I share the same sentiments with regulations on us pole guys when the natives are able to net. The said rationale for regulations on us is in place so that we don’t increase the mortality rate of other species, if we accidentally hook onto them. My qualms with the regulations especially for sockeye runs it’s such a small hook up ratio all ready, and if that’s their rationale for the regulations then isn’t netting the whole river going to affect species other than sockeye, for example: by keeping them netted for hours? I’m not saying the natives shouldn’t net because that’s their right. what I’m questioning is the tightness of the regulations on the rest of us. Anyway love your videos man keep it up 👍
I couldn't agree more! Though I would add. If Washington State wants to get SERIOUS about bringing the Salmon back. Banning ALL Gillnetting is going to have to be on the table. Tribal, Commercial etc. Perhaps allow them dip netting rights.....
