just thought I should say, Valka didn’t want to return to berk because she knew that cloudjumper (her dragon) would follow her back. Berk would’ve obviously killed him on sight and the the bewilderbeast would’ve practically flattened bark with its ice breath for killing one of his dragons. She basically thought she should stay away to protect hiccup and stoick from being killed.
@@DonTownsend neither did I and just wait for third, Im kinda certain the end will crush you man 😅. And from my pov you should listen to the end credits song of third movie. I started crying in theatre. Btw, thanks for reply. Been watching for some time and most of the time you got insane reactions ✌️ Wish you a great future man
@@DonTownsendyea bruv if your interested in all of hiccups tech advancement like the glide suit and flame sword the shows are well with it even in your own time they fill in the gaps between movies
In the first film, Stoick didn't listen to Hiccup and almost loses his son. This time, Hiccup doesn't listen to Stoick and loses his dad. I think Hiccup's mistake is part of why I love this movie. Everybody makes mistakes and, yes, sometimes they have BIG consequences. It's heart-breaking but it's human. We all need to learn to accept when we make mistakes, and make sure we grow from them and don't just repress it or overwhelm us because it feels bad.
I agree!! It was also showed in the show ( before the second movie in race to the edge) of hiccup just learning to accept himself for making mistakes and being well, human!
Hiccup being so set on talking it out and using diplomacy makes a lot more sense when you've watched the series. We see the 5 years in between the first and second movie, with Hiccup learning, exploring and leading the others. He convinces and changes so many people's minds throughout the show that it's what he _knows_ he's good at. It's the kind of leader he is. He's never been the type of leader to use threats or force, instead using his intelligence and ingenuity to solve problems, and his kindness and empathy to understand others - whether they're dragon or human. Hiccup has never been a "fighter", he's always been someone who wants to do things differently, to change the world by changing minds. This is the first time he's ever lost someone close to him because of that choice.
Basically it's not Hiccup's fault his dad died - his Dad chose to save him. Hiccup didn't want his dad jumping between them. The only one at fault is Drago. You're not giving Hiccup any slack whatsoever - remember his dad didn't believe him until he saw it for himself? Why do you expect Hiccup to believe his Dad based on an old memory and dire warning? It's not about victory for Hiccup, it's about saving as many lives - dragon and humans as possible. He's always been an optimist and forward thinker - believing in the best of people is how he's come so far to begin with.
@@jessbellis9510 agreed not to mention he shouldnt have to push hiccup away. in the series we already knew this isnt the first time toothless went feral (aka the eels island and the time with the flee) hiccup survived both on his own at the age of 15 - 17. now hes 20 you would thinnk he knows how to dodge his own dragons shot yknow? i got a feeling hes just back away so toothless could shoot the ice and distract himself so he could go ovet to drago to fight. but that plan went away when his father once again, got in the way (just like in the first movie with the nightmare)
I get why hiccup upset you but he didn't tell his dad to do what he did but anyone fault for his death is drago he abused the alpha dragon and plus hiccup said he not his dad it not who he wants to be being a peacekeepers is who Hiccup is his dad basically abused and he said your not my son his mom said he's the strongest of them all and has the heart of Cheif and soul of a dragon that is who Hiccup is and he learns from his mistakes
Since you said you weren't watching the TV show, I just wanna say that Hiccup has in fact convinced several enemies to accept peace with dragons. His belief that he can do the same with Drago makes so much more sense in this context. He's literally done it before with people who were determined to continue trapping and selling and killing dragons. Drago just happened to be an exception and that's what makes this so tragic. Going for the peaceful solution first is part of Hiccup's character and he's used to doing things that others tell him is impossible. The tragedy of this movie is that all the decisions make sense for Hiccup's character and if he made other decisions then he wouldn't be him.

@@okewhy5873 Dragons riders of berk Dragons defenders of berk Dragons race to the edge The first 2 are pretty much just 1 whole series with 2 different seasons. And then race to the edge which is a masterpiece
So you can get all mad about hiccup insisting he can change people’s minds by talking, but like,,, in the series he did get out of situations by talking. It’s a point that hiccup as a character uses his intellect over his fighting prowess, mostly because he physically is weaker than the other character (but rip snotlouts jaw). And he has made allies out of enemies. So from that perspective, his approach in this movie is very in character
I love that final confrontation between Toothless and the ALpha. I, personally, believe that the Alpha wasn't fighting back against Toothless because it wasn't a bad dragon. It was being controlled by fear and pain. The Alpha's role and duty is to protect the other dragons. It never wanted to fight the others, but it was being forced to. And then, when Toothless stood up to him, it was, most likely, the only other time outside of Drago that it felt fear and pain. So it thought that Toothless was stronger than it.
