A small 10k gold ring eludes the f22.
Here you'll see a couple tips I can share + my finds from 3 hrs metal detectoring near a heavily trafficked firepit near Orem Utah.

I've had both F22 & F44. They are virtually the same machines performance wise. They are low khz which is weak for gold. I finally found my first gold ring with my At Pro 15khz.

I changed my coil to a nel sharp on mine found way more coins and good finds but I found plenty with the 9in it came with

On my F22, gold rings are 1/2 less sensitive in Artifact mode compared to Jewlery mode. The discrimination segments do not eliminate the 20-40 range in neither of the mode but the gold appears to have very different sensitivity based on the mode. I always use my F22 in Jewlery mode and avoid digging the 50-54 range as they are always zinc pennies. A great machine for the price.

Mine doesn't pick up my wedding band very well either. I was disappointed.

I'm new at this, but why would you not set the mode on 'jewelry' to look for your ring?

You want gold get a Cibola if you can find one. It has 3 different operating frequencies 14.3 Khz, 14.5 khz, and 14.7 khz. The higher the frequency the more sensitive it is to gold and the lower the frequency the less sensitive it is to gold. Most of your detectors from First Texas which include the Teknetics, Fisher, and Bounty Hunter use around a 7.65 khz frequency which is more sensitive to coins like half dollars, quarters, dimes, and copper pennies, but is less sensitive to gold. The Tesoro Lobo Super Traq is another great gold machine if you can find one. It operates on a 17.8 khz frequency.

You really know your stuff! I've upgraded to a Nox 800. What do you think about that machine?
@horseman528
@horseman528 2 года назад
@@cacheney Never owned one, but I hear its a great machine. I believe it has multiple frequencies if I'm not mistaken. Probably one of the best for gold or coins. The AT Pro I believe is underrated. Its another great detector and is simple and easy to use, and like the Nox is waterproof down to 10 feet under water. That's what I would get if I was starting out brand new to the hobby.

We just pulled a 10k Rose gold boxing glove pendant with my buddies F22..use at equinox and he had no problems getting it at all 1st thing I would like to ask you is what settings are you using are you using a pre program setting or a custom setting And then I would like to know what is your sensitivity at how are you going about arriving at your sensitivity are you pushing it up to where it's chattery in that area and this will be area specific and then backing it down a notch or 2 so your setting right below threshold or do you have a number picked out your head that you use basically all the time?
@cacheney
@cacheney 3 года назад
Thanks! I do back it down, just below the chatter. I've been keeping it on the preset jewelry mode. I don't like to notch it anything, because the pulltabs and 22 shells beep just like gold rings, nickles, and pennies.

Kingfisher f22 metal detector stuck on coin mode would you say its a board fault or a coil fault

3rd thing I'm going to tell you about a detector like this I have been detecting in for a long time I also test metal detectors for local shop Anything from the Delta 4000 on up to that Fisher 22 is only going to be able to push the depth of the coil at best that's Max setting in the best dirt so if you're using an 8" Khan centric in the very very best settings you're not gonna get any deeper than 8" it simply does not have the juice. So burying a ring at 8" pushing the very limit of that coilLooking at that type of soil which seems mineralizedMaybe about Max out for that detector especially without the 11" double D oil which I do have on my belt of 4000 and it did add about an inch and a 1/2 of depth and better separation. But to me this I braid is not worth it save for a detector that has better penetrating power with my 6" coil in my equinox I can get much deeper than the f 22 with its stock coil .

That makes sense. Since posting this vid I've found a very small gold ring that was about an inch deep, and a small platinum ring about 4 inches deep (that i almost didn't dig due to inconsistent signal). Thanks for taking the time to help me understand!

You say you had it on jewelry mode but your screen clearly said artifact ??? I've also watched other channels where they're pulling gold rings with the F22 so don't know
@cacheney
@cacheney 2 года назад
Artifact includes all the bands that jewelery setting includes, plus some. I did go on to find gold rings (large and small) with this machine, as well as lots of other fun stuff! I think it's a great detector.

Secondlie 10 carat fools a lot of detectors in a lot of different ways because you have no control over the manufacturing and what they're mixing that gold with which alloy bland and what is alloyed blend made up of what percentages of white metals 10 carat gold is not a very high gold count so there's going to be a strong alloy presents mixed in each company uses a different blend for strength or character or whatever reason this is going to make a difference between different 10 carat gold items.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense.

I did go on to find a couple gold rings, a platinum ring, and many silver rings. It's been a really fun detector.
