First Time Watching: THE MENU (Reaction) 

I think you were right when you said he was happiest making the burger for her because it reminded him of being a line cook. That’s probably why he let her live. Everyone else reminded him of why he was unhappy or were the reason why he became unhappy with his craft. I’m totally gonna wear that s’mores outfit for Halloween this year 😂

The reason he let her go was because he said he lost his joy for his craft and her asking for the cheeseburger after seeing a pic of him in the diner at his happiest brought that back to him before his final moments and he felt joy cooking again and let her go, becauae she was the one person in a long time to make him feel pure joy from cooking again after so long.

Excellent reaction. And for a couple of minutes, I thought there was a little dog hanging out on the bed.

I think he saw something in her that he knew, which he addressed, that she was in a similar industry (prostitution=service industry), and how he made that distinction, you could tell cooking is essentially joyless to him at that point. I think that’s why he gave her the opportunity to pick a side. It was an empty choice because he did plan for everyone, including himself, to die. I think he let her go because she gave him a final spark, an opportunity to satisfy her with his food that the others, whether they actually liked his food or not, didn’t have the nerve to say so. Asking for something that made him remember the joy of cooking made him amenable to her sly request to save herself. However, something that some other RU-vidr brought up was that part where they talked about the meat they cured. This makes me wonder why the movie ended in an ominous sounding tune when she continued to eat the burger: was it cured to the correct time or more? If so, is the burger something that kept his plan intact given that the boat breaks down. Crazy movie. Love biting satire, and such a dark and twisted delight.

Saw this movie knowing nothing at all and had a blast. Great reaction! Glad you enjoyed the movie too.
