28:15 “what was it about harry “ so Neville was born a day before Harry was, and as nevilles parents were part of the Order of the Phoenix they had defied Voldemort which meant he fit the description of the prophecy. Voldemort assumed it was harry and his parents though, not neville. which is why snape says “yes be he thinks its her son” thinking he was the chosen one. Also, Voldemort had not heard the second half of the prophecy yet which spoke of his destruction! so Voldemort acting on the prophecy is the only reason one of them had to die. if he had ignored it then he would not have been tied to Harry Potter.

In the Order of the Phoenix Book, Sirius gave Harry the mirror as a means to communicate with each other, as Sirius had a matching one. (This wasn’t included in the film). Upon finding the mirror again at the end of TOOTP, Harry tries to use it to contact Sirius’ spirit, but as Sirius didn’t have his mirror with him when he died, Harry cannot speak to him, and he smashes the mirror out of anger. Aberforth gets Sirius’ mirror later, and uses it to check on Harry, sending Dobby to him Hope this helps, love your reactions ☺️

Imagine growing up with this series. I was the same age as Harry in the 1st movie when the 1st movie came out! By the last movie, i was a MESS. So many tears. This movie franchise was so big that the last poster just had the date of release, no title no nothing. People just KNEW.
The thing about Snape is, while he was a hero and done the right thing, the movies portray him as a nicer person than he really is. When he came to Dumbledore to ask him to hide Lily, Dumbledore already had the Potters in hiding as he knew the prophecy, but he pretended he didn’t to use the opportunity to bring Snape to his side. When Snape asked him to hide Lily he actually didn’t even ask or care to hide Harry or James, after Dumbledore heard this he made it clear how much Snape repulsed him. In the books when Dumbledore says to Snape, “But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?” And Snape replies, “For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!”. Snape genuinely did not have love or any feelings for Harry, it all boiled down to his obsession over Lily that he never moved on from.
Not quite! Snape loved Lily with a pure unconditional love, the highest love. Because he asked Voldemort to spare Lily it gave her TIME to protect Harry!! Voldemort told Snape he would give her 3 chances to give up Harry, had Snape not heard the prophecy, had he not been so respected by Voldemort that he could even DARE to ask him to spare her all 3 would have died!! How do you think he could ask Voldemort to spare Harry???? Are you serious?? It's laughable! Snape is partly responsible for saving Harry that night too, and at the very end he dies for Harry, Draco and the Wizarding world instead of revealing to the Dark Lord that he is not the true owner of the elder wand. He knows he did not disarm Dumbledore! And I don't think that's right at all, Dumbledore did not move them already he did not know that they were in danger, just general danger as Order members cuz they were losing Order members right and left, but as far as the dark lord hunting down the Potters, he did not know that until Snape told him! And yes he used him and manipulated him just like he did Harry and everybody else. Snape didn't have to love Harry or even like him.. he didn't want him hurt or killed ofc because he was Lily's son, and yes he did it all for her and then it's not obsession. He could have left after Lily was killed Dumbledore didn't keep up his bargain, but he stayed to help the Wizarding world, by being a double agent and protecting Harry. And if you even want to think about criticizing the way that Alan Rickman portrayed Snape... That's something we won't even touch. JK wanted Alan portraying Snape even before there was any thoughts of a movie. She was happy with the way he portrayed Snape. She and the directors let him have pretty much cart blanche when it came to portraying Snape. Alan got into his character the real Snape, and portrayed him the way he saw him as being, like he did all his characters. You know JK said of Snape, the one who seemed to care the least, was the one who loved the most. Doesn't sound like an obsessed person to me

Rowling herself even called Sanpes love for Lily more of an unhealthy obsession. It is also a fact not just my opinion that Dumbledore already had the Potters in hiding. How do you think Snape knew the prophecy? He overheard Trelawney telling it to Dumbledore in the Hogs Head, which is the reason Dumbledore hired her. Just read the books.

