they answer - Then skz didn’t have their personal ig, they had their own hashtags, and hyunjin’s hashtag was #lovestay (he is also called stays biggest fan and lovestay boy) - Lee know that have a very hard time to express his emotions, in the last concert talked about his emotions and nearly cried(this shows his very deep trust for stay ((he haven’t cried on cam since the survival show years ago) - Changbin also last concert said ‘I don’t have a home, stay is my home’ - Then it’s the truly small things that straykids don’t have to do but still does, like hyunjin going live to inform stay that he broke a tooth or that he brought the plushies he wanted, chan’s movie nights on bubble (app where you can text the fans for a amount of money), straykids in general checking in on bubble to ask how we are doing and giving mental health tips - You can just see if you watch how much SKZ love to spoil STAY, with skz records and extra stuff nearly dropping every day (jyp asked if they wanted to take a pause but skz said no) - Then hyunjin was on hiatus for his scandal he walked up to a mountain and stared at a lamp imagining stay - Straykids makes songs about mental health to make the ‘straykids’ out in the world not feel alone, bcz once they where also like that - Chan used to do chans room every week checking up with stay until he could’t bcz a scandal between toxic fans and IVE - You’ll always hear for them how straykids and stayville was the best thing happening for them - There was this one concert or show I don't know what to call it, where people got hurt because they were pushing and shoving at one of stray kids concerts. They kept telling the crowd to move back and make way for the hurt because they didn't want them to get hurt anymore. I think I told you in the last video but ‘stray kids everywhere all around the world’ and the meaning behind it - Stay literally means if you take out ‘R’ from Stray so that's the Reason stray kids exist - Lee know often does lives in his car on his way to mc or different events showing his love for stay and wanting to interact even in stressful moments - Straykids always trying to speak english especially chan and felix for international fans - Many fans see straykids as their biggest comfort and always being there for them, their vibe around them is just overflowing love - Let’s talk about stay, if you aren’t part of the fandom you probably think stays are toxic, but it’s truly not that many toxic fans in our fandom they are just loud. Most stays are like a mini version of stay, I have met so many friends since becoming part of this fandom including my bsf. I remember a tweet abt a stay who was travelling to skz in korea for a concert and started crying a stay came up to her and hugged her calming her down, stay’s love for skz is also very deep unexplainable deep, straykids gets alot of hate and are struggling alot ( TW most members being insecure about their looks, chan overworking himself , felix struggling with eating, hyunjin feeling scared of not being accepted, lee know being called mean, jeongin getting forgotten, han with extreme social anxiety, changbin hated for being 'fat', seungmin hating his smile and skz in general getting so much hate atm) stays are so good at comforting them and trying the hardest to make them feel loved - And Felix who said he wanted stay to see them as a long distance friend Some things skz have said to stay (mostly from bubble); - ‘I don’t know if it’s because I’m so happy, but if you're going through something difficult I want you to find a path to make you happy. Let’s be happy and live together for a long, long time - hyunjin’ - ‘If you have anything negative, any worries, thoughts, just for 5 minutes, cry, scream, hit a pillow, scribble, rip up paper - felix’ - ‘Now that I have , I’m not lonely anymore, thank you for being my happiness. Or sometimes on Hyunjin's counseling vlives, he'll express how he finds it sweet that Stays reply to each other's concerns and try to help each other. I think even the fact that some members go on vlive very frequently shows that they love their fans. They aren't being forced to do these vlives, if they don't want to they won't, but they do because they want to talk with STAY. If you want to try exploring their different sounds and topics i recommend listening to songs like secret secret, scars, there, ex, slump, i am you, and 3rd eye. Some of my favorite upbeat/pop songs they have are chill (the lyrics are not upbeat but the sound is), blueprint, airplane, tmt (also has a contrasting sound to lyrics), and spread my wings.
Fun fact provider : For the "Case 143" M/V there can be a parallelisation with their labelmates TWICE Japanese M/V "BDZ" from 2018 where they are on a mission to save "Love" in the world depicted as imprisoned little creatures called "Lovelys". Someone can say that releasing "Lovelys" from captivity back then resulted them in evolving into these hairy creatures that wreck havoc and their "younger brothers" SKZ have to clean the mess up. As a song I believe it serves its purpose of showcasing a different vibe from the group which is refreshing. Venom is a banger and really underappreciated. That weird sound seems familiar but I can't put my finger on where from exactly. My best bet would be something like late 2000's UK scene. I'm getting old and some things just slip my mind. Really like that you watch it twice to focus on the lyrics 😊 Case 143 was actually the only time they did a love song for a title track but they still added their own colors and made it weird and unique (in a good way). Venom is the first track of the album Oddinary (wordplay of odd + ordinary) where Maniac is the title track and I think you can actually hear it bc of the "weird" beats both songs have 😄 I definitely recommend their MAMA 2022 performance of these two songs! Oh and the two members in the rap part after the first chorus were Hyunjin (longer blonde hair) and Han (who had a gun pointed at him). For song recommendations, definitely do Thunderous (can't believe I didn't see it suggested more)! It's noisy and a clapback at haters and one of my fave Stray Kids songs. It's one of the big title tracks you haven't watched yet (God's Menu blew up their popularity in 2020, after that came Back Door (2020), then Thunderous (2021), Maniac (2023), Case 143 (2022) and S-Class (2023)). Also looking forward to the guide reaction 🤗 But don't stress yourself! (And btw they will release a new album called 樂-STAR (= Rock-Star) on November 10 👀)

