Thank you for this great time I watch you fishing.. it made me feel like I was our there fishing too.. awsome awsome awsome.. i miss salt water fishing.. did it all my young life.. now I'm hundreds of miles away from the salt life.. so I try to freshwater fish.. it's fun but it takes so much more to catch a nice fish.. i also miss all the different fish you can catch in the ocean (saltwater).. thanks again be safe..
First time ever I see kayak fishing. I'm a pretty casual fisher with not much equipment nor places to fish at close by, but now I really want to try this. This looks like such a great experience, fishing from a kayak.
I would rather watch you fish on a video than most of these TV shows. You seem pretty genuine, informative and you have a good on camera personality. I wish you the best even though I know as much if not more than you about fishing I still find your approach and style intriguing to watch you're doing an excellent job with your camera and keep up the good work you're very informative for those who don't have as much knowledge. On the days that I can't make it out fishing I stay at home and watch your videos it's the next best thing . Your videos are appreciated for being real.
Great info here. On our long trips we dump ice in the live wells. Slows them down for a bit. Once the temp of the water goes back to normal, they start kicking around again.
I wasn't sure about this channel the first video in but I've watched almost everyone of them now and I'm not sure how I got addicted but keep up the good work. Very soothing channel. Very enjoyable!
I do videos kayak fishing too, I enjoyed your kayak fishing video as you are a first light man like me. I head out at first light too. I'd never hang any of my fish over the side as the seals would have them, they're bold here. A suggestion for you = give your excess fish to old timers living near you, its a great way to get friends and help fok who can't get fresh out of the water fish. Cheers mate.
Another good day on the water! When I was in Virginia we fished a lot of brackish water using grass shrimp. The fish loved them. Have you ever had any fish, like sharks go after your fish you are keeping. I have had snapping turtles and snakes go after and eat mine!
Hey I'm a new sub. Your the first guy I found that actually shows what they are using. I live on the east side of Merritt island and just started getting into flats and river fishing in my boat. Thanks for the amazing vids keep it up
Zo, love your videos. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to show them here. Was up at Jax Beach first of August, surfcasting with "freshly dead" shrimp. The bait shop employee said they scoop out the overnight losses and sell them first instead of frozen shrimp. Said the fish would hit them hard, well before frozen. True words, and same price as the frozen. Spot, croaker, whiting, pompano and some small shark of unknown species. While you've proven live works extremely well, don't give up on those "freshly dead" ones.
Thank you for the great video you are a really good fisherman, here in California we only go fishing for rock cad, but it's fun to.. I like to use shrimp with my Jig and it works pretty good too for the rock cad.
I lived in Citrus County but when we was younger went to Bradington when the old Skyway bridge that had been hit was still there early 80s. We would go down old Homosassa us go down Homosassa river and fish all day long every once a while would go out to the ocean and a johnboat catch all kind of fish
Cool vid! Quick tip: You will be amazed at how much better your reels work if you fill them up with line. It's a mistake to buy 150yd filler spools of braid and tie it right to the spool. Better is to partially fill the spool with mono backing and then top it with the braid. That gives you much easier, more accurate casting, not to mention the drag is designed to work with a full spool and tension increases the more line comes off. Keep the vids coming!
You do a fantastic job with videoing and editing. I'd rather watch one of your videos than any fishing show on TV. Your kayak is set up nice, ever consider making a video of why you have your kayak set up the way you do and why it works for you? Keep the videos coming! It helps those of us dreaming of buying a place in Florida while dealing with frozen water here up north.
I wish I would have seen this video last week. I got stuck fishing from the shore line when the guy with the boat canceled on me while I was in Tampa Tuesday night/Wed morning. Didn't even think of trying to find a place to rent a yak. And kudos for passing along your unused bait. I tend to do the same thing when I'm done and know I'll not be back on the water for awhile.
Lost count of the times I have watched this gem of a video, Marty. So much so that it prompted me to have a quick look around to see if there are any bait shops in the UK selling live shrimp. I dare say there may well be a few, but all the stuff Google threw my way was either shrimp for a marine fish tank in your home or mysis shrimp as food for the fish in your tank! It would seem that if you want shrimp for bait over here, you have to go collect them yourself from along the shoreline. Anyway, thanks again for the great little film here mate. I seem to enjoy it more and more as time goes on :)
Great as usual. Wanting to start intercoastal fishing here in Wilmington NC. Could you explain or do a short video on how you rig your tackle and float for fishing with shrimp and best place to hook the shrimp. Would be great help. Glad you are still using the kayak as well as the boat.
Good idea for a video. Meantime, if you buy shrimp, you can ask the guy at the bait shop for advice. The folks at Alafia Bait and Tackle helped me a lot.
I like all your shows I seen lots of them .Im from Hawaii we have lots of good fishing here too!!! but you show good guidence for florida fishing ,Thank you!!!!!!
That was a Beautiful trout....wow trout, redfish, jack, catfish, Shark, What a super day...I wonder if in the freshwater lakes around me here in VA if anything would bite on live shrimp?
You are an ad campaign for the Alafia bait shop, Bud Light and whatever kayak company. I love your videos. Love the Tampa area. I am also on the Gulf coast (Mobile, AL) and love catching those Reds and Specks. Too fun and delicious.
i was wondering when we were gonna see another zoff video! glad to see another great one. really nice touch putting a picture of the lure you use up. i like that. thanks again for your effort! looking forward to the next video.