Actually, the kids HAD already met Aberforth - they just did not know it. He ran the Hogshead pub, a run-down old place when they all met up for the first meeting in the Order of the Phoenix. That is the place the trio went into where Ariana went to get Neville. Aberforth recognised them.
The way I clicked on this reaction so fast 😂🙌🏻 also love that you caught the theme that keeps reoccurring of a mother’s love saving Harry, not many reactors understand why Narcissa lied to Voldemort because she just wanted to originally be a part of the status & riches that come with being a pure blood aristocrat but family always comes first to her & she knew Draco was meeting Harry so if he was alive she knew he spared his life or protected him in some way & so as a thank you to Harry & a fuck you to Voldemort she straight up lied cuz she just wanted to see her son. A couple clarifying things that the movie didn’t explain well but they explained it in the books to help answer some of your questions: 1. The reason Voldemort went after Harry in the first place was when Snape was a death eater & was truly working for the dark side he overheard Professor Trelawney & Dumbledore behind a closed door where she was going into her trance saying the prophecy we watched in the 5th movie saying the person who would kill Voldemort would be a boy born at the end of July but Snape only stayed for the first part of the prophesy & didn’t hear the rest of it & ran to tell Voldemort & they had enough clues to deduct it was Harry Potter which Snape knew was Lily’s son & as soon as Snape realized Voldemort was going to kill Harry he knew Lily wouldn’t be safe either & begged Dumbledore to protect Lily only & Dumbledore called him pathetic for not caring about the rest of Lily’s family for wanting Lily to himself but letting her lose her husband & son. So when Dumbledore says “don’t tell me now you’ve grown to care for the boy” he’s really saying “don’t tell me now that the boy has to die again that you care about him instead of care for him the entire time” but the movie makes it seem like Dumbledore never cared about Harry & that’s not true. He just had to do what nobody else could do because Harry had to die for Voldemort to be killed to save the wizarding world, he didn’t want Harry to die either it just unfortunately had to be done to save everyone for the greater good. But Snape did grow to care for Harry because he loved Lily so much & he changed sides when he realized Voldemort was going after Lily which is Voldemort’s greatest downfall…he cannot love so he can’t understand the lengths someone will go to protect someone they love even his own followers. But now we see the internal conflict Snape struggled with was seeing James in Harry because he’s a spitting image of his bully but sees Lily in Harry’s eyes, the woman he loves & Snape’s character is just so truly tragic but he’s a great character because it’s not like he 100% is perfect he still bullied Harry severely in the books that the movies downplayed how bad Snape treated Harry but he still protected him from afar but only because of Lily not because it was the right thing to do. 2. The way Voldemort died in the book was they were circling each other in the great hall & dueling with the whole school watching & he died like a man which is symbolic of the fact that Voldemort was nothing but a man without his power. 3. If you notice the allegory of the tale of the three brothers, Snape died for love like the 2nd brother, Voldemort died for power like the 1st brother, & Harry greeted death like an old friend like the 3rd brother. 4. Dumbledore didn’t raise Harry for slaughter because he didn’t know until the 6th movie that Harry was a horcrux & that’s when he realized & connected the dots when they saw that Slughorn memory (this is what the 6th movie shows if you go back & watch when you see Dumbledore say “magic often times leaves…traces” & he looks at Harry some type of way.

Fantastic summary! I would add one thing (It's kind of my thing, as I don't think I've encountered anyone else saying anything quite like this). Once Dumbly-Dore knew about the horcruxes, knowing also that he himself was dying, and possibly soon, I believe he was doing all that he could to arrange for Voldy to kill Harry, without actually killing Harry, but instead killing the unintended horcrux. I believe that Albus knew how things could work out, as long as (a) nobody else killed Harry, and (b) Riddle was down to his last horcrux or 2, and would therefore be weakened. I've even wondered if Albus maybe put a spell on the snitch he left to Harry, so that when it opened (at the close) it would signal Dumbledore's spirit. He was probably a good enough wizard to work that out, and if there was a part of the spell (or a second spell) attached to the Resurrection Stone, that might bring Albus' spirit to where Harry's spirit was at that time. Yes, even though that whole conversation was happening in Harry's head, Albus would be able to help Harry reconcile himself to all that had happened.