And in the third movie, when we see Thootless and Lightfury in the rock in the hidden world, we can see the wilderbeast in the crownd of dragons, and its cleary him because of the missing horn and because Valka did say that her was one of the few that still exists
31:48 So here's a reason why the dragons can't just light everything up. If you remember, in the first film they mention that dragons have a limited amount of fire, and they show their fire has limited range. So they would still have to get down there to fight the army.
Little detail : At the end of the film when hiccup and toothless catches black sheep just before astrid , hiccup throws it into astrids basket and gives the game to her.
Honestly, the series(both) really explained why hiccup thought he could change dragons mind. I mean, he was the best man at the wedding of the guy who wanted nothing more but to kill him, he got alvin to become an ally and he even had Viggo, a guy who declared war against him and drove hiccup a tad nuts trying to stop him to see dragons are good leading to his sacrifice. I would think I could change his mind too.
A continuity detail I like is that if you go back to the first movie, Hiccup still has the scar on his chin. It shows how much planning went into these movies.❤❤
38:00 I fully understand Hiccup's reaction here. After the loss of a loved one, you almost lose the capacity to think rationally. I literally did this exact same thing to my dogs after my mom died, and they had nothing to do with her death. Though I didn't lash out after that, I fully resented a lot of the people around me, whether it was because their parents were alive or because they appeared to have their lives together, while it felt like mine was in shambles. I quickly realized those feelings were irrational, but I couldn't stop feeling them for a long time. Though Toothless was not at fault for Stoic's death, he did directly cause it. I can't imagine how hard it would be and long it would take for your emotions to reflect your rational thoughts in that situation.
Even if you don’t do a reaction to the series its really worth watching. It’s amazing at showing the changes from the first movie to second like how hiccup made things like the sword and shows them learning about dragons that aren’t shown in the movies. All the series are also good at developing other characters and communities outside of Berk that they don’t have time to show in the main movies.
The series covers the time between movies. It shows how the people changed and their way of life changed to become what it is in the new movie. I understand that you may not have time to react to it or even watch it on your own, but it would answer a number of your questions. That's why it's been recommended so much.
I honestly love the franchise and the movie as a whole. The TV show you mentioned in the first video of these movies, is basically the development of the world, where you learn about more of the dragons that are featured. So a lot of dragons, in this movie were 'discovered' and explored in the TV show if you are interested. If you haven't seen it yet I would recommend the movie 'Rise of the Guardians', which is about Jack Frost.
Ngl I always cried everytime I watch this. Growing up, my outlook on shows like this were "I'm the main character of the show" or "The main character and I are the same person", so in other words I am Hiccup and his father, Stoick is my father. So when I saw Stoick's death for the first time, I cried till I felt physically weak, even while watching this vid, tears welled up in my eyes. When a show could bring out the emotions you usually supress or any emotion at all, then you know it's a masterpiece, can't wait for the 3rd part.
All the dragons have characteristics from animals in real life. Toothless is similar to a cat. Stormfly (Astrid’s dragon) is similar to a parrot. The dragons you saw when Hiccup was flying in the beginning were normal dragons that just lives in an aquatic habitat. They were both mentioned in the first moviez
If you are intrested about the dragons i do recommend the series for it explores more about them and shows different dragons Also she stayed away because she almost got them killed and fidnt want that again so she stayed
32:48 they are about the same size the other one was the queen this one is the king and also this one was born after the events of the Netflix series “Dragons: Race to The Edge”
The TV series are great in my opinion How to train your dragon and the 3rd one are up their for me the 2nd one was ok I wasn’t happy about what happened to his dad but it is what it is
Hicup had a stoik moment In httyd 1 hicup told his dad "whould ever listen to me" And he did the same in httyd 2 he did not listen to his dad Like his dad did not listen to him back in httyd 1
I wouldn't recommend all the tv shows, but the netflix one with them inbetween ages of the first and second film was good, goes a little more indepth of dragons being wild animals with deferent behavior depending on species
The tv series is honestly really good! It’s everything that happens in between movie 1 and 2 it has really good lore, villains, new crazy dragons! I highly recommend it and would love a series of you reacting but either way it’s your channel and I respect your decisions I’ll still be a loyal sub either way! Keep up the amazing work!
