Brother you fish and you learn sometimes it works out. You still made it to the championship by qualifying...many great things for you in the future. I learned from some of the best kayak anglers in the country. It was definitely a learning lesson!! Me and John got into some awesome fish! I should have that video up next week!

I absolutely enjoyed the experience!!! To be honest I’m not too worked up about my placement. I made it there and caught fish in an entirely new environment. It was a win for me. I will have that video of John and I here within the next couple days!

Were you able to bring back any good tips from the other kayak anglers there? What would you do differently next time?

Absolutely!! Don’t be afraid to throw big swim baits during the pre spawn! I had some with me and never really tried them. I tried matching the hatch of the smaller baitfish. It turns out that you don’t need to. I really wanted to fish upstream on the river and fish my strength but couldn’t make it up the shallow riffles. I would have loved to have a kayak suited for that habitat.