So Lucius’ punishment for failing to get the prophecy in Order of the Phoenix was that Draco was tasked with killing Dumbledore, Voldemort assumed he would fail and therefore would kill him which would punish Lucius. Technically Draco didn’t fail as he lead to Dumbledore’s death and therefore survived, but the Malfoy’s were still disgraced. Voldemort used Lucius’ wand to humiliate him but he never intended for it to break, he genuinely believed it would work to kill Harry but it failed as Harry’s wand had essentially absorbed some of Voldemorts power in the graveyard duel in Goblet Of Fire and regurgitated it back at Voldemort and broke Lucius’ wand. With Ariana, neither Albus or Aberforth know whether it was them or Gridnlewald that cast the curse that killed her, Aberforth blames Albus as he was the one who had gone on a mission to basically rule over the muggles (for the greater good) along with Grindlewald. This is what led to the duel between the three of them.
Oh, man.... seeing Fred laying on the floor in the Great Hall dead is heartbreaking, especially seeing Ron break down in tears. (Hearing that Harry had to sacrifice himself to give them a chance of defeating Voldemort and the Death Eaters didn't help that grief.) Five points I've made in the past regarding Harry Potter: 1. The prophecy Professor Dumbledore mentioned in Professor Snape's memory that mentioned a baby born at the end of July was partially true. There were actually two: Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. They were born in the same month and year, but Neville is only 1 day older than Harry. (Neville: 30 July 1980, Harry: 31 July 1980.) Voldemort had simply chosen to target a then 15 month old Harry, thus marking him as his equal. Neville lived a life free of that fear with his grandmother, despite the constant painful reminder of his parents being permanently admitted to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after being tortured into insanity by Bellatrix Lestrange. 2. After the Battle For Hogwarts, George Weasley was never able to cast the Patronus Charm again, since it relies on your happiest memory to work, and literally ALL of his happy memories involved his deceased twin brother Fred. Most likely for a while, until he married Angelina Johnson and named his son after his twin. (According to The Wizarding World website) 3. Voldemort's death after his battle with Harry wasn't supposed to look like he got snapped out by Thanos and it wasn't just them isolated in the courtyard. In the book, Harry and Voldemort battle for the last time in front of everyone else and resulted in Voldemort dying as a mortal man once Neville sliced off Nagini's head, also effectively saving Ron & Hermione in the process. 4. Harry didn't snap the Elder Wand in the book version. He mends his original wand (the one he got in Philosopher's Stone from Ollivander's) with it then returns it to Professor Dumbledore's grave. 5. I give HUGE props to Narcissa for straight up lying to Voldemort after Harry confirmed to her that Draco was alive. It shows that neither her or her son wanted the Death Eater life. 6. That one goblin who stared in shock as the Ukrainian Ironbelly busted through the floor of Gringotts seriously looked a bit like Donald Trump. 😆🤣
So much heartfelt emotion in this reaction, it was fun to relive this film with you. Thank you! I'm sure you've noticed the significance more after editing, but I'm sad when reactors have no reaction to the most heartbreaking moment of the film: "After all this time?" "Always." Snape's arc is the hidden jewel in the whole Harry Potter story. Alan Rickman deserved an Oscar nomination for this film. Starting with the gloriously filmed opening scene of the back of him standing in the window frame, utterly alone; as the colorful, lively Hogwarts where he lived & learned as a child, then returned as a teacher, is dark, cold, lifeless & gray, with the children marching in silent military formation. Ruthless, heartless Death Eaters run the place & Dementors fly around like wraiths, waiting for a reason to suck the life's breath from whoever they catch, adult or child. His face is the picture of "I did not want ANY of this." In one look, he portrays utter tragedy & heartbreak; being in way, way over his head, knowing it & unable to get out. First few minutes should've got him gold. But Snape made a deal: He tearfully pleaded for Lily's life, knowing Voldemort was on his way to kill her, & Dumbledore stood there, saying, "What will you do for me?" instead of rushing to save 2 beloved former students, key fighters in "Dumbledore's Army" & their newborn. PS: Dumbledore did not actually save Lily; but Snape made the devil's bargain, & spent the next 16 years risking his life, hiding in plain sight, but never able to be his true self. Having to serve as right hand to the beast who killed the one person he ever loved, & having to educate & live under the same roof as the infant she died to save, who looked (& sometimes acted) like a carbon copy of the other person Snape hated most. More torment for Snape that the child had the only living reminder of his lost love, Lily's eyes. Dumbledore made Snape do horrible, soul-destroying things against his will time & time again, despite the fact that Dumbledore failed his end of the bargain & all that was left of Lily was this brat that Snape never wanted to see. Snape made a very bad deal, but unlike Saint Dumbledore, he stuck with it, until it killed him. #RIPAlanRickman
