Fishing Baffin Bay with the Texas Custom Double D

We had another solid day on the water in Baffin Bay and missed a few really good fish that shook the lure. But that's how it goes some times and it always keeps me hungry for more. In this video I stuck with the Texas Custom Double D in a black back with pink belly...you know me and pick lures, with a gold inlay(Sweet Lucy) and my uncle was throwing the Crown Royal color which produced for us. If you haven't yet I would highly recommend getting one and trying it out.

The fish you wanted identified is a big-headed sea robin, pretty common but uncommon to catch on lures

Yes sir it was. You may want to double up on them lol, I'm telling you they will get you hooked on throwing them. They have a lot of great colors and I'm a big fan of the one with the gold inlay, they give off great flash in the water.

No sir, I got them from Tackle Town in Rockport. But you can order them from Waterloo as well. I’ve also seen them at Roy’s over in Corpus Christi. I need to swing by that Waterloo store one day.

Great video. Was that Robin fish caught on a Lil John? Did your partner have success with that lure also that day?

Thank you sir I appreciate it! Yes sir it was on the Chartreuse Ice Lil John. We caught a few on the Lil John’s but they were wanting the Double D that day. Plus it was hard to switch to a Lil John when they were biting that good.

Looks like a sea robin. I thought I heard it grunting. They do that like pigfish and catfish. They are in the same family as lionfish and scorpion fish but aren’t poisonous. They walk on the bottom with their spines.

It’s pretty much is to be honest. I’m using the Shimano Tranx 150 7.2:1 it’s been a great reel so far. I’ve been using Lew’s reels for awhile and when this came out I had to try it out and the price isn’t bad either.

Bay Devil Belts is where I got mine from. On the website it doesn't show them but if you contact the guys over there they can work with you on one and what you want. Good people over there.

How’re y’all fishing Baffin on lures? Every time I’ve been the waters so caca brown. Reds can’t even see me bump into them

Well depending on the wind direction we find an area that’s protected and the water clarity looks good. So wind coming off a shoreline whether it’s out of the south or north you just go from there. If it gets super windy you might at times have to hug a shoreline just to say out of it and find that cleaner water.