I've been really loving your SKZ journey and looking forward to watching your deep dive. I love that you're appreciating our devil bunny Lee Know, his voice, dance skills and visuals are *chefs kiss, but he tends to get a bit overlooked at first by Baby Stays. And also Han, the rapper you liked that had the gun to his head in Venom. He is our SKZ ACE (and arguably 4th Gen ACE). He is one of the top rappers in KPop (along with Changbin) but is also a beautiful vocalist, amazing dancer and genius lyricist/producer. Lee Know and Hannie are my biases but like most STAY I love them all to bits.
Can’t wait to see what happens when you see how they change & switch up their songs for their amazing live performances (which they always do because hey, they write and produce it all anyway!) 😂

Remember to finish it off by saying "I'm normal" and presto, it's normal! Too bad you didn't enjoy Cassie (Case 143) that much. It's their first official love song but actually it's not- it's about someone getting overwhelmed and unable to handle their feelings, in this case love. And they have no clue how to go about it so logic (the police) fights the emotions (heart gang + cute Stray Kids) and logic wins, until Seungmin dislikes that outcome and happily rewinds to a better end where they break out of the small narrative of either/or into uncharted territory. I love many of their songs but my favourite is Venom, Freeze, Cheese, 3racha, Megaverse and easy so far.... Double Knot, Maniac, God's Menu and the newest songs are also fire... I don't know... Your analysis of Venom, it being about a toxic relationship you can't leave but not about a specific person and rather an activity, makes me wonder if they maybe wrote this song about being under the JYP label. Saying they're a bit trapped because they're gaining popularity and momentum so they kind of need the toxic company in order to keep growing. I admit I hadn't looked into the translated lyrics before this video but that seems to make a lot of sense from what I've learned about their company and experience. I'm now curious if the Handsome Sausages channel has reacted to this song before to explain any lyrical word play that may be happening from a Korean perspective. SKZ frequently and consciously chooses specific Korean words that don't always translate perfectly to English, or might simply be missed by non-korean speakers, because there is a lot of connotation with Korean words that can be lost to direct translation. For example: in English we use the phrase "I love you" across multiple kinds of love (platonic, romatic, familial, deep, shallow, all kinds of "love") but in Korean they have different and specific words for the different kinds of love. So, if SKZ sing about love in Korean and purposely choosing a specific love word, that might get lost in translation to English if the English speaker doesn't know or understand the connotation of the specific Korean word being translated. I highly recommend the Handsome Sausages channel to all Stay (especially non-Koreans and those with limited music theory knowledge) who want to understand a bit more about whatmight be going on in certain songs. Theirmearlier music plays A LOT with very specific Korean tradition and experiences that get lost in translation without context of the lived cultural experiences.

He is a pro editor for like Justin Bibber and many other western artists and he usually reacts to k-pop M/Vs. He of course talks about editing, but also he analyses them and me one, I understood soo much better Stray Kids' M/Vs . And Jordan is so nice and funny to watch. Skz lore is so deep, complicated, sad and beautiful in the same time. I get so many times brain damaged trying to analyse and observe every detail.