Explaination in case others haven't told: In the memory, the blond girl was Petunia Evans nee Dursley, Harry's aunt. Lily was the redhead, and Severus was the black-haired boy. You MOSTLY guessed the love, but only Severus felt it. Lily did fall for James eventually, leading to their mistrust for Severus. On one hand, Lily was popular, skilled, kind, and fair. Severus was small, a Dark Arts fan, but never called Lily 'mudblood' due to his crush on her from childhood. He never had the courage to confess, because in their 5th year, he called her 'mudblood', and that was the end of their friendship for good. Losing Lily to James Potter (Severus's POV was that James was a attention-seeker, big Quidditch hero, etc etc) resulted in poor Severus going to the dark. He would NEVER love a woman again, as his love for Lily even after her death remained solid. What Severus meant by 'No one... can know,' is he's agreeing to protecting Lily's son, Harry, despite the fact he looked EXACTLY like James. First time Sev saved Harry was when Qurriel was attempting to kill him in that match in Sorcerer's Stone. Second time was in the H-BP, I think. Another thing, throughout the years, Severus had been struggling with whenether he saw Lily in Harry or James in Harry. Harry has James's looks and Lily's kindness and eyes, so you can't blame Severus's words in the book version of the memories. For the moment between Severus and Minerva (Professor McGonagall), I'm not sure you noticed Severus lower his wand for a moment. He's showing he doesn't want to fight Minerva, trying to hint at his true side: The Light. Every spell Minerva casts, Severus deflects toward the two DEs behind him. When you saw his 'hopping' between both DEs, it was showing Severus was taking their wands before jumping out the window. Another thing that most reactors never notice. For the moment between Voldemort (I spelled it Voldimort my first time) and Severus, you missed something: "Where does its true loyaty lie?" Voldemort asked softly. "With *you*, of course, my Lord," Severus answered, turning in *Harry*'s dirrection *secretly*. He's hinting to both Harry and the viewers that the Elder Wand belongs to *Harry* by moving *slightly*. The camera captures the movement, but most reactors don't see that. For how Lily saved Harry from being killed, she willingly cast herself between her son and an enemy. It's never mentioned in the movies, but when Lily sacirfised herself, she put a love protection on Harry: the power of love. In total, a mother's love for her son saved Harry two times. First was the night in Godric's Hollow, second was when Narcissa Malfoy asked in Draco was alive. 'Still feighing death on the ground, Harry understood. Narcissa knew that the only way of entering Hogwarts and finding her son was as part of the conguring army. She no longer cared if Voldemort won.' In short, a mother's love both saved Harry twice and defeated Voldemort twice. The reason Severus protected Harry was due to his undying love for Lily, and he eventually fell into caring for Harry, despite the looks of James. Lily was inside the last living Potter alive. For the tale of the Deathly Hallows if it hasn't been explained yet: the oldest brother's the ansestor of Voldemort. The Elder Wand had a VERY bloody history, but always appeared through time. Albus (Dumbledore) won it from Gelert Grindelwald (in Fantastic Beasts), ending the First Wizarding War. The Resurrection Stone, as far as I know, was only shown in time as belonging to the Gaunt family. Merope Gaunt was Voldemort's pureblood mother, who had a strong crush on a Muggle boy named Tom Riddle (Sr), Voldemort's father. So Voldemort/Tom Riddle Jr was a half-blood, believe it or not. The Cloak Of Invisibility belonged to James Potter, as it had been passed down the Potter family line from the Peveralls, the original owners. The Peverall family was the earilest family in the male line to vanish, by the way. The 3 brothers were Anton (can't fully remember spelling), Cadmus, and Ignotus Peverall. It's later revealed that the Cloak, after James died, moved its loyalty to Ignotus's last living descentant AKA the last living Potter: James's son, Harry. Everything ABOVE this was just the BASICS, bro. Research more to get a better understanding.