Hi just found your channel and your videos are really enjoyable! It's interesting you hook the shrimp through the thorax, here in the UK I use a really similar technique with live prawns under a bubble float for sea bass. I hook them through the second to last tail segment with a circle hook and set the drag low. I find hooking them like this keeps them lively longer and increases hook ups.
When I was a kid, I used to get so upset at my dad because he would get up soooo early. Now, I'm upset because I miss him. Living up North now (it's actually the South) in Southern Missouri, some people can't believe that dad would actually buy live shrimp at bait shops to fish with. I think that is pretty cool that you mentioned something about keeping the shrimp cool. Dad used to always buy "block" ice and he would take his ice pick and bite off a chunk and put it into the bat bucket with the shrimp the night before. It slows down their metabolism and respiratory system. Now days when I do any fishing other than crawfishing, I buy the uncooked, frozen shrimp at Walmart since I can''t buy any live shrimp here. I just get my VA disabilty check on the first of every month but hopiing I can save some bucks to get one of those 278 dollar kyaks at Walmart so I can get back out on the water again. I have some old Babe Winkleman VHS tapes that I love to watch where he was bass fishing from a fishing innertube in Florida. I have one VHS tapes of him fishing with Mel Tillis which is pretty cool because I am friends with one of his daughters that works here in Branson, Connie Tillis. She loved the tape.
i love the videos. youre such a positive person and a great fisherman. im doing some kayak fishing in the atlantic off of Massachusetts this weekend. i have no idea what they have up that way but it should be a great experience
That's right on 301 at the bridge, isn't it? I bought my pontoon boat from the marina across the road there back in 2001. It was awesome. I miss living there. (update: Was viewing Google earth recently and notice the boat sales place is history.)
The honesty must be told. Got a little depressed from not seeing any videos from you. That is the truth. Others make up for it but not completely. Always a nice job even from the intro, seeing I'm only 10 seconds in without watching the video in total ha. Tight lines brother!
Great stuff again Marty! You always put a lot of extra effort in your videos, I thought the overnight transition on the oven clock was a great touch!! Loving your videos as always! 👍
Love watching these videos they kept me sane through the winter here on the east coast! I think a lot of us like when you show us what your using and your rigging. Don't tell us too much now ;)
wow. they sell shrimp by the dozen in Florida. In Texas its typical to sell by the pint/quart. If i had to buy shrimp by the dozen i dont think id ever use live shrimp.
I used fresh and even "cooked" shrimp in the bag for trout and steelhead..they love their shrimp anyway they can get it..lol Nice video..I enjoyed it. :) Planning on getting a kayak myself this year.
Man ive seen all your fishing related videos more than once. This one video ive watched probably 4 times and its always entertaining. Love your videos man. Keep em coming. Soon preferably haha.
you should try to gather your own shrimp, i live in florida and there is lots of grass beds just a headlamp and a good sized dip net will get you a good amount for the next day
Easily a 5 star video Marty! Awesome! I dont fish saltwater as much as i used too :(. But will in August in SC! Im really interested in how you get the "bait cam" going when you are like 50 yards away from your bobber. Awesome strike!
@Robert wyatt try cigar minnows or Spanish sardines but them on whole threw the eye for dead and if there live have way down the center of the back in the middle of them
I watched your video when you and your friend went on a cruise for 6 days. Loved it. Now I am watching you catch fish, I have never seen in Maine, Could you tell us what kinds of fish you are catching? Thanks.
Quick tip, freeze a couple bottles of water and when frozen, put one in the bucket. It'll stay frozen in the bottle for many hours and will keep the shrimp cool. Take the other bottle or two with you fishing and when one eventually thaws out you throw another in. Hope that helps.
I loved the video !!! If you night the tail of and hook it where the tail would be and slide it all the way above the hook u will almost never loose your shrimp if you miss a bight
Yeah but live shrimp get bigger fish and ripping the tail off and shoving the hook all the way up into its body is going to kill it way faster. hooking it in the top of the head let's the shrimp move around a lot easier and keeps it alive longer. If I have dead shrimp or only smaller fish are biting the tail method is really awesome.
Salt water or fresh water, when things are slow live bait is the way to go. And I've found that shrimp is an excellent bait for freshwater Channel Catfish. Nice video.
Marty, love your video's. you have been a great inspiration to doing some kayak fishing videos myself (soon to come). But you've also been a thorn in the flesh to my wife! Thanks to you, I now have an ecooda reel from Eposiedon! lol they are awesome. It is being put thru its paces and will get a review soon. So far so good. Thanks for your video's.
Great viddy! No better day than fishing all day! Live shrimp vs. dead is definitely my favorite as well. Had the same problem, the shrimp just fall off too easily. I'm moving from salt water area to fresh and not at all experienced with fishing for bass, but am looking forward to the new adventure. Zoffinger, keep posting brother, your vid was very enjoyable.
have you ever considered doing like a day when your fans that live in the tampa bay area all meat up at the same launch site and all go out with u for the day? because if u did that would be sweet and i would go
Marty, how to you like your Ecooda reel? Looks like you are still using your Okuma bait feeder. You should try the Okuma trio. Great reel and drag and light weight.
I did some fishing on shrimp south of you at Ft. Meyers Beach. On shrimp I caught Sheepshead, snook, Mangrove snapper, 2 species of catfish. Never knew what I was going to get.
