WHEN I were a Teenager in Guyana, they never used to have potatoes, I wonder what they make the Fishcake with???? If you do not know ask your mother...

@Psalms & Prayers OK, I love to eat Fishcake. The 27th of March 40 years I am in this Country U.S. Since 21 years I Never set my eyes on Guyana soul. Anyway, Thanks, they normally fry bake with saltfish together, this Time, I am going to bake bread with the saltfish mixed-up together. Have to start something NEW. later

Made just we made it growing up. I sometimes wonder how come we never say cilantro in Guyana in the 60s and 70s when I was there. At least I never saw it. Another thing was we never had fresh ginger or fresh turmeric. I remember my mother pounding some really hard dried up things. Does anyone remember this? Now I see all of this in large quantities in the market there fresh and plump.

Also, in the video you cut 3 potatoes but the recipe on your website says, "1 large yukon gold or russet potatoes," should I use 3 or just 1 potato? Thanks!

Hi, the potato in the recipe was a large russet/baking potato. These are smaller potatoes. Next time, I will add the measurement of the potato by cups.

@@taswelle4495 I left Guyana March of 82, their NO potatoes, from 82 I visited 8 times, Zero potatoes I last left in 2002.
