This movie does representation right. Miles isn't just a "black Spider-Man." He's his own character and he doesn't take over anyone's role, he creates his own role.
To be fair, when he was created it was just so they could have a black Spider-Man. We got lucky that he became his own character after a few years before they put him in a movie or game
The reason Peni was sad at her robot getting destroyed is because it was the last thing she had from her dad. It was her way of still being with her dad and remembering him, even after he passed.
It is embarrassing that this movie did Miles better than the comics that created him. Also someone may wanna explain Spidey's....complicated movie history so Don doesn't get confused if he decides to watch Venom or something
@@musicbox6144 I mean I'm not trying to hate on him, it's just true. I liked Miles when he first showed up but he wasn't a character. He was Peter Parker with new powers and a badass new costume. This movie and, to some extent, Insomniac are creating a distinct identity for Miles the Brian Michael Bendis never could
i like that he doesn’t appear to be a really nerdy, science guy anymore, instead being more like an artist. this movie introduced this idea, and the ps5 game reinforced it.
Vanessa didnt know that her husband was a monster. a mob boss. he was someone else when around her and their son Richard. so when she saw him beating up SpiderMan, someone whom she actually respected along with her husband, she saw him for who he really was. She left with their son and in escaping from him, they both died in a car crash. he blames SpiderMan and has been trying everything he can to get them back.
With regard to Vanessa's motivations: Fiske wasn't just fighting Spider-Man. He had him restrained and was choking and beating him. Not to mention, this man conducts himself as someone who absolutely expects his word to be law, he is brutal, and he gives no second chances-- we see this when he shoots and kills Uncle Aaron for defying him, when he attempts to intimidate Dr. Octavius (she doesn't let him get to her, but I'm looking at his behavior), and when he shows no qualms about beating a 14-year-old kid into the ground in the final fight. While it's clear that Fiske regrets what ended up happening, I have very little doubt that Vanessa had already seen enough of her husband's temper and his brittle, uncompromising need for control that when she saw the extent of his brutality, the only thing that made sense was to get out.
Aaron knew that he was dead when he decided to spare Miles. One of Fisk's henchmen is gone, Green Goblin, completely vanished never to be heard from again after he messed up the collider.
I actually believe he was different around Vanessa and Richard and only left bc seeing him be so brutal was a shock to her system and she didnt want their son around that. judging by how Wilson reacted when he said that Vanessa saw him, and how absolutely frightened and shocked she looked, this was new to her. she didnt know who he really was bc he hid it from her. she was so horrified that she left immediately n took Richard with her.
Actually, I think it’s implied Green Goblin straight up just died in the blast from the particle collider. As the camera pans over the rubble, you just sorta see his hand laying there with the rest of his body off screen. Though how that blast would have managed to kill Norman but not Peter is a mystery to me, especially considering how durable Green Goblin looks.
@@andreassmed2255 well no peters also durable as hell hes spiderman and also in this animated movie theyre amped up as hell how peter b took so much damage from miles, doc ock and he got hit by a tree and miles can just break a rock with his elbow with ease
Is it really that hard to understand that if Peter had kids with Mary Jane, his villians could just kidnap them to get to Spider-Man thus putting them in danger. They might even kill them. But honestly I do agree that it would be cool for Spider-Man to have kids.
Thank you, was looking for comment like this. There are multiple reasons why he may be scared to have a kid. And all those reasons added together is probably what stopped him
I always assumed he was afraid to have kids because they would always be a potential target or at risk from his enemies....and while he's out risking his life, protecting others, he might not be able to protect them.
That version of Doc Ock can get it, same goes for Mary Jane. Anyone else notice that Aunt May might be one of Doc Ocks' friends because she said everyone just calls her Doc Ock, but her friends call her Liv, and Aunt May called her Liv. The crazy/worst part about that alternate dimensional version of Kingpin's family seeing him fight Spider-Man is the fact that we don't know wether or not Wilson Fisk is/was good in that dimension.
Fun fact, when he was first bitten by the glitchy radioactive spider, Miles movements were slow, kinda like a motion comic, though his movements became fluid once he "matured" near the end of the movie. 9:15, Mile's colors are at first green and purple which is the Prowler's theme, though it changed to red, and blue once he met Peter Parker. 20:20, You can briefly see several dots in the sky, those were the Spidermen and Spiderwomen.
That green purple is not prowler theme that's the Green Goblin theme that first appeared when he vaguely sensed some danger. Which later turns to Red and Blue signifying Peter as an ally.