I would like to say that you shouldn't take it as grandaddy Dumbledore didn't care about whether Harry lived or not, he did care (i believe he loved Harry like his own) he just knew that Harry was a horcrux and actually wouldn't die, he knew that Voldy had to kill that part of himself. Also he couldn't just tell harry that and ruin what needed to be done cuz we all know Harry ain't got no patience and he would have tried to run up on that man LOL.

As for recommending other series, I'd highly recommend the series "Arcane" If you haven't seen it already, it's fantastic, and I feel like with how much you've enjoyed this series, the Hunger Games, and Spider-Verse, you might enjoy it as well? It gets pretty heavy at times, but it's very, very well done, has gorgeous animation and music, and absolutely incredible character writing, as well as some fantastical elements :)

In the books Aberforth is mentioned waaay before if I remember correctly in book 2 and Grindelwald is actually mentioned first in book 1 (he’s mentioned on Dumbledore’s chocolate frog collectors card). The big reveal in the last book however is, that he was already known by the reader (without knowing it was Dumbledore’s brother) because it turned out, that he was owner of the pub “hogshead”. A notorious place in Hogsmead, and the place where Hagrid won Norbert and where the DA held their first meeting. In the seventh book Dumbledore’s extremely dark past and his responsibility for a lot of the racism towards muggles gets revealed, but it got completely cut from the movie franchises and the same goes for Voldemorts backstory and the crazy secrets surrounding his family, the Gaunts and their relationship to the Riddles. And that is really sad, cause in the movies Voldy is a very one dimensional villain and you don’t really get to understand why he is an extremist and is not able to truly understand love, while at the same time sharing a bunch of similarities with Harry.
That’s what I thought too! They made Voldemort very one dimensional and I would love to see his backstory told!! Because it just seemed like he was a “troubled” boy who grew into a man.

1:10 -- Yeah, the reunion's great, I recommend it. They don't include JK Rowling though, which sucks. As a gay man, I still don't agree with the crucifixion of JK Rowling that has happened, but that's a much much MUCH bigger conversation. 2:57 -- The Malfoys and Blacks are all related. The Weasleys aren't related to them, but they are all bona fide pureblood families. 4:36 -- Dobby took her wand when they were at Malfoy Manor. After Harry disarms Draco, his mom gives him her wand and she takes Bellatrix's, then Dobby disarms her and takes that wand before disapperating them out of Malfoy Manor. You still have the books for a longer somewhat different adventure through the world of Harry Potter. At this point there are only 28 "pureblood" families left. Hard not to bbe related to *someone.* I believe Arthur Weasley *is* a distant cousin of the Blacks. Harry used the Imperius Curse on the goblin at the bank to get in. Voldemort was after Harry because he only heard part of the prophecy. Snape didn't care about Harry or James dying. He begged Dumbledore to save Lily. When Dumbledore was disgusted by this and pointed out that Lily would be devastated to lose them Snape *then* begged Dumbledore to save them all. Snape was waaaay worse in the books. Dumbledore had known since Voldemort used Harry's blood to resurrect a body for himself that Voldemort couldn't kill Harry as long as Voldemort himself was alive. By using Harry's blood (carrying Lily's protection) Voldemort then carried that protection for Harry inside himself. He acted as kind of a positive horcrux of love for Harry. Once Voldemort was dead then Harry would be just as vulnerable to death as everyone else. Voldemort just fell over dead like any other human in the book which he would have absolutely hated. Definitely finish LOTR. Have you done Back To The Future yet? There's also The Mummy trilogy and the spinoff The Scorpion King.
