I think they walked the line between stalker and flirting with someone perfectly. People are okay with him being a little bit of a stalker because he wasnt a "creepy" stalker if that makes sense. He didnt follow her around and hide so she wouldnt notice. Cause that would be scary, someone following you and you wouldnt know. Someone just coming up to you a couple of times would be annoying, but not very scary. And what would also be scary is him not letting her walk away whenever she rejected him. I think that is what people are scared of nowadays and why they might not like this "stalker" aspect. In real life you hear a lot of stories of women being uncomfortable by guys "flirting", because at that point they just wont leave the woman alone after being rejected multiple times. And sometimes guys get more forward and agressive. While Heath Ledgers character let her go after being rejected and never got agressive or touchy, he just tried to get her to like him and impress her. Which is different from being creepy and stalkery, at least in my opinion

The cockblocking actually does a lot of sense. There were phases where my baby sister and me didn't have the best relationship. But I'd still would have tried to protect her from any asshole who just wanted to get into her pants. In this movie, Bianca is easily impressed while Kat has been desillusioned for a long time. Kat doesn't understand Bianca but doesn't mean that Kat doesn't care about Bianca's wellbeing. Her personal history with Joey just adds to it.

This was based off of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. The characters, Kathrine (Kat), Bianca and Verona are taken directly from the play as well as the main plot. (Older sister is a shrewd woman who won't marry and her younger sister can't marry until she does. Verona is paid to woo/marry Kat so Bianca can marry also.) There is also a Broadway musical, Kiss Me Kate, that is also a modern adaption of Shakespeare's original work. No matter what version, it's an out dated concept now.

I can't even tell how many times I've seen this movie over the past 21 years and I'm JUST now noticing Kat wore the mom's pearls to the prom.

Parts of this movie was actually shot in Washington state at a local high school in Tacoma. About 30 min South of Seattle (where Starbucks got its start). Parts were also shot in Seattle at Gasworks park. And the troll sculpture under the bridge is actually located in the Seattle Fremont neighborhood. I am born and raised in Washington. Lol

I loved watching you react to this movie. I loved it before I even truly fell in love with Heath Ledger, embarrassingly enough. The one that made me totally fall in love with him was Casanova, which was a few years later, though I enjoyed him as an actor overall. But for this one, it was the spin on Taming of the Shrew that was interesting to me, as I loved Shakespeare since I was a kid. I actually watched it for the first time for Julia Stiles, who I also liked back in the day. And after Heath passed away, it took me a long time before I could watch this movie without crying, especially when he sang and danced on the bleachers. It’s still one of my very favorite movies though, and watching you react to it brought back good memories, as well as some laughs. Thanks for that. 😁

I really hope you do the movie Armageddon. You love the Aerosmith soundtrack song to it I don't want to miss a thing. The movie has a lot of big name people in it. Bruce Willis, Ben Afflec, and Liv Tyler which is the lead singer of Aerosmith (Steven Tyler's) daughter. Just to name a few of the big names. You would love it Billy. I loved this 10 things reaction. This was filmed not too far from where I live. In fact, my cousin went to the High School where it was filmed. My doctors office is down the street from the house & school. This is a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew”.

Two movies to suggest: LITTLE Big Man. And: I Will Fight No More Forever. The first is a comedy, the second a true story.

The 2000s (and prior decades) really had some problematic tropes in romances (even in movies that aren't strictly romance but have a romantic pairing in it). You right. I loved this movie as a teen and didnt see how messed up it was but as an adult you really have to side eye the whole thing. It probably explains a lot of the issues we see in dating now that we're adults and have to explain to people about consent because we grew up seeing couples get together by one of them completely ignoring consent and boundaries until the other person gets worn down...usually because the aggressor is Hollywood pretty and charming.

This is before everyone had cell phones. If we were out, there was no getting a hold of you. I miss those days, actually. When we were out and about with our friends, gathering in places and looking for people is how you connected with them. It was also a smallish town. It's not hard to find people in a small town. Thats how wer met people back then. Face to face. It's sad that seeking out people you like is seen as stalkerish now. 🙄

Film facts from a Tacoma resident. The school is Stadium High School in Tacoma, Wa. Same high school Bing Crosby and my Grandma went to. The house in on North Side of Tacoma. The new owners painted it all white and took down the tree. (I was low key sad) The rest was filmed in Seattle.