@@realitylapse Spoilers for the second movie In the second movie we see the same spider that bit miles in another dimension, he tries to bite the miles in that dimension and is teleported to miles's dimension (that makes him all that glitchy) later we see the same miles that wasn't bitten by the spider become the prowler so yes, miles was made to become the prowler until the spider bit him
What’s still peculiar to me is that they implemented comic books in a comic book film. It’s kinda ironic because that’s not something usually done with superhero comic book films which have become the norm. The entire film itself is one massive comic book. From the speech bubbles to the text boxes to the panels to the splash art, it’s almost as if us the audience are flipping through the pages as we’re watching the film. There are two sequels on the way. One coming this year is Across the Spider-Verse. Next year we’re getting Beyond the Spider-Verse. Oscar Isaac voiced Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 in the post credit scene, and he’s gonna have a prominent role in Across the Spider-Verse. That’s also where we’ll meet Jessica Drew voiced by Issa Rae. There’s a Spider-Woman spinoff in the works with Gwen and Jessica expected to appear. They also plan to bring in Cindy Moon/Silk. And finally, late musician Juice WRLD collaborated with Seezyn in the song called Hide. Juice would have been 24 today.
13:38 maybe because it’s harder to risk his life everyday if he knows he’d be leaving a kid behind to grow up without a dad. Maybe because he’s scared about his family’s safety which is definitely warranted considering how many dangerous enemies spiderman has. Or maybe he just feels like he’s not ready to be a parent yet. There’s a million reasons
I respect this movie for respecting Spider-man. A lesser film would have made Peter B. Parker be this pathetic has-been who messes up and needs the new kid to remind him what it means to be a hero. This take's more subtle because the reason why Peter's personal life went down the drain was BECAUSE he was devoted to being an amazing Spider-man. Even with the extra weight, he still moves and fights and thinks flawlessly (glitching aside). By not dumbing down Peter, it also really elevates Miles to see him reach his mentor's level.
I don't think talking it out was Vanessa's first thought. First off, she just found out her husband is Spider-man's enemy which was supposed to be the good guy. Not to mention, Kingpin even claimed he was a friend of Spidey's. But also just as important, she saw her husband was capable of that kind of violence. It definitely looked like Vanessa was terrified. I mean if you think about it, it IS terrifying. You suddenly realize this hulking giant you're married to wasn't so gentle after all. So her first thought was taking her son away from Kingpin.
how doesn't it make sense to see your husband fighting a superhero and you got so scared for your child's safety you drove away frantically and ended up getting killed in a crash not make sense😭❤️❤️
Regarding Kingpin’s family. Imagine you love a girl with everything you have. You decide to settle down and have children and live with them in a nice big house. And one day you walk in with your child and see them fighting one of the most powerful and most just people on earth. Your first instincts as a parent would be to grab your child and leave. Along with the feeling of betrayal. Feeling like you can no longer trust this person because they basically are in massive trouble with the law.
13:33 I think the fear comes from not knowing if you'll live another night. He could die fighting some monster and he'd leave behind his family. Or the possibility that an enemy of his will discover who his family is and harm them
if you remember at the beginning when Miles is walking to school and his friend asked him if he felt the "earthquake"last night,That was the first time Kingpin turned on the machine and when Gwen came thu
the reason why Peter B Parker was scared to have kids is because he would feel like he could never have time to spend with them because he is always fighting crime, the children would also probably be in constant danger do to the fact that so many villains and criminals want to kill spider-man
13:32 I don't understand your reaction here. It's actually super believable that someone who spends their days as a vigilante superhero might not feel ready for the responsibility of raising a family.
I recommend reacting to _Puss in Boots: The Last Wish._ It's got an art style that's reminiscent of this one, sort of a comic book-y, watercolor-y 2.5D look, and the movie is excellent; heartfelt, legitimately hilarious and at times a touch scary. You don't need to have watched the first Puss in Boots to enjoy it either; I haven't watched anything Shrek-related since Shrek 2 and I had no trouble following things.
The reason he has invisibility and venom strike powers is because he got bit by the spider way younger than peter in age, so hes body is very active at a young age giving him more powers.
every one of these spider people are real with their own comic run! i dont know much about them admittedly, but i do know Peni in her comics is actually quite serious, but it makes sense she was just an anime gag here bc she wasnt the focus
Please, just Please, next "Arcane" series, because I want to see your reaction at that animation, trauma, and evil thing and everything else, it's just too good.
