It shows he's not a stunt man; there's something totally REAL about Bruce's foolery, it hurts to watch, no namby-pamby safety rules here, whereas a real stuntman wouldn't have looked half as entertaining.

On the subject of Ash (from the movie, not Ashkan) going back in time and becoming a piece of mythology (or religion), you might have noticed earlier in the movie, when they were looking through the Necronomicon, one of the illustrations in the book actually depicted the last shot of the movie. It was an illustration of Ash with his shotgun and chainsaw-hand, standing reluctantly at the center of the crowd of medieval worshippers as they hailed him. So, yeah, Hannah was right. Having gone back in time, Ash became a part of mythology and we saw the evidence of it in the present-day book before we realized that it was an illustration of him.

You will LOVE Army of Darkness, and Ash vs Evil Dead (the series). Raimi also made a more "commercial" horror film called Drag Me to Hell you'll probably enjoy, and you'll notice that both Bruce Campbell AND the car Ash drives in this film in almost every Raimi film. The non-Raimi Evil Dead remakes/sequels are also solid, but they're not especially connected to these originals. You are now ready for Darkman, The Quick and the Dead, and a re-watch of the Spider-Man films, which of course, all feature Bruce Campbell and the car, as does Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. But if you want to see Raimi get "serious" when he was learning how to work with actors and make more commercial films, you'll also like A Simple Plan, For Love of the Game, The Gift, and Oz the Great and Powerful. For another great Campbell performance in a horror film, check out Bubba Ho-Tep and/or his work on American television (The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Jack of All Trades, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys/ Xena: Warrior Princess, and/or Burn Notice.

Show is real hit or miss for me. Some episodes are hilarious and evoke this film beautifully, some are kinda lame or actually detriment the 'lore'. One of the coolest things about these movies is when the camera becomes the demon/evil and chases/slaps Ash around, with the audience having no idea what ash is dealing with. The show 'revealing' this as an angry cloud of cg smoke- and naming it a 'smoker- is painful.

I really enjoy that you think it was difficult to cast Bruce Campbell. He was a childhood friend of Sam Raimi and was in the short film they put together to get funding for the original Evil Dead, and of course played Ash in the movie The Evil Dead (the 1981 version not the one you saw). Literally easiest casting of all time. That man, his eyebrows and his unbeatable chin were made for show business..

I have to admit that Army of Darkness is my personal favorite of the original Evil Dead movies. I still love Evil Dead II immensely, but AoD has a lot more of the slapstick/bumbling action hero elements that make Bruce Campbell such a joy to watch as Ash Williams.

Sam Raimi doesn't get more than 10% of the acknowledgement he deserves for influencing not only horror but the way action is shot. They always cite Spielberg or some other tired Hollywood hack.

The tv series is directly tied to the 1st film, with actors and characters FROM the 1st film, who aren't in the 2nd film. Whomever suggested that you skip the original movie did you wrong. Plus, for as much as some people call the 2nd film a remake, Bruce Campbell has an interview on youtube saying it isn't. The 2nd film's 10 minute recap of the first film wasn't meant to make it replace the original.... that's why it's called EVIL DEAD 2. Love both of you and hope you get time to watch the original.

I loved the flubbed intros being left in and how much Ash got the giggles on "the final one" that was being left in regardless. Amazing movies with an amazing protagonist. Also Bruce Campbell who plays Ash did all his stunts so that flip he did when his hand was beating him up was really him. Ed Boon was so close to actually putting Ash Williams in Mortal Kombat 11 but the deal never happened due to reasons we will probably never know.

The first Evil Dead was the first released movie by Sam Raimi and his pals, which included Bruce Campbell. This one moved into the horror comedy genre. The third, Army of Darkness, leans even more into the comedy. My favorite of this franchise is the Ash vs Evil Dead TV series, which features a much older Ash. If you like weird, crazy movies, check out Bubba Ho-tep. Bruce Campbell plays Elvis. That's all I'll say.

I keep going back and forth on that. "Army of Darkness" really notches up the humor to a slapstick level so, while I love it, I'm interested to see how Ash and Hannah react to the continually evolving tone of the series. All that being said, like you, ED2 is my favorite of the series. AoD was fun but ED2 struck the exact right balance of horror and comedy, imo.

Neat fact - Bruce Campbell is a childhood friend of the director Sam Rami. They all shared a house with the Coen Brothers - who both worked on this movie, with actress Francis McDormat. Evil Dead II, Hellraiser, Terminator, Childs Play, thats how i started this 😍. Please, when you watch Army of Darkness, the next one, just watch the regular theatrical cut with the ending that everyone loves. (There's seriously multiple Ash lines in the span of a couple minutes that everyone now quotes.) There's an alternate ending out there that - while interesting - just isn't as iconic. Also, I'm glad you both recognize just how unique and perfect Bruce Campbell is for the role. That's why I've never been a huge fan of the recent reboots. For me, this franchise was always *specifically* about Bruce Campbell as Ash. Without him, it's like making an Arnold movie without Arnold.

Guys, you need to watch Braindead by Peter Jackson (before he did the Lord Of The Rings trilogy). It's insanely over the top in the same way Evil Dead 2 is. Great reaction as always.

You're gonna love Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness. It's pure comedy gold. And for a more up to date adventure check out Ash vs Evil Dead series, it's truly epic.

After you watch army of darkness even if you can't post it to RU-vid you should watch Ash versus the evil Dead on your own time. It's got two seasons because sadly they canceled it but it's got just as much Ash Williams insanity as the movies do. By the way there is also a game that came out like last year that's kind of like the And I think on the old Xbox and PS2 era they had a few games. Evil Dead and the deadites which are the demon zombies I guess you can call them are just peak insanity.

This was when Evil Dead became a horror comedy bringing Bruce Campbell’s acting prowess and this is one of the few franchises that perfected the horror comedy genre for its time but I’m glad for Evil Dead 2015 and Evil Dead Rise for returning to the originals roots of the 1981 version. fun fact: did you know that the scene when Ash’s hand becomes possessed and starts smashing plates on his head, flipping and slammed him into the ground was all Bruce Campbell’s unscripted idea that the director Sam Raimi was so impressed with it that it was all done in one take.

You need to that watch Evil Dead the 1982 version and compare that to the sequel and to the one in 2013 to see how you feel about it from that point on. Also u should definitely also watch Army of Darkness which is the 3rd Evil Dead of the series.

This is my favorite franchise, bar none. 2 fun facts, Henrietta was played by Ted Rami, the directors brother. The knight at the end who said, hail he, who fell from the sky.... was Sam Rami the director. Drugs? First time I saw this I'd taken 25 ephradins, and was just walking around downtown, when I saw this playing at a theater, and thought, this looks interesting. 😄
