This guy is awsome i was fishing one day and locked my keys in my car and i had a spare at my house he saw me in distress and asked what was going on and if he could help i told him what was going on and gave me a ride to my house and back about two miles. Really nice guy for no reason God bless him and his son who was cool too. Thanks for the ride. Finally found the chanel. We met at the cliffhouse in San Francisco
Great to see the guy help the stingray get back into the water. We need responsible fishermen like that if we hope to fishing in the future. Great video!
Been gone since 2017. I miss the Bay and fishing the Island for rockfish. Oregon is cold and rugged, not too many mellow days on the Ocean. I enjoying taking a little trip back watching your content. Good video.
Hale, not a new video but new to me. Ocean Beach is my favorite beach to catch keeper crab. You really should have tossed a snare or two. I cast a heavier snare for Ocean than other spots but the crabbing is pretty good!
Yes....very familiar with that beach. That use to be Playland back in the day. Grew in the avenues and Ocean Beach, Cliff House were my favorite places to fish.
Glad you enjoyed the Bay Area fishing scene. I've been getting into rock fishing as of late along the coast and it's fun looking for those secret spots. Still an amateur with a lot to learn. Big fan of your channel up north.

@@BackFishing yes. All along Highway 1 up and down the coast are spots worth checking out for fishing. The dream is to someday own a boat but that’s far down the line.
I too am getting long in the tooth. When I fish on the rip rap, I use a walking stick to help keep my balance. Over fifty years fishing the bay, I have seen boom & bust of our fishery over the years. the fish I miss the most is the stary flounder. all the fishes have good and poor years but always rebound. Not so the flounder.
Love your comments. We use to catch Starry Flounders at Candlestick park, and also perch right next to Hwy 101. Bass at the Brisbane tubes. I have been talking with some of my fellow fisherman they feel striped bass fishing is on the decline over the years and the Halibut now is the dominant fish in the bay. I remember fishing the beach in the summer and birds would show us the fish but not so much any more. Do you know the reason for the decline?
@@BackFishing My Dad and I use to fish the tubes in late '50's, Flyshackers, Mori's point, Pacifica, 4th Ave Burlingame high wires for striper schoolies, SM Bay Bridge pier and south at oyster shore beds and Anza car lot canal for perch, Princeton (Pillar Point) just north in bay kelp beds for rubber lipped perch...Lots of memories. Butts like warm water maybe that's why they are dominating the bay fisheries. Global warming fisheries????
@@theoldsurffisher1943 Great comments. Not too many people know the spots you named anymore. I've gone as far as Moss landing to search for summer stripers. Devils slide area, Muscle Rock, Linda Mar etc..Lots of fun chasing stripers in the summer and occasionally hook up on salmon on the beach. I was in my twenties then and I don't remember having to buy a separate tag for salmon. Being new to fishing, I just thought it was a bonus. LOL
@@theoldsurffisher1943 I'm glad I was able to experience those times. There must have been over 200 people on the beach catching left and right when stripers were running. Pencil poppers, were the best top water action as fish boil behind your lure. You just had to watchout for the pelicans. LOL
I know right. Always closed on weekends but weekdays it should be open unless the sand gets heavy both sides of the road and city crew doesn't get out there to clear. I love it when it's open. I can freely scope out the beach by car and see potential birds working in the summer for stripers.
Month of May. Go to Torpedo pier in SF. You'll learn a lot by observing fellow fisherman. Alameda Rock Wall is a place across the bay if your on the East bay for stingrays, sharks, halibut and striped bass. GL
That place is the outer jetty of my homeport marina(Paradise Cay) & where i live part time aboard my trawler boat. Definitely a great fishing spot when the conditions & time of year are prime! The main gate closes by 7pm on weekdays so be sure to leave before it closes. And NO, i wont give out the key access code to my own home port...would you do the same if it were your home?? 😅

These piers require no license and you can catch sharks and stingrays pretty easy inside the bay. Torpedo Wharf for stripers/halibut, Fort Mason Pier, Municipal Pier, Aquatic Park Pier, San Francisco, CA., 7 Pier 7, San Francisco, Fishing Pier is at G Dock, 899 2nd Street South Beach Harbor Marina. Surf Perch Baker's Beach, China Beach, Ocean Beach but going further south you have much better success. GL