@@hecates Samee, but I think it's gonna be in next year and the season 1 was masive project as I know, that it take like 7+ years to make just a season 1, I think
I really wonder how so many people didn't watch that movie until recently. People really missed out on that one. Spiderverse reactions are all over my RU-vid feed. 😅
19:55 they were talking about an Earthquake when Miles was going to school, which mean they were using the collider that opened up to Gwen's dimension.
I absolutely LOVE spiderverse. I love the characters, i love the diversity of the characters and how casually it's done. I love the animation and the style and the music. This movie and across the spiderverse have to be my favourite animated movies like EVER????
Bruh -- did you not notice the Stan Lee cameo after Peter Parker died?? (Incidentally, this was the first Marvel movie to be released after Stan Lee's death -- so that cameo hits you like a punch in the gut... especially since Stan said "I'm going to miss him").
i just realized that Miles is gonna use Peter and his own technique to escape the punching bag trap and hes probably gonna say dont watch the mouth, watch the hands
"yOu CaN't rAiSe a KiD foR 18 yEaRs?" Spoken like a young man who doesn't have kids lol Do you know how hard raising kids is? He was afraid because of the danger that he would be putting his children in and having to balance being father with the massive responsibility of protecting the city and the world, that's a huge decision and would be hard for anyone. Running into a fight with criminals is much easier than raising children and being a good father under his circumstances
Damnn i just realised when miles falls down he hit a sign with number on the scene where he brakes "The Thingy" and the camera goes up on him lying on the floor with the numbers 42 which resembles the earth where the spider who bit miles come from (Earth- 42) damn that hit hard
Fun fact about this movie - there's no motion blur or focal lengths. The background has that chromatic effect wherever its out of focus. That's i think one of the main reasons why every frame looks like something out of a comic book.
Something that always bothered me about this movie is that in Miles' dimension there was a Spider-Man comic explaining that dimension's Spider-Man's origin story, & yet no one knew that Spider-Man was Peter Parker before he died fighting Kingpin despite it being literally written down for them?
Within Marvel comics there are Marvel comics about Marvel superheros so it's less meta than it seems or as meta as the source material. There's also two sets of comics, the first are just meta and no one is reading the Miles Morales comic in universe. The other does exist but we don't know there's anything that tells people who Spider-man is. If you look at the comic panels the character of Peter Parker doesn't look like that universe's Peter Parker at all. You also don't see the character in the comics being called Peter Parker so there's no reason to think that the comic is accurate at all. Could just be fan merch someone is publishing without his involvement. If Peter is involved as long as he doesn't give them identifiable information no one would figure it out. He could even give misleading information to make it harder to figure out.
The reason why Peter doesnt want to have kids with MJ is because he was afraid of what it would do to her or the baby genetically because of his spider bite, not because of a fear of having kids or being a father.
As i watch the movie again and check for details, I noticed that miles' Jordan looks like the Jordan 1 Retro Chicago 2013 with the jumpman logo on the front but none on the back
The time space continuum. It moves them through time so even tho we saw it happen at one point in time, it brought Gwen in a week before it happened. Its just timey wimey stuff. Also Spidey senses are more than judt sensing danger and other spidermen/women. It guided them in a way.
19:45 in the beginning when he was walking past his old school one of his friends asked if he felt that earthquake last night so these glitches have probably been happening for a while
The reason he was scared of having kids was because he was bitten by the radioactive spider so he was scared something could go wrong because of the radiation still in him
13:51 its not that he cant raise a kid, its that he is spiderman and is very afraid of bringing a kid to a world where he is spiderman, a dangerous world
Second movie comes out on my birthday can't wait hope they have it in 3D I've recently found out that's the best way to watch movies at the movie theater
The reason Peter B. Parker is scared of having kids is because in the comics, him and MJ tried to have a kid and due to Peter’s DNA being altered by the radioactive spider, his radioactive sperm ended up giving her cancer and she died
There's a difference between fighting baddies and raising a family. Peter struggling to balance his hero and personal life is already enough of a recurring conflict in this franchise, adding parenting to the equation could be even more troubling. That and there are certain Spidey comics were he and MJ try to get kids have a habit of not ending too well, for MJ especially.
@don townsend i could see the reason they had peter b parker be afraid of having kids as something along the lines of being scared of passing on his powers to his offspring and having him have that life too. also, there is a classic spiderman comic where spiderman accidentally kills mary jane because his semen was radioactive like the spider bite and she couldnt handle it. i forget the name but the writers probably thought of that comic for tragic backstories for alternate spidermen.