In the series of race to dragons edge hiccup and the dragon riders find there own island and it show them finding new dragons every episode and how hiccup made his fire sword and how stoic ( hiccups dad ) got his own dragon it times in between the first and the second movie his mom even shows up in the last episode
I heard that hiccup had practiced how to move oyt pf the way when toothless went out of control and thats what he was going to do which is y he held out his hand to his to stop because he probably was gonna move
What a fantastic reaction. This movie is beyond worlds and it doesn’t loose it’s value no matter how many times you rewatch it. Truly a beautiful piece of cinema! Can’t wait to see the Hidden World reaction. There will be tears
These movies are among my favorite movies of all time, regardless of genre, animated or not, and I'm enjoying your reactions to them. I know you'll like The Hidden World, it's en epic conclusion to the trilogy!
By this movie…hiccup and the dragon riders have gone through several wars already lol…the war with the outcasts, berserkers, and the dragon hunters…berk was even temporarily taken over by the dragon hunters lol…
27:30 i love this bit because it mustve been thar when he was with Valka and hiccup was a baby he probably was loud and angry when he had to deal with Valka like hiccup but when he lost Valka he softened on hiccup because he didnt wanna push hiccup away or lose him thats why hiccup would normally be inside
The second movie really is the best out of the trilogy personally. We get to see Hiccup's mom and her badass armor (the number 1 point why its my favourite) and the bewilderbeast
One of my fav series as a child. I must say I love your channel man. your reactions are also so genuine. U see the good writting and the lil things the animators but work into. This series has adults in tears. its a total crowd pleaser for all ages
nothing can describe the excitement from watching the second movie trailer, and the nostalgia I got after finding out there will be a 3rd. What a childhood
In the first movie the red death was the massive dragon that toothless faced, the red death was an alpha dragon as it was making other dragons get food for him, when toothless killed him he became an alpha dragon, when drago's bewilderbeast went to control toothless he succedded because toothless hadn't discovered he was an alpha dragon so he was mind controlled thats why all the dragons got onto his side in the final battle
for the things that seem confusing and the changes that seem a lot, there are tv series between the 1st and 2nd movies that show the adventure hiccup and friends embarked on, a lot of characters shown in the series and a LOT of dragons and infos about them.
Tbh, you can enjoy the movies without watching the tv series. They are good, for sure, especially the second series that was produced for Netflix, but if you don't want to watch them, don't.
The letters in "DreamWorks SKG" stand for the founders of Dreamworks! Spielberg (filmmaker), Katzenberg (ex-Disney chairman), and Geffen (musical giant).
Fuck this movie, there's so many reasons to cry! And I am drunk af so that means I'm crying extra hard!? "That's my future daughter in law" Never gonna see that wedding "He's decided to make you the chief" Well now he has to become the chief "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you" Gets 2 hours together after 20 years Just kill me why don't you ;_;
SPOILER FOR THE SERIES if you watched the series, you'll realize hiccup told his father to stay back because he know how to deflect from toothless shots meaning his sacrifice was not really needed which makes it more tragic. This movie takes place 5 years in the future and in the series hes been in countless battle which includes both mankind and dragons. It made me realize why he thinks he can change this enemy's mind because well.. he did change a once maniacs mind aka dagur. and of course during the series we also see them training their skills. Not to mention this isnt the first time toothless lost control, if you remember the episode about the island of eels hiccup has been put in the same position like in this movie so he probably prepared himself after that just incase yknow? especially when he knows hes in a literal battlefied, anything could go wrong. Which is why i understand how hiccup can forgive toothless so easily, its because he knew he should went out of the way earlier instead of waiting for an opening to go over toothless (which is why im assuming hes backing away, to get toothless to shoot the ice and momentary distract him then probably fight drago since dragos guard is down since hes convinced hiccup is done) honestly virgo is more intelligent than drago and hiccup managed to win against him and his well planned moves.
the reason why everyone wants you to watch the tvshow is because its like way better than the movie and the movie is prefect so just imagine that race to the edge is even more prefect than all 3 of the movies
Bc he represented innocence and the limitless potential of children, so yes it's more of a symbolisn than anything. Toothless is based on the main creator of the movie's Cat I heard
